Review: Avon Dreams Eau de Parfum

Hey Beauties!

I've had some great fragrance suggestions lately and today I have another one for you. This one is for all of you romantic sophisticated souls. It's Avon's new fragrance called Dreams and needles to say that it does smell like a dream while you're wearing it.

It comes in a pastel pink box with darker pink ribbons over it. Those are actually 3D printed on the box. Design is simplistic and romantic.

The glass bottle is very classic. On the bottom it is cut in a way that it almost looks like crystals or ice. The top also has the same design and reminds me of diamonds. On the bottom of the top is like a blurred part which is shaped like a ribbon. I would say it's a nice mix of something classic, but with a few eye catching details on the bottom and top.

Spray is gold and it produces fine mist.

In the bottle you get 50 ml of fragrance and it currently costs 19.90€ (Slovenia), although regular price is 26€. You can get Avon products from Avon sales people or just contact Avon team in your country.

It's described as a floral fragrance (but I would almost say floral woody) and it has notes of watery plum, pink rose and intense wood

The first this that I smell, when I spray it on my skin, is flowers or rather rose. Right after a few second it stats to get a more subtly sweet fruit scent of watery plum. The rose and plum create this very subtle romantic light scent that is more on the sweet side rather then being very floral. As the fragrance develops further, I get a bit stronger wood base, which gives this fragrance sophistication and long lastingpower.

I thought that this was going to be more floral, considering the description, but in fact it's very subtly romantic and it has a bit of sweetness to it, while the wood makes it more grounded and a lot more sophisticated smelling. I am not a fan of floral fragrances and I think this is a nice blend of fruitiness, slight sweetness, wood and a hint of flowers. Nothing is overpowering and the blend of all these together creates a very romantic and sophisticated fragrance.

The staying power is very good. I can still smell it at the end of the day, although it does loose some intensity, naturally. It's eau de parfum so you get what you expect.

What more can I say, except the fact that Avon did it again. I really think their fragrances are amazing and the fact that they come out with so many new scents is commendable. I've been wearing it this past month all the time. It feels a bit like a pamper product.

Nisem ljubiteljica cvetličnih vonjev in zato se mi zdi ta kombinacija nežne sadnosti, rahle sladkobe, lesa in čisto malo cvetličnosti ravno pravšnja.

To dišavo sem nosila cel prejšnji mesec.

Review: Golden Rose Nail Polishes (Wow! 55 and 65, Color Expert 102, Matte 16, Rich Color 112)

Hey Beauties!

I'm not sure how long Golden Rose has been available in our country, but I think the brand is pretty new here. I got a few bits from them back in November, I think. It was my first time seeing the stand in person and the fact that it all seemed so affordable made me go a bit crazy, as you can see. I bought 5 nail polishes in total and I also tried to get different ranges to compare.

I got Wow! Nail Color in 65, Color Expert Nail Lacquer in 102, Matte Nail Lacquer in 16, Rich Colour Nail Lacquer in 112 and Wow! Nail Color in 55.

Golden Rose Wow! Nail Color in 55

I think the Wow! range is the most popular, because it's the cheapest. They cost 1.10€ and in them is 6 ml of nail polish. They are very small, but that's a good thing sometimes. If I think of how many nail polishes I have that I'll probably never finish... I would love to get smaller sizes sometimes. This is also a great way to experiment with bolder colors, which you're not sure if they'll suit you.

The bottle is cute and small, obviously glass. Top is colored the same as the shade of nail polish. It makes it easier to find.

The formula of both of these is of medium thickness and it spreads nicely. You'll need two coats to get even full opacity.

I have a problem with the brush though. One is great and the other is frayed and the bristles stick to all sides. I think this might just be a mistake, but I would advise you to check the brushes in the store, before you buy it. This particular brush really gets on my nerve. I can't get perfect finish and precise application. Otherwise the brush is straight cut, classic

Shade 55 is a mix of burgundy and dark purple. It's one of those pearl finishes, which looks like it has a ton of small pigmented shimmer in it and gives you a nice sheen.

Golden Rose Wow! Nail Color in 65

Shade 65 is oxblood red with small gold and red glitters. The glitter is more of a shimmer, really small and it makes such a nice addition to the actual nail polish color. This is one of my favorites. It's rare that you find nail polish with tiny shimmer and such a nice color combination of both. The shimmer is so small that you won't have any problem with taking it off the nails. The finish is creamy, but also looks a bit like a gel

Golden Rose Matte Nail Lacquer in 16

This is the most expensive out of all five. It costs 2.50€ and in it is 11.5 ml of nail polish. The bottle is elegant and looks more similar to the triangle shape. The glass bottle is matte and it makes the nail polish inside look matte as well. A very nice effect, but harder for you as a buyer, because you don't see the actual shade of the nail polish. Top is black, long and also matte.

It has a very thin and long brush, which I am not a fan of. It's too thin for my personal preference and it means I have to go back to the bottle at least one more time to apply it on my entire nail. Formula is fairly liquid and this is the only nail polish that has a very thin formula. One coat still let's your nail see through, so you definitely need two coats. It's not as opaque as others.

I do love the fact that it doesn't leave stripes and the application is even. It dries very fast into a matte finish, but you get just enough play time with it. With a lot of matte nail polishes the application can look very uneven and they seem to be too thick, so I think the thinner formula actually works perfect with this finish.

The finish itself is completely matte. This is one of my favorites from the bunch. Matte finish is so nice and the red is perfect. Shade 16 is a bright red with almost orange undertone and it has very small shimmery pigment. It always reminds me of Christmas when I see it and of the Christmas tree matte ornaments.

Golden Rose Rich Color Nail Lacquer in 112

It costs 1.95€ and in it is 10.5 ml of nail polish. This one has a square glass bottle and a shiny silver top

I love this brush, because it's wider, which means less moving around the nail.

Shade 112 is army green, although it looks a bit too grey toned on my photos. It's one of the unique shades in my collection, because I don't own any such shades.

The formula is thicker, which I really like, because it means it's very pigmented and you can use just one coat to cover the entire nail. The coat needs to be thicker though. I still like to apply two coats, because that's what I always do. It has a very creamy finish. I think this formula impressed me the most, because it's the most my kind of nail polish formula.

Golden Rose Color Expert Nail Lacquer in 102

It costs 1.80€ and in it is 10.2 ml of nail polish. The bottle is the most standard one with rounded glass bottle. This one also has a top in the shade of nail polishcolor

The brush is again wider and just slightly rounded at the edges. It's almost that perfect mix of straight and round cut, so that you're edges always look perfect.

Shade 102 is a dirty brownish pink. I love it, it's again one of those unique shades in my collection. This also might be one of the rare pink shades that I really like to wear.

Formula is similar to 112, since it's also thicker and very opaque with just one coat. You can definitely make it work with just one coat, but as I said before, I always apply two. It's also a creamy finish.

As far as long lasting power goes, they are all similar, except for the Matte 16. This one actually starts to chip on my nails the second day or it might be OK until the third day. Keep in mind that I have weak nails prone to chipping. Golden Rose also says on their page that Mattes are not as long wearing as the regular nail polishes, because of the unique formula and they recommend to use daily. Kudos for that. Many brands tend to just lie about things like that.

All other nail polishes seem to have similar wear time. It's hard for me to talk about the exact time, because it depends on what I do with nails and what not. I would say Wow! are a tiny bit less long lasting, maybe a day or half day less, while Color Expert and Rich Color are both fairly long lasting. If you have good nails I would dare to say, you can wear it for up to 5 days with no problem. For me this is more like 3 to 4.

I was reading the descriptions of these nail polishes on Golden Rose online page and I pretty much agree with all of their statements. This is definitely a good nail polish brand and the nail polishes are so damn cheap for the quality. The color range is insane. If you're standing in front of the counter, you might get lost in all of those shades, that's how many of them there are. I will definitely purchase some more of their nail polishes as soon as I get the opportunity. Btw Golden Rose, if you're reading this, please open another counter near me - Maribor at least (I know wishing for it in Murska Sobota is pretty much impossible).

Hey Beauties!

Today I'm showing you what I got in a few past months and what reviews you can expect in the future. I only included products that I haven't reviewed yet.

Balea Cleansing Oil

I've heard good things about this oil and the fact that it has similar ingredients to L'Occitane cleansing oil, so of course I had to try it. So far, I like it. It really does feel very similar to L'Occitane 5% Shea Butter Cleansing Oil. It's very greasy and breaks down the makeup nicely. Once it touches the water, it transforms into a white milky texture. It leaves behind a slight oil residue. All in all, I'm impressed for something that costs under 3€.

Maybelline Color Show The Blushed Nudes in 447 Dusty Rose

I was browsing through Austrian DM and found this jewel from their limited edition called The Blushed Nudes. It's an amazing pastel purple nail polish shade. I also find Color Show range a lot thicker and more opaque in formula compared to Colorama. I still don't get why we don't have Color Show in Slovenia, it's like Maybelline is intentionally keeping us away from all their really nice products.

Pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner

Since I ran out of my Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner and I didn't really like the Paula's Choice testers, because they were breaking me out like crazy and some of them even stung my face, I decided to look up Pixi Glow Tonic. It's highly raved by the skin care goddess Caroline Hirons (if you don't know her, shame on you) and she loves this as well as a ton of other people. I finally found it on Beauty Bay and bought it. It's also a lot cheaper than Paula's Choice and you get a huge amount. I like it. It seems to be very gentle and right after I use it my skin feels very smooth to the touch. It's one of those chemical exfoliators and it also feels hydrating, all at the same time.

Morphe Brushes Single Eyeshadow in Starlight

Along with Pixi I also threw in the basket one of Morphe Brushes single eye shadows. I've been eyeing their 35O palette for so long, but the only sites that I can actually get a hold off this palette are always out of stock. Go figure. Maybe they should just make more of it and faster (God, sometimes it feels like I'm the one that's stupid here). Anyway, I decided to at least try one of their singles, since those are supposed to be even better quality. The shade range was also almost sold out, but I decided to try this warm yellow shade. I've only tried it twice and it's not bad, but also not as impressive. It's really pigmented, but for some reason it vanished through the day. Maybe I just had and extra oily day. I definitely need to try this more.

Ebelin Konjak Sponge Green Tea

Konjak sponges were very popular like a year ago and I just never understood the hype. But since DM made their own version for a fraction of the price, I decided to try it. What I love the most about it is the fact that it feels like you're giving yourself a massage while you're rubbing it against your face. It's hard, but once you soak it, it's very soft and gentle. It smells weird when you open it and I think it might be because of the green tea. It does exfoliate the skin, so if your skin is dry, I would avoid using it too often.

Catrice Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer in 005 Light Natural

So Catrice came out with another shade of this concealer and it's the lightest version, although also the most yellow toned. It's actually perfect for my warm skin tone and I like that it's lighter. I love using it under my eyes as it almost brightens it up, because the shade is actually lighter than my foundation. Of course, I got it, because I loved other two shades. It's my favorite drugstore concealer ever.

Diamond Beauty Eyeliner - Black and Loose Whitening Powder

I got a chance to review some of the Diamond Beauty products, which is a Japanese brand. I love their eyeliner. It's in a pen form, but it has more of a brush tip, which is very precise. I love the fact that you can draw the thinnest lines possible. Review is here. I also got one of their loose powders and I went for the whitening one, thinking it's going to be the lightest shade. It is very light, but it has shimmer in it, which I'm not a fan of. Actually I should correct myself, I don't know how to use it properly. It's supposed to go in the center of the face and it looks good on cloudy day and it mattifies nicely, but I hate when it starts to sparkle in the sun. Have to give this more of  a test and see if it really has the brightening purpose.

L'Occitane Fleur de Cerisier Body Milk

L'Occitane sent me one of their new body milks, which contains shea butter and cherry blossom floral water. It's a light nicely perfumed body milk. It gives you a bit of moisture, but without the greasy or heavy feeling. The smell is interesting. I can't decided if it smells fruity or floral. Kind of a mix of both, but a subtle one. I definitely like it.

Born Pretty Store Panda Smooth Liquid Eyeliner

While ordering something from Born Pretty Store for my friend, I remembered Mateja really liking this Panda eyeliner. I haven't tried it a lot, maybe three times, but I can say I don't like it better than Diamond Beauty. This one is more runny, though it could almost be said that a bit more pigmented in just one swipe. It runs into those little skin cracks more than Diamond Beauty and needs longer time to dry up. It's also a lot less long lasting. In fact, if I rub it, it goes off my eyes while Diamond Beauty stays the same all through the day. I have to use it more to make up my mind about it.

Avon Face Pearls, Angled Brush and Supershock Mascara

Avon also sent me a few of new products. Among these were one of their best selling products in a very pretty gold and pink design. I love this design. Face Pearls are apparently very popular. It's like a highlighting powder, but the shimmer in it is quite big and visible. It's a very light almost white shade. Angled brush is amazing. Perfect for applying highlighter or precise contour. It's unbelievably soft. Supershock mascara is also one of their best selling mascara, but so far I am not impressed. It doesn't seem to do what I want. It gives definition and length, but lacks volume. I do like to use it under my other mascaras or on my lower lashes.

Avon Color Trend Lipstick Amour, Planet Spa Sweet Sensuality Bath Elixir and Friendship Bracelets

Avon also surprised us bloggers on Valentine's Day with a Valentine's Day inspired package. I was actually eyeing this Color Trend lipstick in the catalog, because it looked so pretty with embossed hearts. I wore it on Valentine's Day and really like it. It's definitely on a sheerer side, a very universal pink shade. It feels hydrating and needs to be reapplied for full opacity. I loved the feeling of it on my lips. I also tried Bath Elixir, which was not like their usual bubble baths. It made a lot less foam, but felt very smooth in the bath tube. I got a very greasy feeling and it was left on my skin, once I showered, which means it's a very nourishing product for your bath. It also has a luxurious yasmine scent that fill the whole bathroom, while you're bathing. Friendship bracelets are adorable. Not really my style, but a nice thought. I should definitely give this to one of my friends. Maybe I'll even DIY that butterfly on my other bracelets.

Ebrand

I got an offer to try Ebrand products, which I think are actually targeted towards skin care salons. I wanted to try their soothing cream for sensitive skin and one other body peeling, but they also sent me some other testers. I got body peeling with almonds (doesn't seem harsh enough), face peeling (has very small granules, I like it), vitamin mask (it's not hydrating enough), cleansing milk for the face (nice one for removing makeup), soothing face cream for sensitive skin (like it, it's very lightly moisturizing, soothing and smells like bubble gum) and face toner (smells amazingly of mandarins or something like that, nicely hydrating). Most of these products are actually fairly sensitive and none of them irritated my skin, but I am surprised at how heavily scented they all are. Some scents are amazing though.

Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara and Ciate Paint Pots in Serendipity

I won a giveaway on Maja's Instagram and got these two products. I have to say that I haven't tried the mascara yet, although I hear mixed reviews. I have many others to use before I open another one. I was very looking forward to trying one of Ciate nail polishes, because these look so darn cute. Serendipity is pink shimmery nail polish that looks nice as a glitter top coat over other shades. I only tried it once and I really like how smooth it is in spite of all that shimmer in it.

theBalm Hot Mama Blusher

The Balm also offered to sent me some of their products and I was really excited to get Hot Mama blusher. It's definitely the blush shade that I would choose among their range. It's a nice coral shade with a shimmery gold sheen, which is to die for. You know me, I love shimmer and highlighters and this is a highlighting blush, so of course, I love it.

theBalm Nude'tude Nude Eyeshadow Palette

I also got this palette. I actually wanted Nude Dude, because it has more of those warm toned eye shadows that I love. In all honesty, I haven't tried this out much, because of some miss communication problems. I did try it once and the pigmentation seems nice. I'll have to use it a bit more to report though.

Essence LE Wake up, Spring! Eyeliners (01 Happy First Day of Spring, 02 Let's the Spring Begin and 03 Spring a-ling a-ling)

When I saw colored eyeliners in Essence's new Limited Edition, I was so excited but at the same time so stupid that I both all of them. Stupidly, because it turned out to be less than impressive. They seemed really saturated and pigmented in the store, but when I try to apply them on my eye, they just don't perform. The nib doesn't get saturated, in fact the lilac one the tip doesn't saturate at all. I had to literally break the tip by pushing it down to squeeze out the product. I also tried the white one and it's not pigmented enough. It's thicker and you have to go over the line multiple times. I still haven't tried the mint one, but I think it's pretty much going to be the same. It was a waste of my money, to be honest.

Essence Eyeshadow in 15 Hazel Me Not! and 19 The Grammy Goes Glammy

I had a gift card and was waiting for the new Essence products to arrive so I can try some. I swear we were like the last city in our country to get the products. Why am I not surprised?! I browsed through their new revamped eye shadows and actually found some nice shades. I though the pigmentation wasn't bad at all. I got these two shades, because I am looking for another lighter contouring shade for the nose. As you may know I love to use Essence I Heart Nude Eyeshadow in 05 My Favorite Tauping for contouring. I haven't tried if this one is lighter or not, but it seems promising. I got the other shimmery champagne shade for highlighting. Either cheek bones or inner corner of the eye. It seemed fine and not too glittery. It's also really shiny, which I like.

Ebelin Precision Eye Shadow Brush and Lip Brush

Lip brush is a repurchase. It's my favorite, because it's straight cut, so you can create the perfect edge. My old one has really frayed bristles, so I replaced it. I also got the precision brush, because I always want those smaller tip brushes to smudge the eye shadow around my lower lash line.

Essence Smokey Eye Brush

Again one of those precise point brushes for eye shadows. This one is a lot fluffier and bigger than Ebelin's.

Essence Nail Art Duo Stylist

I call this a dotting tool and use both sides to create different dots as well as to draw on nail designs. Apparently thinner side could be used to draw lines, but I can't imagine that going well for me. I always use brushes for lines.

Essence Turn It Sunny Top Coat and Studio Nails Fast Cuticle Remover

I love warm shades and this is a top coat that should give you a warm yellow toned look to your base. Obviously, I wanted this. Maybe I can turn every cool toned shade into a warm one. I can't remember on which blog I saw this, but I remember the person saying that this Fast Cuticle Remover is the quickest way to remove cuticles. As I feel lazy to soak my nails every time I paint them, I wanted to try this. I only tried it once and it did make the cuticles easier to push back, so it should be good.

Avon True Colour Matte Eyeshadow Quad in Au Naturale

Avon surprised us bloggers with a few of their products for Women's Day today. What a lovely thought from a brand for women. I love their Mocha Latte quad, because it has three very nice matte brown shades and now they've come out with matte quad palettes. I got Au Naturale, which is basically matte brown palette and I am really excited to try it. The first two shades seem really similar to those in Mocha Latte.

Avon Big and Multiplied Volume Mascara

Their latest volume mascara. It has a bushy multiple small bristles and the brush definitely seems promising. It should give you thicker and multiplied lashes with lots of volume. It also says that it should be clump free and the bristles catch every little lash. Sounds dreamy.

Avon Care Pink Jasmine Hand, Nail and Cuticle Cream

I only tried it a little on my hands. Seems to be very quick absorbing white cream. It smells really subtle and almost reminds me of hard soap smells.

Avon Naturals Body Care Sultry Red Rose and Peach Shower Gel

This smells exactly like it says on the packaging - of roses and peach. It's a sexy floral fruity smell. I haven't tried it out yet.

Review: Face Paint The Story of Makeup by Lisa Eldridge

Hey Beauties!

Ever since Lisa Eldridge (makeup artist extraordinaire) announced that she wrote a book about makeup, I wanted to get my hands on. Fortunately, I got it for my birthday from my boyfriend. History is not my forte or even something that I like, but history of makeup is a whole other thing. I enjoyed reading this book and today I'll tell you a bit more about it and I'll also share with you my favorite thoughts and quotes from the book.

The book is divided into two sections. The first is The Ancient Palette and the second is The Business of Beauty. Ancient Palette talks about the first makeup products in Ancient Egypt up to the 20th century. It's divided into three themes: Red, White and Black. The Business of Beauty talks more about the fist beauty brand pioneers and how the beauty industry has evolved through the years. From home made recipes to ultra technologically designed makeup products for every need.

The book has a paper cover with artistically made up face. It looks like pigments were scattered all over the model's face. It has a simplistic, but powerful design. If you take off the paper cover it has the same image, but without the title. It's a hard cover, so the quality is great.

On the inside of the cover you'll find image with vintage makeup packaging. It's a stunner to look at and compare with today's packaging. Reading through this book, I realized that the first makeup products had even more luxurious packaging than some high end brands have now. Obviously high end brands still like to flaunt their intricate designs, but drugstore makeup is a lot more simplistic and it just reflect different era in my opinon.

On the last page or rather on the inside of the cover at the back, you'll find the opposite - modern day makeup products. The range includes high end, drugstore makeup as well as some from Asian market.

The book is easy to read and very intriguing. I especially like the side stories in each theme that tell you interesting stories about certain people or state interesting beauty facts. In between the chapters are also pages of Makeup Muses. Those are the famous women that inspired generations to copy their look and a lot of those are still quoted by today's celebrities as the ultimate beauty icons. These muses go from Nefertiti, Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn all the way to Madonna and Amy Winehouse.

I have to say one of my favorites from the book are stories of first beauty pioneers. It's a funny inside into the battles between brand pioneers and funny stories of how they came into the beauty business.

Now, let's see some of the thoughts and quotes that I really liked from this book. The first are facts from the Ancient Palette section. I would like to state that obviously the thoughts are not mine and that everything I write from now on is adopted by what Lisa Eldridge has written in her book.

Ancient Palette

Painting our faces is as much part of a human nature as the need to eat and sleepThe first reason for painting our faces was to protect from the elements, to camouflage or it was part of ritual. Nature provides us with pigments.

Rougeis the longest-standing makeup item in existence.

"Painting on a red mouth has the uncanny knack of seeming to belong to antiquity and tradition whilst simultaneously appearing decidedly modern and daring."

Egyptians, who lived 10.000 BC, were most experimental and accepting of makeup. They used moisturizer, khol, lip and cheek rouge as well as nail color.

Makeup was most unexpected when women were the most oppressed.

In Ancient Greece only courtesans, professional mistresses and prostitutes had more freedom with makeup, although all women wore makeup.

Pompadour Pink was the shade of blush named by Madame de Pompadour by Boucher (mistress of King Louis XV).

Women are naturally paler than men. They have less hemoglobin, which is red pigment in blood and less melanin, which is brown pigment in skin and hair, in their body. Women are lighter during ovulation. Hair and skin is permanently darkened after the first pregnancy.

One of the first skin whiteners was rice powder in East Asia.

Renaissance women asked physicians to put a leech behind each ear. This made their faces paler. It was probably used as a pre-party routine.

The most enduring product through the years is kholHumans have defined, protected and emphasized their eyes with black lines for thousands of years.

Khol is Egyptian invention and was worn by women and men.

At the end of sixteenth and in seventeenth century black patches were popular. They could be cut in desirable shapes like hearts. Placement of these patches had a meaning. If you wore it on right cheek it meant you are married, if you wore it on left, it meant you were engaged. If the patch was by the mouth you were up for grabs and if it was by the corner of the eye, you were a mistress.

In Egypt khol was used as medicine to protect the eyes from infection and strong sunlight. In 2010 scientists proved that it was medicinal. They researched khol from some grave.

In Japan, China and south-east Asia they dyed their teeth black. It was considered beautiful.

The Business of Beauty

"True lovers of beauty do not attempt to paint the lily or add perfume to the rose; but as rose and the lily need rain and sunshine to blossom forth in pristine freshness and fragrance, so do we mortals require the little accessories of the toilette to look our radiant best." - Advertisement

Skin care was well represented, but not makeup. Even companies like Elizabeth Arden and Helena Rubenstein did not advertise the use of makeup. Makeup ads started in the late 20s

In the beginning it was all about negative advertising. They were selling products to women by playing on their insecurities. The advertising was overtly negative, sexist and patronizing all from 20s to 60s.

One of the most interesting facts that I found out in this book is the fact that a lot of beauty pioneers were from Europe, but started their business in USA. Also, those that were not from Europe, lied about being from there as it meant that they were in a way superior or it helped their status as a beauty pioneer.

Here are some examples: Max FactorMaksymilian Faktorowicz from Poland, Helena Rubenstein from Poland, Elizabeth Arden born in Toronto as Florence Nightingale Graham, Estee Lauder born as Josephine Esther Mentzer in Queens and RevlonCharles Revson born in Boston.

Max Factorwas the first to start manufacturing makeup on large scale for regular women.

Helena Rubenstein was less than five feet tall. Her famous mantra was: “With the right pair of shoes a woman can conquer the world.” and “There are no ugly women, only lazy ones.” Her advertising was harsh. She was also the first beauty pioneer to discuss different types of skin.

Estee Lauder's mother was Hungarian and her father was Czech. The name Estee Lauder was suggestive of a European Identity. In 1968 she launched Clinique the first dermatologist tested, fragrance free cosmetic brand. It was a three step care routine. Estee Lauder owns more than 25 companies among which are MAC Cosmetics, Bobbi Brown, Aveda, Smashbox and Tom Ford Beauty.

Charles Revson created Revlon. He created first opaque and fast-drying nail polish with the help of editor Diane Vreeland, who gave him the bottle of her nail polish from Europe. He pretty much owes his success to her. Elizabeth Arden and Helena Rubenstein hated Charles. Rubinstein called him "the nail man" and Arden called him "that man". It is said that Charles brought out a men's fragrance called That Man just to annoy her.

Charles saw Estee Lauder as his real rival. He also painted his own nails to test it and went out like that to sell it. Revlon was also the first to match lipstick with the nail polish color.

Makeup is term from theater and comes out of phrase “making up”.

Gabrielle Chanel: "Lipstick is a woman’s prime weapon of seduction."

Rosie the Riviter was a wartime icon with her red lips. Women were encouraged to paint their lips red to keep up the moral.

In 20s women’s public bathrooms were known as “powder rooms”.

Max Factor made first creamy version of foundation. Chanel made first tanning oil and Revlon made the first kind of fake tan for legs called Leg Silk. The bronzer came to the market as a way of adopting makeup to your tan.

Makeup companies that started out in theaters:

  • Bourjois - rice powder
  • Leichman - stick greasepaint
  • Kryolan - Kryolan is unique, because they’ve never discontinued colors. They still have recipes from all the colors and can reproduce it for you, if you wish to.
Makeup companies that started out as perfume houses:

  • Guerlain - one of the oldest perfumeries in the world
  • Coty – now under Bourjois and are the market leader in creating affordable celebrity fragrances
  • Lancome - (founder Armand Petitjean was executive at Coty). Lancome name was inspired by the Chateau de Lancosme and their rose logo represents roses that surround the ruins of chateau.
Makeup companies that started out as couture houses:

  • Chanel– packaging is key, chic branding, known for lipsticks and nail polishes (Rouge Noir shade)
  • Dior– known for lipsticks
Some makeup brands started out as toiletry giants They mostly started by producing soaps.

  • Procter&Gamble - started selling soap. They own fragrance, beauty, hair and skin companies, including Max Factor.
  • Boots - a household name in United Kingdom. It’s high street pharmacy chain and it started out as herbalist store. No.7is their makeup range. They merged with Walgreens.
  • L’Oreal - the world’s largest cosmetics company. It was started by Eugene Schuller. L’Oreal owns Vichy, Lancome, Body Shop, Helena Rubenstein, Maybelline, Urban Decay, Shu Uemura and YSL Beaute.
Some makeup brands were founded by makeup artists:

  • Shu Uemura - created first oil-based cleanser. It’s known for its eyelash curler.
  • MAC (Make-up Art Cosmetics) - known for limited editions and huge range of products. It was bought by Estee Lauder.
  • Bobbi Brown - was also bought by Estee Lauder. It’s one of the first brands to regularly use black models.
  • Trish MvEvoy
  • Laura Mercier
  • Francois Nars
  • Kevyn Aucoin

Trends are technology led. Most of innovations come from Japan. Apart from glitter, all makeup innovations are no less than 20 years old. Nowadays brands use synthetic glitters and pigments, because they are more predictable.

Mica is mineral and it’s a Latin work micare which means "to flash".

Glitter was invented as a mistake. Henry Ruschmann was machinist and cattle rancher from New Jersey. He was cutting colored plastic and created sparkled fragments. This was in 1934. It is still the biggest manufacturer of glitter. Their slogan is: “Our glitter covers the world.”

Use of pearl in cosmetics was inspired by car industry and iridescent car paint. Very fine satin-finish synthetic pearls are often used for highlighters, blushers and foundations and they give subtle, glowing sheen. Next came pearl made from glass particles called borosilicate glass. It had power of reflection. Glass particles are coated with metallic silver and gold and act like a mirror. They are used in lipsticks, eye shadows and eyeliners.

Siliconecame from medical industry. They used it to coat the instruments to ensure they glide smoothly during operations.

Cosmetic-grade silicone was first used in lipsticks to make them long-wearing. New lipsticks are made using silicone oils with small level of plant oils. Silicone is also used in foundations. It’s combined with oils and polymers for a flexible mesh-like film on the skin. First to use this technology was Revlon Colorstay, Lancome Teint Idole and L’Oreal Color Resist. These days they add more water for freshness and thinner formula.

Makeup today is about sexual attraction, instinct to produce and group identity. We want to feel like we belong to out tribe.

Historian Madeleine Marsh says: “The makeup business today is all about the quest for perfection combined with ruthless commerce.”

Today peer-to-peer recommendations are the most powerful impetus to buying a product – forums, blogs, YouTube...

Makeup can be bonding and confidence-boosting experience. Application can be relaxing and fun.

Makeup is what you make of it. It is a choice.” - Slater

Cosmetics can be a means of empowerment, as long as we don’t confirm to just one ideal.

I really like Lisa Eldridge's though on make up. She said: “Ultimately, nothing empowers a woman more than the right to a good education, and the freedom to choose whether to wear a red lip and smoky eye…or not.

I think I provided you with a lot of interesting facts and I absolutely loved this book. Apart from being well written and full of many interesting facts, it also has stunning photography. Some of historically famous persons, first makeup products and amazing modern makeup creations. It's my first beauty book and I think it's appropriate that it's by Lisa Eldridge. She is my favorite makeup artist, because she has a range of creating the most natural flattering makeup and also doing some very unique artistic cover makeup. Her vision of enhancing natural beauty fits well with my perception of how I think makeup should be used daily. Of course, you can go all out and crazy, but for the most women, makeup is a good tool to enhance their naturally pretty features and to feel empowered.

I'll leave you with this funny, but true, quote from the book.

Review: Maybelline Color Show The Blushed Nudes - 447 Dusty Rose

Hey Beauties!

Our weather seems more like it's fall rather than spring. But I just can't wait for more sun and pretty flowers outside my window. My mentality is already in spring and so are my purchases. In Austrian DM I found one of Maybelline Color Show limited edition's called The Blushed Nudes. In the edition are 4 colored polishes and one glittery top coat. They are all in that mauvy shade range. I chose pastel pink lavender shade, because it seemed the most unique.

Nail polish comes in their usual glass bottle with black top. In it is 7 ml of product and it costs 2.95€

This range has a very pretty lace design on the top. Nice touch.

It has a standard straight cut brush, which is just the right width.

The formula of Color Show nail polishes is in general a bit more creamy and a bit more opaque. Colorama I find very thin and almost a bit transparent, so I prefer Color Show range, which of course we don't have in Slovenia.

As with most light nail polish shades, you'll need two coats to completely cover the nail. It dries fairy quick and this range usually lasts well on my nails. For about 3 - 4 days, which is a lot for my weak nails.

Shade 447 Dusty Rose almost looks like dirty light pastel pink, but with a touch of lavender. Unique shade in my collection.

I love this shade so much and want to wear it again and again. It's just a really pretty pastel nude dirty pink. It's also not too warm nor too cool. I just wish Maybelline would start selling Color Show nail polishes in our country. Those are one of my favorite drugstore nail polishes.

Review: Herbio Cotton Seed Shower Gel

Hey Beauties!

I've already spoken a little about Herbio, which is Slovenian skin care brand based on traditional herbs. I've already reviewed their Cream Kalei and AHA Fruit Peeling Mask. You'll love their products if you're looking for something a bit more natural and definitely sensitive enough.

I got their Cotton Seed Shower Gel on an event that Tatjana and I organized - Pomurje Bloggers. In all honesty, I don't get super excited about shower gels. Yes, they smell nice, but most of those just irritate my skin. Especially in colder months I get allergy on my back and I have very dry flaky skin. Aggressive perfumed shower gels just tend to make my skin even drier and flakier. The only shower gel that I used up to now, was Balea Med shower gel with PH 5,5. Now, I can happily report that I found another alternative for my sensitive skin.

It comes in a plastic bottle and apparently all their packaging is recyclable. They've also changed their design. It's simplistic and artsy. It costs 8€ and in it is 200 ml of shower gel. You can buy it here. Here you'll also find the ingredients list.

The top is actually a screw on top and it goes off the packaging completely. Not like those pop up tops. This is inconvenient. It usually happens that I can't screw it back on while showering, so I just do it after I'm finished. The bottle has a fairly firm plastic, but you can squeeze it out with no problem.

It has a rather interesting texture compared to others. It's like a gel,  feels thick, but it's still pretty runny. It has a slight green tint to its transparency. You actually need less of it than you'd think. It doesn't leather like most shower gels, because it is more natural. That doesn't bother me at all. It actually leathers better than I expected it too. The proof is on the photo. It's by no means hydrating (because to be honest, there is no such shower gel), but it definitely doesn't dry out the skin or leave it squeaky clean.

It has a gentle almost sleepy smell. The smell reminds me of something, but I can't put my finger on it.

This is one of the rare shower gels that doesn't irritate me. Most shower gels cause red patches on my skin after the shower and itching. This one doesn't do any of this. It really is mild and sensitive skin approved. I have to say that I agree with everything that Herbio says about it.

I would recommend this especially to those who have a dry, itchy, sensitive skin and have hard time finding shower gels that don't irritate their skin. It's also a nice shower gel for everyone else that has a bit more sensitized skin especially in colder months and for those who like to put more natural products on their body.

*I got this product on a blogger event.

Ocenila sem že Kremo Kalei in AHA sadno masko. Njihove izdelke boste vzljubili, če so vam všeč bolj naravni izdelki in če imate občutljivo kožo.

To ni praktično.

Malo gostejši, a vseeno dokaj tekoč.

Review: Make Up Factory Mat Lip Fluid 61 Velvet Rosewood

Hey Beauties!

This is a long overdue review of a product that I got in a giveaway on Sanja's blog. Whenever I posted wearing it on Instagram or in my previous makeup looks, everyone seemed to really like it. I'll finally tell you more about it.

It's called Mat Lip Fluid and it should be intensive, long lasting color with matte finish. It comes in a lip gloss plastic tube. It has silver details and black top. The plastic is transparent, so you can see the shade. I think it costs something around 14€ and in it is 6.5 ml of product. I believe it's only sold in Müller stores.

It's not the regular applicator. This one has a slight rounded cut on the bottom to fit lips better. It creates a perfect angle for application, so you don't need to put applicator horizontally on the lips. In that little round part there's quite a lot of product in it, which means you can almost apply you're whole lip with one swipe. If you're like me and you try to perfect every little corner and also make it a bit thicker, you'll need to dip in one more time.

It's a very creamy and highly pigmented lip product. It goes on smooth and it's actually pretty wet, but thick. You have small amount of play time - approximately 3 minutes. The applicator can create perfect edges. If you're applicator is a bit too loaded with product and you push on the lips too hard, you might create stronger outer line, which almost looks like lip liner. I would advise you to work slowly and when you have less product on the applicator go to the sides, so that the edge is not as obvious. That's if you like it too look more natural. Application can look a bit uneven, depending on how you apply it and how much of it. It's nothing concerning you just have to apply it neatly.

I find that it is a bit sticky. maybe that's because I use thicker layer on my lips. So puckering up your lips is not a good idea with that one. The stickiness goes away with time, because it gets drier and drier. It feels a bit heavy on the lips.

Once this sets it does not move. I mean it! You can't wipe it off, so be careful with application. It's really long lasting. I would say you can wear it for the whole day and it would still look great. However, it didn't survive survive a meal. It went off on the inner edges of my lips.

The finish really is matte. That sickening completely matte finish. As you'll be able to see on my lips it accentuates lip lines and obviously any dry patches, so exfoliating before the use is crucial.

It has plastic artificial smell, which disappears once you apply it.

Shade 61 Velvet Rosewood is warm brownish mauve. It's actually really dark on my skin tone, but looks a bit lighter on the actual photos.

I compared it with similar shades in my collection and it's actually unique. I have nothing that could pass as a dupe. Nothing is as dark warm and such a unique mix of mauve and brown. Avon 3D Plumping Lipstick Divine Wine is a lot more purple toned, Bourjois Rouge Edition 12 Hours 33 is light and very peachy toned and Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter 96 Macaroon is even lighter and peachier.

I have naturally dry lips and this definitely dries them out a bit. I would say it's not the best for for those with dry lips, but perfect for those that like completely matte finish and long lasting power.

I also used this product in two of my makeup looks. Green and Red Christmas Makeup and Silver Metallic Eyes With Mauve Lips.

It does what it says on the packaging. It's a highly pigmented, creamy liquid lipstick that dries quickly and doesn't move. It's very long lasting and has perfect completely matte finish. A dream come true for matte lovers and I kind of think it's way better than Bourjois Rouge Velvets in terms of being a proper matte finish. For me personally, it's too drying, but I adore the shade. It's such a nice mix of brown and mauve and the fact that it's warm makes it perfect in my eyes. This is definitely a statement lip for me. It's worth checking out, if you're all about that completely matte lip.

Sanja also did a review of it here. Go check out why she likes it so much.

3rd Blog Anniversary + Giveaway

Hey Beauties!

Exactly on this day three years ago I wrote my first blog post. It feels like it has been more than three years, but it's not. I have definitely been enjoying blogging and sharing my love of makeup with all of you. In the past years I feel like I evolved the most. I got the opportunity to meet in person some of my fellow bloggers, which has been just amazing. Now my cyber friend circle has become at least a bit more real :).

In the spirit of celebrating, I decided to make a quick round up of my favorite blog posts and maybe give you some additional reading, if you just started following me.

One of the posts that take up the most time and work are those that include swatching whole range of lipsticks. Besides being time consuming it's also one of the most fun posts to write. You get to see yourself with multiple crazy shades and the best part is that you can create so many different makeup looks in the future. Here are my posts about Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte Lipsticks and Avon 3D Plumping Lipsticks. Another favorite post of mine is Favorite Fall/Autumn Makeup And Nail Polishes, because the background was just so appropriate. Nature truly is the best prop. I also really liked my review of Catrice Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer. It was one of those reviews where I really tested all claims. Dos and Don'ts of Makeup was one of the most fun to make, because I was laughing so bad. It was fun to do all the wrong things and think about when I was actually applying my makeup this way in the past. I think it's a basic guide that anyone can relate with.

I promised myself to do more creative makeup looks in the future and I think I'm on the right path. I will confess that creative makeup is not my forte and I much more enjoy creating natural wearable enhancing makeups, but every now and then I get a few ideas that I just have to try. Two of my favorite creative makeup looks are Fairy of Gold and Pretty Leopard Makeup. I also try to have more time to do my nail art and I really liked  the end result of Blue Sweater Nails and Cute Matte Valentine's Day Nails.

It has become a tradition for me to do a giveaway on my blog anniversary. I will give away some of my favorite products and the ones that I really want you to try. I am sorry, but the giveaway is Slovenian only. All you have to do is fill Rafflecopter down below. Giveaway is open until April 1st. I will email the winner and if he or she doesn't write me back in 24 hours, I will choose another winner.

In the giveaway you can win Avon Skin So Soft Golden Bliss Silky Hand and Body Suffle, Dvorec Trebnik Shea Butter Cream, Metallic Powder and Blush Brush, Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte Lipstick in Adoring Love, Avon Ultra Glimmerstick Lip Liner in Nude and Oriflame The One Illuskin Face Primer.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Thank you all who take the time to read my posts and leave comments. I am very grateful that I can share my passion with so many nice people and the fact that I still love doing it as much as I did in the beginning.

Sending you lots of love,
Petra :)

Review: L'Occitane Folie Florale Petal-Soft Body Milk

Hey Beauties!

I have a treat for you today. Lovely spring smelling body milk that will leave your body scented and moisturized. L'Occitane Cherry Blossom collection is huge and it offers variety of products all spring scented. I was trying out their Folie Florale Petal-Soft Body Milk and this will definitely be in my monthly favorites.

It comes in a transparent plastic bottle. The bottle has a rhombus shape if you look down at it. It's somewhat different to the usual bottle designs.

It also has nice cherry blossom details which are actually 3D printed into the bottle. Speaking of 3D, there is also Braille writing on the back.

Plastic silver top also looks like it's part of a magic bottle and it compliments the design nicely. I do have a problem with it though. The part that actually opens up is so small that I almost always break my nails, when I try to open it. This is a disadvantage to me. It looks pretty, but it's not functional, especially considering it's for women, who a lot of them have long nails and this would be very inconvenient.

L'Occitane says that this body lotion leaves the skin soft, moisturized and perfumed with a fruity, floral, sparkling scent. A cherry blossom floral water from the Luberon region of Provence reveals green, botanical notes that recall the delicate flowers. It's enriched with shea butter.

It costs 23.40€ and in it is 250 ml of product. You can buy it here. Here you'll also find the ingredients list.

It's pastel pink a bit more liquid body milk. It's thin in consistency and spreads easily. Shea butter in it makes it stick better and also make it feel slightly buttery. It's a really nice mix of regular light milk or lotion and a bit of butter for that slip and moisture.

It soaks into the skin quickly, but leaves behind slight bit of that shea butter layer, which moisturizes the skin and makes it feel soft. This is more of a lightweight moisture. My skin feels nourished and soft the next day and the best thing about it is that I can still smell it. I usually use body products in the evening, go to sleep and then recheck it in the morning.

If your skin is very dry, this probably won't be enough for you. But if you're looking for something lightweight with still good moisture effect, you'll like it.

It smells amazing, but you'd expect this from L'Occitane. It's such a unique mix of fruity sweetness and a bit of floral freshness. I would say that it's more on the gentle sweet fruity side. At least that's how I smell it and I adore the scent. It's perfect for spring and I can't wait for t-shirts to be in season, so I can smell it on me. As I said before, this still smells on me in the morning. It's a powerful scent as far as the long lasting power goes, but a gentle sweetness otherwise.

It's obvious that I really like this body milk. I've already used up more than half of it and I think I need to stop now, if I want to use this on warm spring days. It's a really nice lightweight moisturizing body milk and I love the unique thin consistency mixed with shea butter that leaves that soft layer on the skin. Smell is the star of it and you'll love it if you like fruity gentle sweet scents. The bottle is obviously just as gorgeous and would be a nice gift on itself, but the top is not practical. I encourage you to smell this, if you're near the store.

Review: Avon Color Trend Kiss'n'go Lipstick in Amour

Hey Beauties!

For Valentine's Day Avon surprised us bloggers with a cute Valentine's inspired package. Among other products there was also their Color Trend Kiss'n'go lipstick in shade Amour. I was actually admiring it in the catalog, because it had such a pretty heart design on it.

It comes in a pink plastic packaging, a bit cheaper one looking. On the packaging are light pink hearts and a bow. In the middle it's transparent and you can see the lipstick.

The bullet has super pretty hearts embossed in it and it's such a cute touch. I think Color Trend line is targeted more toward teenagers, but I'm not sure. It seems so, because of the design and prices.

Regular price of it is 4€ and in it is 3.6 grams of product. It actually comes in 4 shades. I got the shade Amour, which is warm light pink.

I compared it with some other shades. MAC Patisserie is brownier pink, while Avon 3D Plumping Lipstick in Stolen Kisses and Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte Lipstick in Pure Pink are both a lot more intense and darker. Stolen Kisses is brighter and a bit more peach, while Pure Pink is a bit more of a dirty pink.

It's a very creamy lipstick with lots of shine. It's almost like a hybrid of lip balm and lipstick. The formula actually reminds me a bit of the MAC Lustre finish, but it's less buildable than MAC's. This is definitely for those who like lighter shades with lighter coverage. It also means that it's one of those fuss free products that you can apply on the go and don't have to worry about it being perfect.

It stays shiny for a long time. If your lips are dry, it does get a bit more matte through the day, but I just always reapply it. It's obviously not long lasting

On the lips it feels moisturizing and very comfortable, like a lip balm, but slightly heavier.

It has a vanilla spicy cookie smell.

Lightweight, creamy, shiny lipsticks perfect for those that don't like full on lipsticks, but want a bit of color. Light warm pink shade will suit many different skin tones. What sells is the most it's the super pretty heart design. This would be a great gift for anyone that appreciates small details like that.

*Avon sent me this product.

Review: Essence LE Wake up, spring! Eyeliner Pens (01 happy first day of spring, 02 let's the spring begin, 03 spring a-ling a-ling)

$

Hey Beauties!

When I saw promo photos of Essence Limited Edition Wake Up, Spring! I immediately noticed pastel eyeliners. The shades looked so pretty. It's really hard to get a hold of colorful eyeliners in our drugstores, even more so to find a white one. Obviously I couldn't just take one shade, so I got all three.

Eyeliners come in a pen like shape. They all have colored packaging that corresponds the shade inside. Each costs 2.19€ and in it is 1 ml of product.

It has a foam tip applicator, which is the first problem. I have all three shades and the tip on all of those just doesn't get saturated enough. White one gets saturated the most, while lavender the least. You can see that there is still product in the pen, but it doesn't want to come down to the tip. I actually had such a hard time working with lavender shade that I bent the tip to almost break it and at that point the product was coming out from that point of breaking it. I then applied it on my hand and with a tip on my eyes. Since then I store them down wards and they work a bit better.

Eyeliners come in three shades 01 happy first day of spring is cool lavender shade, 02 let's the spring begin is white and 03 spring a-ling a-ling is retro minty green. All the shades are fairy light pastels.

The formula of these is like a milky cream which needs a bit of time to dry down completely. It doesn't move once it sets, but if it gets in contact with water, it will come off. I also find them a bit sticky, so you definitely need to use some sort of eye primer, if you're eyelids are a bit droopy.

The pigmentation is also not as good as I would expect. It depends from shade to shade. I find that white and lavender are more pigmented, while I always struggle to build up intensity with minty green. You need to go over the line multiple times to get the full color payoff. If you press the tip down too much you also get an uneven application. For some reason this eyeliner just doesn't work when I apply it over eye shadows. It's like the tip gets dirty with the eye shadow and doesn't want to perform. I really dislike this. It's obvious that I'm gonna apply it over eye shadow.

I also applied all three shades with different eye makeup to show you how they look like on me.

01 happy first day of spring

Pastel lavender shade is my favorite of all three, but it performs the worst. When I tried it at home it almost seemed like it was already a bit dried up. I might have picked the wrong one up in the shop. The tip doesn't want to get saturated. It took some real effort to make it look like it's OK. When I used it for the second time it worked better, because I had it stored down.

02 let's the spring begin

White performs the best. It's the only shade that the tip actually gets saturated, although it's less pigmented, because it's the lightest. White is great for creating double wings, 60's inspired makeup or just adding the light on your eyes.

03 spring a-ling a-ling

This retro minty green also doesn't get saturated enough, but performs a tad better than lavender, although it's less pigmented. I am a bit on the fence when it comes to the shade. It's unique, but I would almost like it to be a bit brighter.

Obviously you can wear these as an eyeliner on its own - even though they are very light, but my eyes just look very tired without some kind of dark color around the lash line, since my eye color is pretty dark. But you can also use it as I did, just slightly above the black liner. It almost creates colorful shade.

Here I also used all three of them together. It's a bit difficult to go over them with black liner, because the texture gets pretty thick. But you can definitely make it work with patience and precision.

I am disappointed by these eyeliner pens. The shades are unique and I love the milky finish, but it seems like Essence didn't put much effort into the performance. The tip doesn't get saturated enough and it's really hard to work with on top of eye shadows. If this was maybe in a gel form or liquid with a brush, I'm sure it would work better. I wouldn't recommend these. But if you'd still like to get these colorful eyeliners for whatever reason, I would say store them downwards and check in the store that they haven't been opened yet.

DIY Fluffy Bunny

Hey Beauties!

Today I'll show you a tutorial for a fluffy bunny that you can make yourself with the things that you probably already have at home. I've seen these bunnies all over Pinterest and they were just so darn cute that I had to try to make them. By no means is this my idea. I used what I found in my house, so it's not the same materials that were used in most Pinterest tutorials. I also did it a bit fluffier than they made it on Pinterest. Hope I'll inspire you for a last minute Easter DIY or just kill you with cuteness.

For this DIY you'll need some sort of yarn, foam, pink marker or pen, black beads, cotton, thread and hot glue gun. You can use whatever colors you'd like to use or that you have at home. No need to go buy new ones.

I started by wrapping yarn around my palm. I then knotted it in the middle. Then you take the scissors and cut it so that you get these fluffy pom poms. The pom poms will be a bit too long, so you have to cut them down in a round shape. It will make the bunny fur seem more dense. This is also the most fun part of doing this, you get to play a hairdresser.

You repeat this process, but wrap the yarn only around two fingers. This way you'll get a smaller pom pom for the head.

When you have both of these you just glue them together with a glue gun.

Then you take a thread and scrunch it in your hand until you get the shape that looks a bit like nose. I also cut two threads and tied them in the middle for the whiskers. I applied a bit of hot glue where I wanted my nose to be and glued on the whiskers first and then the nose. Then you can trim the whiskers so that they're not too long and that they stand up.

I also took two of black jewelry beads and glued them on to represent the eyes.

For the ears I used the foam that usually comes in packages. Especially when you get something from China, they always have this soft thin foam to protect the products. I cut out ear shapes and painted the pink part with a paint marker. You can also use permanent markers. Just something that won't go off the foam. Obviously you'll also glue these on with a hot glue gun.

The last step is to take a bit of cotton and form it into a ball and glue it on the back to represent bunny's tail. Voila, you're finished. It's easier than it sounds.

I was so excited after I made my first one that I just had to make a few more. I'll probably gift them to my friends and relatives. Aren't they cute?

All Brown Matte Makeup

Hey Beauties!

If someone would say to me choose one makeup color to wear for the rest of your life, I would choose brown. It's the most versatile color in my opinion and it literally suits everyone, you just have to choose the right shade of brown. It's the best neutral shade for my eye shadow and since the 90's lip has been back, it's also really popular as a lipstick shade.

For my eye makeup I used matte beige shade all over the lid to set eye primer. Then I applied light matte brown all over the lid and into the crease. I used medium matte brown in the outer third of the eye. Then I took dark matte brown and applied it just in the outer v corner and along the lash line to darken it a bit. For eyeliner I used gel eyeliner in a pen form and smoked it out to a wing. This will create a softer hazy line that really compliments this look. In the inner corner I used matte beige shade to brighten it up.

Last step is to apply some black mascara for volume and definition.

On my lips I used medium matte warm brown shade of lipstick that really warms up the whole makeup look and matches my skin tone. If you have cool skin tone go for something cooler more taupe like.

On the rest of my face I used medium coverage foundation, concealer and powder. I contoured lightly with a very light taupe shade and applied satin champagne highlighter. Nothing too shiny, because the whole look is more on the matte side. For my blush I mixed brownish peach and a peach to create a bit of brighter color on the cheeks.

I love this kind of makeup look and wear it often. It's the most neutral, but still statement makeup in my opinion.

Review: Diamond Beauty Puff 03 Aurora Face Whitening Loose Powder

Hey Beauties!

Powders are one of those products that I can't do my makeup without and that I'm not really fussy about. I know glowy strobbed skin is in, but I have oily T-zone, so I always powder that area. Today's review is of a loose powder that should have whitening effect on your skin. It's by brand Diamond Beauty and it's called Puff 03 Aurora Face Whitening Loose Powder.

It comes in a white simple paper box. The product itself is in a transparent plastic pot with plastic black shiny lid. The lid has Diamond Beauty written on it and on the i it's a little rhinestone to represent the diamond. I find that super pretty.

The packaging is huge, it contains 30 grams of powder and costs around 18€. You can buy it here

The packaging comes sealed with sticker. It has powder puff with which you can pat the product on your face. It also has small holes on the top lid through which you can shake the product out. Powder goes through the holes with ease.

Powder is very finely milled and has pale yellow toned shade. If you look up close, you'll see small shimmer particles in it. This is because I chose the shade 03 Aurora Face, which is supposed to be whitening powder.

Let me just firstly say, that I didn't know the product will contain shimmer. I went for this one, because I thought it must be the lightest shade, because it says whitening. You can also choose among two others which are 01 Princess Face (semi-matte) and 02 Dolly Face (matte)

It has a bit of wet consistency, which blends well into the skin. It definitely mattifies any shine and on me the shade turns into nothing. It's lighter than my skin tone, but because I put light layer on the face, it doesn't seem too light. I find the finish matte. The shimmery particles in powder should brighter and whiten your face.

It has no smell

I can't say how efficient it is in actually brightening the face, but since it is so light, it does create a bit of a lighter base where I use it as opposed to where I don't.

Now onto the shimmer, which is my biggest problem with this powder. You almost can't detect it in natural lighting unless you come very close to the skin. I also tried to apply it all over my face and took a photo with flash. You'll see all these comparisons on a photo down below. I don't see much difference. Obviously with flash my skin looks a bit more radiant and less flat, which could be because of the shimmery particles in the powder.

Shimmer is a problem for me in the sun. It pops out and it's definitely seen under harsh sunlight, which means I wouldn't wear this on a sunny day or at least not all over the face. If you look at my skin on the sun, you still won't see it as shimmery, because again from a safe distance it doesn't really show up.

You can click on the photo to see it in full size. From left to right: skin with foundation and concealer, but no powder; powder all over my face in natural lighting (shade); skin with powder under a flash and skin with powder in the harsh sunlight.

The shimmer just seems to bother me too much to actually wear it all over my face. I like to use it under my eyes, because I have a feeling that it reflects a bit of light and it lifts the shadows

On the left side is my skin without the powder and on the right one is with the powder.

Here you can also see how it looks like up close. Shimmer in natural light and on sunlight.

The powder definitely leaves a powdery finish on the skin, especially if you apply it with the puff. I did that as it was just so enjoyable to pat that puff all over my face - you know like in old school movies. With puff you get a much stronger payoff and it looks powdery, while with fluffy brush you can apply it lightly and make it less obvious. It doesn't look cakey, because it is finely milled. It lasts well on my skin, I would say for about half a day. Later the oil will show through. Keep in mind that I have combination skin and I only get oily on my T-zone.

This is a good powder. It's finely milled, it mattifies, looks a bit powdery, but doesn't get cakey. Shimmer particles do reflect a bit of light on the face therefore lifting the shades, but the effect is very slight. It's more because the shade of powder is light that makes it looks whitening on the skin. My only problem with it is the shimmer in it, which stops me from using it all over my face. This is obviously my fault, because I didn't research the product well enough before I selected it. I would say, if you're like me and you hate shimmery powders, go for the other two. You get a huge amount for the price and a very nicely milled powder.

I already reviewed Diamond Beauty Eyeliner in 01 Forever Black, which is one of my favorite eyeliners now. I was really impressed with it. Both products are from online store Japan Skin, which has a lot of famous Japanese makeup brands at an affordable prices. Check them out, if you've always wanted to try some Asian makeup products. Also leave me some suggestions of other online shops that sell Asian makeup, I am in this stage of obsessing over Asian skin care and makeup.

March 2016 Favorites

Hey Beauties!

In March I've been testing a lot of new products and a lot of those ended up in my monthly favorites. It's been a very spring inspired month in terms of products and I hope it gets warmer soon. For some reason it's still not as warm as it should be and I'm getting impatient.

Innisfree Smart Foundation Perfect Cover - 13 Light Beige

This is in my favorites purely because of the shade. It's very light, actually the lightest foundation shade that I own and since I'm even paler now than I am in summer, this almost matches me perfectly. I always use too dark foundations and have to blend them down my neck, because non of them in the drugstores are light enough. This one is actually light enough, although I am not crazy about the coverage. I expected it to be full coverage, but it's very light medium. It's also a bit obvious on the skin. I'll talk more about it in a separate review.

theBalm Nude'tude Nude Eyeshadow Palette

I've been testing this and I already have my favorite shades. Review of this will be up soon, but until then I'll tell you that my absolute favorite shade is Seductive - very warm almost yellow toned light brown. I also really like Sultry - perfect warm matte brown for the crease and Sexy - matte purple burgundy shade. Eye shadows are really pigmented and they blend with ease. I'm not sure that they are as long lasting as Zoeva Cocoa Blend shades, but I'll have to test it a bit more to make up my mind completely. It's not my usual shade selection, because there is a lot of cooler shades, but the ones that I like are really pretty.

Ebelin Precision Eye Brush

This is a very dense pointed brush with great precision. I use this around my lower lash line to darken it a bit. I like that I can apply it very closely to the lash line and no where else. It's also perfect for blending out pencils.

Essence Smokey Eye Brush

Another great brush for smoking out the eye shadow or pencils. It's a lot winder but almost shaped like a ball. It creates a soft haze around the lower lash line and I like that it pulls it a bit down. I've been really enjoying this.

Avon Supershock Gel Eyeliner - Black

I don't believe I've mentioned this before, but this is my favorite liner in a pencil form. It's super soft and it almost melts onto the skin, that's why it's called gel eyeliner. I love to use this when I want a softer line. I apply it straight from the pen and then just blend it with the brush. It's very easy to blend and once it sets it doesn't move. If you have very oily lids, you'll need to set it with an eye shadow.

Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara - 01 blondy brows

My brows have been getting bald spots, which they always do in spring and fall for some reason. So I need all the help I can get. I started using this brow gel mascara to make them look fuller. I use this first, then apply brow pencil and then go back in with this to shape them and set them. It's a great base, because it makes pencil stick on better. I also like the super mini brush, although it does have too much product on, so I always wipe it off a bit.

Essence Eyeshadow 15 hazle me not!

While I was browsing through new Essence products I also got a look at their matte eye shadows in hope of finding another great contouring shade. I've been loving this 15 hazle me not! to contour my face with. It's a lot lighter than Essence I Heart Nude in 05 My Favorite Tauping. This is for someone very fair and I am pretty fair in this time of year. It means I don't have to think about it, I can just apply it and really can't overdue it. It's a great grey based shade, although it has a tiny bit of sheen to it. I've been loving this, since I went lighter with my foundation. It gives me the most natural unnoticeable contour. I'll have a separate review.

H&M Pure Radiance Powder Blusher - Brown Sugar

I can't say how much I love this blush. It's the most neutral matte blush that I own. It's brownish peach and I've been pairing it with my usual neutral brownish makeup. I love this, because it's not flat out matte, but still has some sheen.

theBalm Hot Mama Blush/Shadow

Since I've been experimenting with bold bright lipsticks this month, I've also been loving this blush. It's coral, has a pink base with a very gold sheen and looks so pretty bright paired with bright lipsticks. It's my go to for glowy cheeks and  colorful lips. I'll post a review of it soon.

Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte Lipsticks (Marvelous Mocha and Ideal Lilac)

Whole matte range by Avon is just amazing. I've finally tested it a bit more since my lips have been in better shape this month. I've already mentioned my favorite shades in my review, but the two shades that have been outstanding this month are Marvelous Mocha, which is a lovely warm medium brown and Ideal Lilac, which is a crazy bright fuchsia shade. One is for my neutral looks and one for when I want something bold and colorful.

Maybelline Color Show The Blushed Nudes - 447 Dusty Rose

Boy am I in love with this shade. Every time I paint my nails, I want to use this one. It's just such a pretty pastel lavender pink shade and perfect for the spring. It also lasts on me well. I have a review here

L'Occitane Folie Florale Petal-Soft Body Milk

I've already reviewed this. It's a lightly moisturizing body milk with a unique sweet fruity floral scent. I love the gentle spring scent of it and shea butter moisturizing layer that it creates on the skin. This is definitely a spring treat and I'm actually saving it for some warmer days so that I can smell it on me while wearing t-shirts.

Avon Mesmerize Eau de Toilette

My absolute favorite scent of this month. It hasn't been as warm as I would have liked it, so I think I was gravitating more towards sweet fruity scents like this one. I adore the peach scent of it and later long lasting effect of sandalwood. It's the perfect sweet spring scent. I also love the bottle, because it's so easy to carry around. You'll find a review of it here

Review: theBalm Hot Mama! Shadow/Blush

Hey Beauties!

Hot Mama has become one my new favorite blushes. As you may know I love highlighters and this is a very shimmery glowy coral blush. I usually go for peach blushes, so this is a nice alternative for those days when you really want your cheeks to convey that healthy pretty glow.

theBalm has signature vintage or rather retro packaging through their whole line. This blush comes in a cardboard packaging with a retro design of a woman in a tropical place. I am not crazy about the design. I much prefer their Manizer packaging, which is really cute, although still a bit retro. I like that it's easy to carry around and has magnetic closing

Hot Mama can be used as a shadow or a blush. In the packaging is 7.08 grams and I think it costs around 20€

Here is the ingredients list.

This looks a lot more orange in the pan than it does on the skin. If you take a glance at it, you would think another orange blush, but it's much more dimensional on the actual skin.

The base of it it's pretty pink, but golden sheen on top of it makes it look coral. It's such a unique shade and the golden sheen on it is everything.

Mary-Lou Manizer is my favorite highlighter of all time and it's a light golden champagne shade. Hot Mama has a darker and more yellow golden sheen on top of it, but the formula of gold sheen seems very similar to Mary. It's finely milled and it gives a beautiful sheen rather than glittery look.

Texture is a tiny bit wet, which means it stays on like crazy. It's one of the most long lasting blushes that I own. I can wear this the whole day and at the end it still looks exactly the same.

It's also crazy pigmented so be careful when applying it. You need the tiniest amount on the brush. Sometimes I struggle to apply just a light flush, because I almost always overdue it.

It gives the cheeks a very natural healthy flush of color and makes them stand out a bit more, because of the gold sheen. You could probably skip highlighter with this blush, if you don't like it to be too glowy. The glowy sheen makes it look very fresh and dewy looking which I really like.

Obviously you can also wear this on your eyes and it works great there too, but I always use it as a blush.

I usually go for peach blushes and I very rarely use pink. Hot Mama is the perfect coral addition to my collection. I have nothing that's the same color. The one that comes closest to it, it's blush shade from Makeup Revolution Ultra Sculpt and Contour Kit in Ultra Fair C01. In the pan they look exactly the same, but once swatched, this one is even more gold, peachier and lighter. Hot Mama is a lot more pigmented and the gold sheen is not as obvious. Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso has the most similar finish, except that Hot Mama has a bit more sheen to it and more glow.

I absolutely love the finish of this blush. Gold sheen is everything to me. If the base would be a bit peachier, I would probably wear it all the time. But because it's pink based, I like to pair it with more brighter lip colors and not so much with my very neutral makeup looks. It's crazily pigmented and stays on my skin the whole day. I think the price is good for the amount you get, but is on a bit more expensive side. If you love coral shades and adore highlighting blushes with golden sheen, you'll definitely love this.

DIY BB Cushion

Hey Beauties!

I've already talked a bit about my current obsession with Asian cosmetics. I think they are the masters of skin care as well as makeup and for some reason I am very intrigued by their brands. BB cushions were first to appear on Asian market and they're in general known for very advanced technologies and innovations. I think BB cushions are one of the easiest to use products. If you're a rookie at makeup, you'll love it. But because very little European brands do these, I'll show you how to make your own version.

Things you'll need for this DIY are:
  • Foundation
  • Liquid highlighter (optional)
  • Sunscreen (optional)
  • Moisturizer
  • Bowl
  • Spatula
  • Empty BB cushion case
  • Alcohol
  • Printable sticker paper (optional)
  • Decorative transparent foil (optional)

If you don't have any empty BB cushion case, you can buy it from sites like Ebay. They sell some empty cases of other BB cushion brands and I think there are even some DIY empty cases for the purposes that we're doing today. It's also a nice way to recycle your old, but used up cases. No need to throw it away. Plus you'll be making your own BB for a fraction of the price.

I cleaned out the whole case and at the end I sprayed and cleaned it with some alcohol. I have this Brush Cleaner spray bottle filled with alcohol. You can read how I made it here. This will kill all leftover bacteria. I obviously also cleaned my puff and the actual sponge cushion with soap and let them air dry.

You'll need some sort of bowl to mix your BB in. I used glass bowl, because it's the easiest to clean. Spatula is to help you mix it all together without touching it and putting in additional bacteria from your fingers.

After that you take your favorite moisturizer or multiple moisturizers and you add them in. Then you'll add foundation. I also added white foundation to make it lighter, because most of my foundations are a bit too dark for my current skin tone. I also added a bit of liquid highlighter for some luminosity (you don't need to do this, if you don't want it to be dewy). You can also add sunscreen, but since my moisturizers have SPF in them, I didn't add any additional sunscreen. I might add this in in the summer, when I'll need some more protection.

The ratio of these depends on what kind of BB you'd like to have. If you want it to be high coverage and more on the matte side use small amount of matte or lightweight moisturizer and add more foundation. You'll get higher coverage. If you're looking for something moisturizing and lighter coverage add more of the moisturizer. You can also add liquid highlighter to add additional dewiness. It's all up to you.

I personally mixed it so that I got lighter medium coverage with some dewiness from my very moisturizing and glowy face cream and a touch of liquid highlighter.

When you mix it all up, try it. If you don't like it, add more of what you think it needs.

When you're satisfied with your mixture pour it in the case. Make sure to fill it about two thirds. If you fill it up too much you'll get spillage from sides of the sponge.

Whatever is left in the bowl scrape it out with the cushion that's in the case. No need to waste product. Then you slowly press the sponge into the case and it's ready to be used.

You'll need to press puff onto the cushion to saturate it and transfer the BB to it. Then you just apply it on your face. It's all so easy and fool proof. You just dab it in the cushion and onto the face. So easy. It blends on itself and no need for brushes or mixing up the right shade or using moisturizer before.

This is optional step, but if you'd like to make it more personal, you can print out sticker to put on top of the case. I made this hearts leopard print design and wrote my blog's name in the middle. I printed it on a sticker paper (you can get these in most stationary stores) and then I applied transparent foil over it (the one that we used to use in school to wrap text books in). This will protect your sticker from water and other dirt. Your print will stay intact and you'll have your very own BB cushion.

Isn't this the cutest thing ever? Ever since I tried BB cushion, I thought of doing my own version with my favorite foundations. It's so practical to carry around and use for touch ups. It's also the easiest way of applying your base and the puff that comes with it does all the work for you. It blends beautifully. It also means that you have one product to put on in the morning instead of three - moisturizer, foundation and SPF.

Obviously this is by no means my idea. I've seen it in multiple videos and blogs, but I just wanted to share this idea with you and my version of it to inspire you and shorten your morning makeup routine.

I've also added a bit of demonstration. On the left side is my skin without BB and on the right side is my skin with the BB. On the bottom photo is how it looks like with my complete makeup look.

Review: Avon Best Sellers - LE Supershock Mascara Black, Face Pearls and Angled Brush

$

Hey Beauties!

Today is a long overdue review of Avon best selling products. It's their Limited Edition packaging which I actually got in February, so it's not available anymore. But they often do Limited Edition packaging and the products are also in their regular line.

Let's talk about the Limited Edition design. It features metallic gold and pink flower and leaf design, which definitely gives it an eye catching look. I love gold, so obviously anything with it looks super pretty to me.

Avon Supershock Mascara

Mascara comes in a regular plastic tube. It has black and shiny packaging with LE design on it. In it is 10 ml of product and regular price is 10.90€. Currently you can get it for 4.90€.

The wand is silicon and has small silicon bristles, which are all the same length. It's an X design from the top and the bristles are spaced in four groups of 6 bristle lines. The lines crisscross in between so that it provides grip for every eyelash. I like that there's never too much product on the brush, which means no clumps. The wand is slightly movable.

Judging by the silicon wand, I would assume it's more of a defining mascara, but Avon promises you shocking volume and separation. It also promises coverage with just one application and 12 x thicker lashes without clumps.

The formula is on the dry side. That is something I've noticed with most Avon mascaras, that they are a lot drier like for example Maybelline mascaras. It also means that if you'll be layering it a lot, you can expect some fallout. I get little dots of mascara on my skin under the eyes, when I put more layers on. It does a descent job of holding the curl. Right after the application lashes tend to drop just so slightly, but then they stay this way for the whole day.

You can put on more coats and it doesn't clump the lashes at all. That's also one thing I've noticed with other Avon mascaras as well. They never look clumpy. One coat gives you a bit of definition and small amount of volume. If you apply second coat, it gives them slightly more volume and they almost look bushy to me. Not thick, but like there is a lot of lashes. It's not super defining though. I do feel like it also gives some length to the lashes. My problem with this mascara is that it doesn't give enough volume for my taste.

Here you can see how it looks like from left to right: no mascara, one coat, second coat.

And some photos with the eye makeup.

I have the black version and the color is definitely black.

It's a non waterproof mascara, but it stays on my lashes all day. I never have problems with staying power of mascaras, because I always use non waterproof formulas and they work fine for my lashes. I think Avon also makes waterproof version, but I'm not sure if it's always available in their campaigns. It goes off with any regular makeup remover.

I feel like this is for someone who has naturally thicker lashes and wants a bit of definition. For my personal taste it's not volumizing enough. I am also not a fan of dry formulas, that's why I never use waterproof mascaras. I prefer something more wet.

Avon Face Pearls

Face pearls come in plastic shiny black pot with LE design on the top. It's a screw on type of packaging. It also comes with paper box. Inside the pot it's a foam which protects the pearls from crushing together and making a mess.

In it is 22 grams (which is a lot) of product and the regular price is 13.70€

Let's clear something up first. Those face pearls are highlighting pearls. Avon also has Avon Glow range of pearls, which has three shades available: Deepest Bronze, Bronzed and Pink Bronze. Those are supposed to be bronze shades. But I've researched some swatches on the internet and my face pearls seem very similar to the shade Pink Bronze. I can't say for sure if those are in fact the same products, but I've contacted Avon, so I'll update it here when I get the information.

Onto the actual pearls. There's two shades of pearl. One are beige pink and other are pink. I swatched both of the pearls and they look totally different swatched than in the pot. Light pear is white based very pale pink an darker looks like proper blush shade, very burnt brick peachy shade. Don't let that fool you either, because once you swirl fingers in it or brush you get something super light. It's a very light white based pale pink highlighting shade

Formula of these seems a bit wet. If you apply small amount you can see that the pearls provide a very finely milled pearl finish with some added small shimmer. The more you apply it the more intense it looks. I have to say that it looks very natural and gives a nice shine

I compared it to some other highlighters. It's similar to P2 Glow Up! Highlighter in 021 High Beam when it comes to shade, but P2 is a lot more metallic, shinier and has a definite warm gold sheen to it. theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer is a lot more intense  and metallic. Shade is obviously very different, because this one is yellow gold. Avon Face Pearls are the most subtle looking of them all.

They are pigmented, but very light in color. It's something for very light to light skin tones. It might even work on medium skin tones. It gives a slight bit of pink sheen to it (which is a bit cooler), but mostly it's very white. It's almost pearly shiny, not in that obvious metallic way and the shimmer is very small.

The staying power is average. It fades through the day. By the end of the day, it looks very mixed in with the skin and just slightly noticable.

Face Pearls are for those that like natural, but still shiny in a non obvious way finish of their highlighters. It's on the cooler side. The shade is very light and perfect for fair skin tones. Since I am a highlighter freak and I love warm toned highlighters, pearls obviously didn't impress me that much. I also like a really obvious highlighter, which this one is not. It's very natural and a lot less shiny than most of my highlighters. It's a very good natural looking highlighter, just not after my own taste.

Avon Angled Face Brush

Face brush comes with a matte black handle with shiny, but not metallic LE design on it. The bristles are white, but brown colored at the tips and synthetic. The regular price of it is 8€

Bristles are cut in an angled way, which means this is great for applying highlighter and contour. It also says to be used with blush, but I like my blush applied with a rounder or flat brush, not an angled one.

The bristles are extra soft, which is always a win in my opinion. I personally adore soft brushes and am always on a search for more really soft ones. This is definitely one of the softes brush that I own. It's still dense enough that it nicely picks up the product and because of the shape does all the work for you. Size is perfect for fitting in the contours and highlights of the face.

It applies highlighter in a nice C shape.

I also really like it for contouring, because you can create fairly sharp lines, but still blend them out a little.

Brush is definitely a winner in my opinion and I would love to try some other brushed from them. Especially powder brush.

Here is also makeup look where I used all the products mentioned in this post.

* Products were sent to me by Avon.

Danes bom ocenile ene izmed Avonovih najbolj prodajanih izdelkov. Ti so del omejene kolekcije, ki sem jo prejela že v februarju in je ni več na voljo. Ampak Avon večkrat izdaja dizajne z omejenimi kolekcijami.

Dizajn omejene kolekcije predstavlja kovinske zlate in roza cvetove in liste. Vsekakor privlačen izgled. Sama obožujem vse kar je zlato, zato mi je ta dizajn še posebej všeč.

Avon Supershock Maskara

In nekaj fotografij maskare z očesnim makeupom.

Kroglice so v dveh barvah. Ene so bež roza druge roza.

Avonove kroglice so najmanj očitne izmed vseh.

So dobro pigmentirane, vendar je odtenek zelo svetel. Bleščice so zelo majhne.

Ker sem sama obsedenka z osvetljevalci in ker obožujem osvetljevalce s toplim podtonom me seveda ta ni preveč navdušil.

Ščetine so izredno mehke, kar jaz obožujem.

Hey Beauties!

Pink makeup is probably the last thing you'd expect from me. I've stated multiple times that I am not a fan of pink, but that has changed quite a bit. I am still not a lover of it, but I do appreciate the color and the right shades of pink for my taste. I've also mentioned that I am really getting into pink lipsticks this spring.

Today's collaboration is with the lovely Polona from Uniqa Poly blog. She features various reviews of different priced products. I really like her detailed and informative reviews, because that is something I look for in a blog when I search for certain products. She's also the first to inform me about makeup novelties and she has the best unique jewelry pieces.

Eyes

Pink is the least interested to me in the form of an eye shadow. For some reason they usually are cooler toned and they're way to girly for my personal taste. Nonetheless, I still have a few pink eye shadows in my collection.

Sleek i-Divine Ultra Matts V1 Brights is a nice palette with very bright colorful shades. Among these you'll also find three pink shades. Two are on the bright medium side (and pretty familiar in the shade range - Pout and Pucker) and one - Floss is a very pale flesh toned pink great as a base. Other two pops of pink I like to use on the lid or as an addition to other eye makeup.

theBalm Nude'tude palette has one very wearable shimmery pink called Stubborn. This can be used all over the lid for a romantic light feel or in the inner corners to bring some light in there.

Essence All About Roses palette has a selection of mauve and taupe shades, but the second shade in the bottom line is also lightly pink toned. This one is again great for the inner corners or as a base.

Avon Supershock Vivid Liquid Eye Shadowin Pink Party is a stunning shimmery silver based light pink shade that looks amazing on it's own. It will give you that sleek wet look to the eyes and it lasts well on the eyes.

Avon Supershock Gel Eyeliner in Flash is one of the best gel liners in a pen form for the inner corners. This is very pigmented and has almost pearly shimmery finish. It's great for adding light to the eyes in the inner corners, for putting it in the center of the lid or around the lower lash line to make your eyes look wide awake.

Cheeks

I think pink is the most prevalent color in the blush category. Those who like blushes usually like them to be pink. Not me. I much prefer peach toned blushes, because they suit my complexion better and they go better with my warm toned eye makeup. Still, I do have a nice pink collection of blushes, although I don't use them as often as I should. I seem to gravitate towards pink more in the spring.

E.l.f. Blush palette in Light. This is a really amazing blush palette for a very affordable price. In the palette are also two pink shades. One is light cool toned and matte. The other is darker pink almost a bit coral and shimmery. The quality is amazing.

Artdeco blush in 24 Pink. This is one of my oldest pink blushes and one of the best shades for my personal taste. It's warm toned and almost looks a tiny bit peachy. It has a really nice small shimmer which looks super natural on the skin.

Essence LE Happy Girls Are Pretty Multi Colour Blush is more of a fall shade in my opinion, because it's mauve pink. I still like it, because it's a bit more dirty looking and less obvious pink. I also like it because it's very light (the pigmentation is at fault here too).

Maybelline Colorama 101 Blush is for those who love shiny blushes. This has a lot of shimmer in it for a very glowy almost highlighter kind of look. The shade is a unique mix of peachy pink and it's very light.

Catrice Defining Blush in 070 Pinkerbell is the most pigmented and bright of them all. It is an obvious cool toned fuchsia pink shade. This is crazy pigmented and almost a bit too classic pink for my taste, but goes amazing with fuchsia lipsticks.

By Nanda Three Colour Blush in S01 is pretty light shimmery blush. I really like this one. It's very light and the shimmer is not as obvious, but looks very naturally glowy on the skin. I also like that you can mix your own shade. Gold shimmer in the middle gives it a warmer tone, which I adore.

Lips

My favorite way of using pink shade is on the lips. I've really stayed away from pink lipsticks for a very long time. I didn't like the usual cool toned pink lipsticks, because they clashed with my warm skin tone. But since lipsticks shades have gone wild, I've been liking a lot of pink shades more and more. I especially adore unique fuchsia toned pinks.

Essence Longlasting Lipliner in 02 Sweetheart is really pretty medium pink shade. The formulation of it is so creamy that you can easily mistake it for a lipstick. This is a great way of wearing pink lips, but not spending money on a whole lipstick.

Avon Ultra Glimmerstick Lip Liner in Pink Cashmere. This I wouldn't wear all over my lips, because it's a drier formula. It's a great outline for any pale pink lipsticks.

Avon Ultra Glimmerstick Lip Liner in Pink Bouquet is fairly neutral light pink that can be paired with most pink lipsticks. Because it's quite stiff it means that you can create a nice precise outline for those perfect lips.

Avon Kiss'n'go lipstick in Amour is for those that don't like pigmented colorful lipsticks. This is very sheer, warm toned neutral pink that will suit most skin tones. It has a nice almost lip balm feel to the lips.

Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro lipstick in Not in Love is great very red toned pink alternative. This is super bright and amazingly paired with summer skin. It's one of the most unique pinks.

Avon Ultra Colour Indulgence in Petal Pink is very pale cool toned fuchsia pink. This would look amazing with cool fair skin tones.

Avon 3D Plumping lipstick in Pucker Up is one of those fairly classic bright pinks that will also look amazing on many skin tones. It's a bit barbie like for me personally.

Avon 3D Plumping lipstick in Heat Wave is a bit more red pink and bright enough to look good with many different eye makeups. It's also on the warmer side for all of you who have warm skin tones.

Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte lipstick in Posh Petal is a shade of it's own range. This is such a unique mix of classic pale pink and fuchsia undertone. It's more of cooler baby pink and this would look amazing paired with cooler blond hair. It's also a really nice shade for fair skin tones, because it's cooler and still gives a slight bit of pink tint.

Avon true Colour Perfectly Matte lipstick in Ideal Lilac is one of my favorites. This is unique mix of bright pink and cool fuchsia. I find it one of the most unique bright, but not dark pink shades.

Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte lipstick in Pure Pink is one of those very warm toned almost nude pinks. It's somewhere along the lines of MAC's Patisseries. I figure this will look good on many different skin tones. It's more of a neutral shade.

Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte lipstick in Adoring Love is again one of those unique bright pink shades that almost looks a bit dirty and muted down. This will look amazing on fair skin tones as well as medium. It's on the cool side.

Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte lipstick in Spendidly Fuchsia is a brighter and more pinkier version of Adoring Love. This is for those that like to be seen and just adore bright pinks. It's very blue toned.

Nails

Pink is not my usual color for the nails, but I do have some unique shades that I love to wear. I've especially enjoyed muted pale pinks these few months.

Maybelline Color Show LE Blushed Nudes in 447 Dusty Rose is the most unique mix of pale pink and lavender. I adore this shade, it's been on my nails for the whole past month and still going strong.

Ciate Paint Pots in Serendipity is a nice top coat with redish pink shimmer that you can put over other shades to bring some pink to them. The shimmer in it is very small and applied pretty evenly.

Maybelline Colorama in 317 is one fo those really birght fuchsia toned pinks and it's one of my favorite bright pink shades. I especially love wearing it in the summer. The shade is pretty unique and everyone seems to like it.

Golden Rose Color Expert Nail Lacquer in 102 is dirty brown based warm pink. This is great for those who don't really like pink, but love browns and nudes. It looks really pretty on fair skin tones, because it's a bit darker and won't make your nails disappear.

Maybelline Colorama in 77 is a very baby pink shade and for some reason I really like it. It's a pastel pink, but seems almost a bit warm toned to me. A really nice understated pink nail polish.

For someone that doesn't like pink I sure do have a nice selection of pink products, right?! Pink is really starting to grow on me, especially in spring time. My favorite are still pink lipsticks. Let me know what are your favorite pinks to wear.

I would like to thank Polona for collaborating with me on this post. It's always fun to present one theme with two different personal tastes. I encourage you to check out her blog and fall in love with her informative reviews. Don't forget to read her version of pink products for the spring here
