Trend Alert 2018: Pink Eyeshadow

$

Pink is usually reserved for spring. But it's making a comeback in the form of an eyeshadow this fall. I've been seeing pink eyeshadow looks on famous beauty bloggers as well as Hollywood superstars. Apparently, you'll be looking through pink colored glasses this season. Pink eyeshadow is not the easiest to wear, since it has a certain 80's vibe, but it can be done. You can create subtle rosy hues or go for bold vibrant pink shimmery lid. It's all up to your personal style and level of commitment to this trend.

I have made two pink eyeshadow maekup looks inspired by this trend. The first one is pink toned crease paired with shimmery mauve lid. It's a classic glam look with matte crease and metallic shimmery lid. Because I like monochromatic makeup looks, I also paired it with a pink blush and nude pink matte lipstick.

I decided to build up my crease slowly, adding darker pinks as I went on.

On the lid I applied two versions of shimmery eyeshadows and blended the edges with a darker pink. Because black can often times look to harsh with pink, I decided to add brown eyeliner. The look is finished with lots of mascara and pink toned inner corner highlight.

The second makeup look is much simpler and a bit more everyday appropriate. I did an all matte pink lid with shimmery inner corner to add some sparkle and brightness. I paired it with a pinky lip gloss lip to contrast matte eyeshadow look.

This is a very simple look. I applied pale pink in the crease and a more medium toned pink in the crease. Finished it with brown eye pencil, mascara and shimmery inner corner highlight.

Pink is not my favorite color when it comes to eyeshadows. I much prefer something more mauve or purple. But I did browse through my eyeshadow collection and found some that I would use to create these kind of on trend pink looks. I included some more vibrant pinks as well as some more wearable washes of pink that almost lean muddy or purplish. It doesn't matter the shade, you can definitely steer away from bold pink and get more subtle hues, when it comes to adopting trends to your liking.

Avon True Colour Eyeshadow Rose Awakening shade 1 - pearly white based pastel cool pink. Great for all over the lid to create some light and brightenest or for the inner corners.
Avon True Colour Eyeshadow Rose Awakening shade 3 - muted medium warm pink. This is one of those really wearable pink shades that will suit cool as well as warm skin tones. I would put this all over the lid with some inner corner highlight.
Avon Mark Epic Intense Eyeshadow Mini Palette Color Crush shade 4 - medium pink with a cool purple sheen. This one almost looks purple on the lid and it gives off more of a fuchisa vibes. It's still in pink family.
Sleek i-Divine Ultra Matts V1 Floss - matte pastel pink great for building up the crease or for the inner corner.
Sleek i-Divine Ultra Matts V1 Pucker - vibrant magenta pink. This is for those of you that would go all the way in. This really gives you a bright pop of color to the lid.
Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Nougat - matte pastel mauve pink. This one is again great for building up that crease and it has a more neutral almost brownish base to it.
Makeup Revolution Soph X Pink Champagne - pastel shimmery pink with cool white sheen. This is the shiniest from this bunch and it's great as an inner corner highlight. It almost leans a bit purple already.
Makeup Revolution Soph X Strawberry Sweets - medium redish pink that will suits more those of you with warm skin tone. It's almost leaning on red, but it's still pink, just a lot warmer than most of the other shades.

Colourpop She Babe - light satin muted baby pink. If you have fair skin tone, this would look amazing all over the lid. It's got just enough muddy brown base to it and lovely satin sheen.
Colourpop She Dainty - light metallic dusty pink with cool sheen. This one also has that dusty wearable base to it and incredible metallic sheen. It's great to use as an inner corner highlight or a pop of color on the center of the lid.
Colourpop She Mademoiselle - light metallic mauve. This one has a lot of brown base to it and it's probably the most wearable shade. It's almost more brown than pink, but the sheen it's still pink toned, just warmer and more brown toned. Great for a subtle pink sheen all over the lid, if you're not up to a bold pink color.
Colourpop She Dear - medium matte warm red pink. This is again one of those shades that you wouldn't consider pink, but it is in its definition, it's just very warm toned and has that redish tone to it. This would be great as and all over matte lid look.

I've definitely forgotten about pink eyeshadow, even though it can look quite romantic and fun. It's more on my mind when the spring rolls in. But it's fun to see different makeup looks for fall rather than just always go for wine and burgundies. Pink can sometimes look too girly for my personal liking, but it's all about choosing the right shade and pairing it with other neutrals. Do you ever wear pink eyeshadow and will you get on with that trend?

Marble Nails

I've just been loving marble design on everything lately, especially paired with blushing pinks. My first attempt at marble nails was a disaster, so I looked up some of tutorials on YouTube. I used the same technique that Kristin Gardner showed in her tutorial. I think it definitely made it look the most realistic with the littlest of effort.

I applied white nail polish as a base. Then I used small piece of sponge and dabbed a bit of light grey polish in an uneven pattern. This layers more depth to your design, even though it's very subtle.

Then I applied a dot of white, grey and sheerer black nail polish and picked it up with a ball of plastic wrap that you usually use for food. The trick is to not get it too perfect. The more rough the ball is, the more random pattern.

After that I took small striping brush and went in with that sheer black nail polish again. I created small wiggly lines where there were splatters of black already. Keep the brush almost dry and create curved lines to make it look more realistic. I also took a bit of metallic gold nail polish and created some accents with it. This juts gives it even more depth. I finished with a fast drying shiny top coat to give it that marble shine.

This is such a chic nail look that looks like you've tried hard, but is actually not that difficult to create. The more random the pattern, the better it looks, so there's no need to be super precise.

Review: Asian Sheet Masks - Innisfree, Etude House, Missha, My Beauty Diary, Papa Recipe, Mizon

Sheet masks are one of those products that you either love or hate. Some love pampering their skin with these every once in a while and others seem to either hate the feel of a cotton sheet on the face or think it's unnecessary step in the skin care routine. I love a good sheet mask, more than I like regular clay masks. Reason being, that I associate it with pamper time and I love the feeling of sheet mask on the skin as well as the glowy effect that it leaves on the skin. It's the perfect base for special events makeup or as an extra nourishing treatment for when you're skin is just a bit meh.

Sheet masks originated in Asia, so I tend to go for their brands of masks more than European, although European brands have also been making their versions. I have decided to put all the Asian sheet masks that I have tried so far in this post. This will give you a brief review of each that I've tried and hopefully, help you decided, if it's for you or not.

Innisfree My Real Squeeze Mask - Ginseng

Sheet

It has a thin cotton sheet mask that has a good fit, but is just a bit too short down my nose. It covers my brows as well as most of the area around the eyes.

Essence

It has milky white essence that has very herbal almost soil like scent to it, which I assume is ginseng scent. It's not too strong, but definitely very natural like.

Performance

I felt that this was a very nourishing sheet mask. There was a slight sticky layer left on my skin once I took it off. My skin looked very glowy and plumped. It also moisturized well.

Price: 1.46$ (Jolse)

I also have review of two other Innisfree sheet masks.

Innisfree It's Real Squeeze Mask Bamboo

Innisfree It's Real Squeeze Mask Green Tea

Etude House 0.2 Therapy Air Mask - Manuka Honey

Sheet

It has thin cotton sheet that fits my face well. It is long enough to cover my huge nose. Eye holes are small and lip hole is the same, but turned upward. It sticks well to the skin.

Essence

Essence is milky white and feels very emollient. It has manuka honey very aromatic and sort of sweet scent, but with a tinge of citrus to it.

Performance

It feels cooling and soothing on the skin. When you take it off, it leaves behind slight sticky layer. It felt very moisturizing and nourishing. My skin looked plumped and much more elastic. I was also happy to notice that the sheet itself didn't dry out too fast, which means there's a good amount of essence in it.

Price: 1.27$ (Jolse)

Etude House 0.2 Air Mask - Snail

Sheet

Sheet is the same as with other Etude House Air Masks, so thin cotton and it fits well. Long enough to cover the nose and small eye holes. It's very saturated with essence and sticks well to the skin.

Essence

Another milky white essence that is quite liquid. The scent is sort of fresh, but it doesn't remind me of anything in particular.

Performance

It felt sort of soothing on the skin and I didn't feel any irritation from it. I'd say that this is more nourishing formula, but it's also nicely moisturizing. On the skin it leaves a bit of sheen. My skin definitely felt plumper after I took it off and my spots felt a bit calmed down. Snail is knows for being one of the best ingredients for healing, so it makes sense that it felt soothing.

Price: 1.27$ (Jolse)

I already have reviews of two other types of Etude House sheet masks, so you can read about those in a separate post.

Missha Pure Source Cell Sheet Mask - Pearl

Sheet

It has fairy thin fabric sheet mask, but it's definitely on a thicker side compared to some others. The fit is good, but it could be longer down the nose. It also has bigger eye holes that could be tighter in my opinion.

Essence

Essence is milky white. It has a mix of floral and herbal scent to it that is subtle. There is a lot of leftover essence.

Performance

It dried out fairly fast on my drier parts of the face. Skin felt nourished, hydrated and it definitely looked brighter. My complexion was more even toned, but I've actually had more brightening masks before. It left lovely glow on my skin, but didn't feel sticky. There was a bit of irritation on my upper lip, because I had some dry cracks there, so I'm not sure if I would use this on a very sensitive skin.

Price: 1.89€ (Notino)

Missha Pure Source Cell Sheet Mask - Honey

Sheet

Another fabric thin sheet that sticks well to the skin. It has that weird upward mouth opening that so many Asian masks have.

Essence

It's a thin and milky white essence that has a true honey scent. The scent reminds me of The Body Shop Honeymania Body Scrub scent that I once had in a mini size. There is a lot of leftover essence.

Performance

Essence soaked in the skin well and it didn't feel sticky. It was very moisturizing and nourishing. My skin had nice glow to it, more of that proper healthy sheen, once I took it off.

Price: 1.89€ (Notino)

Missha Pure Source Cell Sheet Mask - Rice

Sheet

A slightly thinner cotton sheets that is super soft and fits well, apart from the weird mouth opening. Eye holes are a bit more oval.

Essence

Essence is milky white and very saturated through the sheet. It absorbs into the skin well. The scent is kind of weird, because it's like a mix of soothing baby powder and something being burnt while baking cookies for example. It's a bit odd, but not unpleasant.

Performance

It felt soothing on the skin and it never really dried out completely. When I took it off, my skin looked brighter and more even toned. Mask also felt very nourishing and hydrating as well as slightly sticky. My was definitely softer after I took it off. I noticed the scent lingering on my skin and after a while it sort of reminded me of Library of Fragrance Baby Powder scent.

Price: 1.89€ (Notino)

My Beauty Diary - Black Pearl

Sheet

This is one of those really thin fabric sheet masks that sticks well to the skin. On one side it has protective plastic layer that prevents the sheet from sticking together. The fit is great. Eye holes and mouth holes are a bit big, but it's wide enough and doesn't tug across the nose.

Essence

It has slightly white essence, but it's not really what I would describe as milky. Sheet is well saturated with the essence, but some other masks had more leftover essence than this one. Scent is floral and fresh, but quite strong.

Performance

It felt soothing and moist on the skin. It actually dried out faster than most of other sheet masks I have tried so far. My skin felt a bit sticky after. This one probably had one of the most noticeable brightening effect so far. My skin looked brighter in tone and much more evened out. I was the most surprised by the fact that my sallowness around the mouth was almost completely gone. Obviously the brightening effect went away as the day went one. Mask also made my skin felt nourished and moisturized.

Price: 2.03$ (Ebay)

Papa Recipe Bombee Whitening Honey Mask Pack

Sheet

Sheet is dripping with essence as you take it out. On one side it has protective plastic layer that prevents the sheet from sticking together. This was by far the thinnest sheet mask I have tried so far, again with that cotton fabric. It obviously sticks to skin very well. It also had really nice fit, it covered my whole face, the sides and nose length. Eye holes are a bit bigger.

Essence

It has liquid, transparent and slightly viscose essence. Scent is sweet, pleasant and reminds me of oranges and honey. It's not overpowering though.

Performance

It actually dried out faster on my drier parts than most of my other sheet masks, which was surprising, since it's so well saturated. My skin might have just been very dehydrated, when I used it. It left behind a slightly sticky and shiny layer. In general it felt cooling and soothing, there was no irritation. It definitely brightened up my complexion as well as around my blemish. It also felt a bit tightening on the skin and very nourishing. My skin was visibly plumper.

Price: 4-6$ (Ebay)

Mizon Enjoy Vital-up Time Calming Mask

Sheet

It has fairy thin cotton sheet that is nicely saturated. Eye holes are small (which I like, because I get a lot of hydration around eye area), but it's not long enough for my nose. Lip has small upward hole. Overall it fits well. It's also wide enough to cover the sides of my wide face.

Essence

It's a transparent type of essence that is very liquid. Scent is fruity sweet and almost reminds me of sweet mandarins.

Performance

It gives you a fresh and soothing feel. I didn't notice any irritations. When I took it off, my skin was well nourished like if I would use a nourishing cream. Layer on the skin isn't really sticky. It calmed down my pimple a bit and made it less red. In general skin felt well hydrated and in nourished, but not in a heavy way. There was no brightening effect. It also left some nice sheen on my skin.

Price: 2.99€ (TK Maxx)

To conclude, I liked all of these masks and I've already repurchased a lot of these. Some had more visible results, but it all depends on what you're looking for. I would put them in three categories: moisturizing, nourishing and brightening.

If you're looking for something lighter that will moisturize your skin well, but won't feel too heavy or glowy on your skin, then go for Etude House Hyaluronic Acid, Innisfree Bamboo and Innisfree Green Tea. Mizon and Innisfree Ginseng are those that feel like the best mix of moisturizing and nourishing at the same time and they're not too heavy either.

If you want something heavier and deeply nourishing, I recommend Etude House Ceramide, Etude House Manuka Honey, Etude House Snail and Missha Honey masks. For that added brightening effect I would go with Missha Pearl, Missha Rice, My Beauty Diary and Papa Recipe.

There is a lot of Asian online stores that you can buy sheet masks, I personally like Jolse the most. They often times have discount on different brands, so I tend to stock up on sheet masks when they're on sale. You can also find Asian retailers on Ebay and buy it there.

If you're looking for more sheet mask reviews, Mateja definitely has a lot of posts on that topic. Here reviews are more in depth and I often times go to her for suggestions on new buys.

In Slovenia you can get some of these brands on Notino (formerly known as Salma) or on Skin Trick. Ličila.si have also started to carry some of Asian brands now.

My Favorite - Foundations and Concealers

$

I got the idea to do these posts when one of my readers Sarah wrote to me and ask me, if I could do a round-ups of my favorites according to the type of product. I do monthly and yearly favorites, but in the wave of new products, I forget to talk about those staples that I actually love the most. In these posts I'll try to talk only about the products that are still available to buy, so there won't be any limited edition products here.

I'm starting this series with the basic - foundations and concealers. When it comes to foundations, I like a good coverage, although I also have some with lighter coverage for those good skin days. Semi matte finish is what I usually go for, but for winter I like something with a bit of sheen. I have about NC15 skin tone, when I'm not tanned and my skin type is combination and tends to get drier in the winter. When it comes to concealers I just love a good coverage as well, even more so than with foundations. Doe foot applicator is my favorite as well as liquid concealer formulas in general.

This is actually a BB cream, but it has such good coverage that I just consider it to be foundation. It's my winter foundation and great for mixing with others to provide a more moisturizing and skin like finish. Korean BB cream have grey undertone to them, so keep that in mind, but it actually blends into my skin tone well. It looks almost neutral and my skin tone gets slightly more neutral in the winter time, otherwise I'm a warm olive undertone. It gives the most natural almost dewy kind of sheen to the skin and looks the most skin like out of all other foundations that I own. It's got the best of both worlds, skin care and coverage. Because even though it's a BB cream this has great medium coverage. I love tube packaging with the pump. I would recommend this to anyone that wants a bit of that natural sheen on the skin, good coverage, but still needs to look natural. It's not going to be for oily skin. I've already repurchased it a few times. You can get a full size or a mini travel size.

I also use this more in the colder months, because of the formula, which is quite moisturizing and never emphasizes dry patches. It's too dark for my usual skin tone, but it has very pronounced yellow undertone, so I love mixing it with other more neutral foundations to make them work for my skin tone. It's got natural dewy sheen, but this one doesn't have as much coverage as Missha. This is more for evening out skin tone and covering minor imperfections. If you have oily skin, you'll hate it and if you have dry skin, you'll love it. It's for those that want lighter coverage, warm undertone and foundation that doesn't stick to dry patches. I liked their older version more and I hate that the new one seem to be more orange toned as well as slightly darker, but I usually use it to mix with others, so I don't repurchase it that much.

This is what I use in the summer time mostly, because I love the formula of it. It's liquid, dries down to a semi matte finish and gives nice medium coverage, but feels lightweight on the skin. I have the lightest shade which is again a bit too dark for me in the colder months, but I can wear it when I get a bit of color. It has somewhat of a more neutral grey tone to it, so I sometimes mix it with something more yellow. I think this is the best simple every day formula that most skin types would like. Great for combination skin, those that like a bit of coverage, but still prefer something more matte and lightweight on the skin. I've also repurchased this one, but not as much as others, because I mostly wear it just when I have a bit of color.

Probably my holy grail foundation that I'm never out of. It's the best drugstore foundation I have found so far for giving you that almost completely full coverage, with a semi matte finish and gives you great staying power. The shade range is quite nice too. I use the second lightest shade, because it's the only drugstore foundation that leans a bit olive toned. It can be too dark for me for the winter though. This formula has been on the market for a long time and for a good reason. It's a bit thicker and more heavy feeling than for example Catrice HD. If you're looking for something more matte, with great coverage and that will las on your skin for the whole day, then you'll love this one. I only recommend the oily/combination formula, because I've never had the dry/normal version, so I can't say how that one performs. I've repurchased it multiple times and Revlon finally put pump on this glass packaging, so it's now perfect.

It's more of a recent discovery, but has quickly become my holy grail concealer. It's another Korean brand, so the shade selection is very poor and unless you have light skin tone, I doubt you'll find the shade for you. That being said, the formula is amazing - thicker concealer with great full coverage. It still blends out well and doesn't look particularly cakey either. It fairly quickly dries down to a matte finish, but it's not drying, although I can't say how this would wear on dry skin, mine is combination. It also has great staying power. You'll like this one, if you're looking for light concealer shades and great coverage.

This is another hidden drugstore gem that not a lot of you know about. Unfortunately, the shade range is again super poor, only two shades and they are both more on the light side. It's again a bit of a thicker concealer, but not as thick as The Saem and it has great coverage. You'll like this one, if you want something more neutral in shade. The Saem is definitely on the warmer side. I don't find it too look drying on the skin and the coverage is what sells me. It's also very affordable. This would be great for almost all skin tones, except for really dry skin. Think of it as just slightly less covering version of The Saem and it's not as matte looking either.

A staple in my routine ever since it first came out and hopefully, Catrice is not stupid enough to discontinue it ever. I'm repeating myself here, but the color selection is poor and again geared toward light skin tones. Catrice should really expend their shade range since I know this concealer is very popular. It's slightly lighter, but still somewhat medium coverage and the formula is definitely more liquid than both of the others I've mentioned before, but still creamy. I call this more of a moisturizing concealer, because I reach for it, if my under eye is dry or I have some drier parts on the skin. It still dries down semi matte, but definitely feels more lightweight and moisturizing. It's also great for those no makeup days when you just want to cover some minor imperfections. This one is my most moisturizing concealer and would therefore be good for most skin types.

I use 005 Light Natural the most, but also have it in other shades for summer - 010 Porcellain and 020 Light Beige

September 2018 Favorites

This has to be one of those rare months that I'm actually including more old products in my favorites instead of the new ones. I've been testing some new products too, but mostly, my makeup has been super simple and for that I always go back to my tried and loved products.

Farmasi All In One BB - Medium to Dark

Obviously, this is way too dark for my skin tone, but I love mixing it with my light BB creams and foundations. I get pretty tanned in the summer time on my body and I have a prominent olive undertone, even though I am light in skin tone in general. This BB cream has warm tone to it, but it also looks just slightly olive. I especially liked mixing it with Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream to make the perfect shade for me this month. I also like BB cream texture, because it looks much more natural on the skin. This one has a powdery scent to it and in general looks great mixed with Missha BB cream.

This is one of those warm toned palettes that I always go for, when I want some warm mattes. To be honest, I don't use shimmery shades in this as much as I thought I would, but the mattes I do. You can see I already hit the pan on my favorite warm brown shade called Note to Self. This is just perfect to put all over the lid for those super simple makeup days. I also always use Full Zip which is basically like a very pale nude shade that I always put all over the lid to set my eyeshadow primer and make other eyeshadows blend out better. These shadows have a lot of kick back, hence my dirty palette. I'm so sorry, I didn't have time to clean it for the photo.

Caramel is another light warm caramel brown that I just adore. I put it in the crease with almost all the makeup looks that I do. It just creates such a lovely warm haze. I also started using Petra eyeshadow again, because it's the perfect redish brown for fall looks. I usually wear it all over the lid blended in with the Caramel. The formula is really nice too, not too creamy and nicely pigmented.

Essence Melted Chrome Eyeshadow 01 Zinc About You and 02 Ironic

These are such a lovely surprise by Essence. Pigmentation is amazing and they feel super creamy, so I always use eyeshadow primer underneath them to prevent any creasing. Both of these shades have very metallic and shimmery sheen. You can apply them very lightly and it mostly gives you that shimmery almost glitter effect, but if you put it full on, it's completely metallic. I love putting one or two matte shades in the crease and outer V and then applying this one in the inner part of the lid or even inner corner. Instant glam with almost no effort. These apply much more opaque with fingers. 02 Ironic is taupe brown with silver shimmer and 01 Zinc About You is mauve with silver shimmer.

I have been very low maintenance with my eyeshadow looks this month and I skipped liquid liner most of the time. Instead, I went for this warm brown kohl to add slight bit of definition. Warmth of this brown matches my eye color so well and I like that it looks more subtle than a harsh black. It's also super easy to apply and wing out because of the slant silicon applicator on the other side. Super easy to use and quick to apply.

Avon Gel Shine Nail Enamel - Mauvelous and Stonewashed Clay

I mentioned many times that Avon Gel Shine is one of my favorite nail polish formulas. It's just creamy enough and well pigmented. I especially like all of their fall colors which are my favorite in general. Mauvelous is the most beautiful medium mauve color that I love wearing in the fall time. Stonewashed is such an interesting light olive grey shade that just looks so cool. I adore this shade. It's like a fall colored nude for me.

Who doesn't like the idea of glittery nail polish that peels off in one go? I love the idea and execution of Essences's new peel off nail polish. It needs longer to dry down completely, but once it's on, it looks so pretty. It's also not long lasting on my nails at all, but I don't mind that. I can apply it over other colored nail polishes and peel it off whenever I want without any hassle. 02 razzle dazzle is really pretty. It will match my mauve colored nail polishes so well.

Dry Brushing

I had this body brush for a while and I just started getting back into using it. Dry brushing is apparently really nice for your skin, because it stimulates blood flow. I started dry brushing again more often, usually in the evening, before showering. Because I have sensitive skin, I don't do it every day, but about 3 times a week and it feels lovely. Especially on those itchy parts like on the back. It almost exfoliates your skin a bit and definitely gets your blood flowing.

CeraVe Moisturizing Cream For Normal to Dry Skin

I have already repurchased multiple tubes of this cream and I'm ready for the winter. This is apparently fairly known cream that can be used for all parts of the body as well as face. I use it for my hands, because I have eczema and therefore constantly dry hands. I wouldn't say it majorly helps with making my skin not dry anymore, but it definitely coats my skin with a protective, nourishing, moisturizing layer and the most important thing, it doesn't irritate it. It doesn't have any added fragrance. It has thicker white formula with ceramides and hyaluronic acid that isn't greasy on the hands, but still provides you with a nice velvet nourishing layer. I think this is one of those creams that you'll like if you have problems with dry and irritated skin. I have one in every bag and on my desk.

Sultry and oriental fragrance that has been one of my favorites since I got it. It's just such a nice blend of sweetness, woody notes and strong oriental feel in general. It's the perfect fall fragrance that smells sexy and exotic at the same time. I really enjoy using it and think it's underrated. A lot of Avon fragrances are. They have such a nice selection of refined scents and the prices are very affordable.

Nature and Chestnuts

I've been finally getting out a bit more...rollerblading, hiking and picking up chestnuts. Fall is my favorite season when it comes to colors. I adore mustard, burgundy, brown, olive tones in makeup as well as nature. Roasted chestnuts are my favorite snack and I can't wait for them when the fall comes around. I often spend too much time at a desk, so I'm trying to make an effort to go out more. There's nothing comparable to a crisp forest air. This month I went hiking on Pohorje (Maribor) twice and it was really nice. I also started rollerblading again, because I just don't have the same motivation in steamy hot summer weather. Soft blankets and burning the candles is back in season here in Slovenia. But so are extra dry lips and hands. There's always something good and something bad about every season. I'd love to hear what you look forward to the most as the fall comes around.

My Favorite - Powders

$

When it comes to powders, I prefer loose transparent ones. At first there were only compact powders available in the drugstores and I remember most brands didn't have loose powders yet, let alone those transparent shades. As they become popular, drugstore brands also started to do these types and now you can find them in most local drugstores. I prefer these loose powders, because they have very fine powder particles, they blend into nothing, so you can combine them with different shades of foundations and in general look more lightweight on the skin.

I use powders to set my foundation almost all the time, maybe a bit less in the winter. I don't like sticky foundation feel, plus my T zone tends to get really oily, so I like locking it in with powder. Powder also provides a smoother base for any other powder products that I put on top and prevents my foundation to move too much.

This is definitely my favorite powder that I have tried so far. It's very fine in texture and has that typical white transparent look to it. On my skin tone it blends into nothing. I like it so much, because it seems very lightweight on the skin, never looks cakey, but sets foundation well. One of its main traits is that it absorbs sebum well. It's probably the only powder that I have tried so far that really kept my T zone matte for the longest. That being said, it gives you lovely velvet finish and never looks too much. It has a bit of floral scent to it, but it's initially meant for dry and sensitive skin and I don't get any irritation from it. 15 grams seems a small amount for 18€, but I'm just finishing it now and I've had it for one year. I think it's worth the price.

Avon Mark Magix HD Finishing Powder

Another one of those white transparent powders that blends into nothing. It's very similar to Paese Rice Powder. Texture is again super fine and it blends out well, but does look just a bit more white than Paese. It also has that velvet feel to it and I don't find it to ever look cakey on my skin. It doesn't have any scent to it. The only difference between Paese and this one, is that this one doesn't absorbs sebum as well. I get oily on my T zone quicker, but still, it holds it back better than average powders. Packaging is again one of those sifters that you turn and it closes securely, so you don't spill any product. It contains 9 gram of product and the regular price is 11€.

Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder 001 Transparent

It's a drugstore favorite for many of those with oily skin. I have it in the so called transparent shade, but this one actually has a bit of warm nude tint to it. It's not as fine as those loose powders, that's why it can look a bit cakey, if you apply too much. I like this one, because it keeps your skin matte, but still not for as long as Paese Rice Powder. It's a great drugstore option. This one will also add a bit of additional coverage. I hate the packaging, because it has thin transparent plastic cap that gets broken very easily and then it starts to fall off the packaging. Super annoying. In it is 14 grams of product and I think the price is around 5€.

I really haven't explored powder category much, even though it's one of those products that I use whenever I do makeup. I'm planing on getting the RCMA transparent loose powder next, because you get a huge amount and I hear it's a good basic powder for setting makeup. I'd love to try some high end versions too, like Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder and Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder.

Review: Noelle Makeup Brush 19 and Makeup Brush Case

When a was on a day trip in Varaždin (Croatia), I found this makeup brand called Noelle in their Bipa. As far as I could found on the internet, this must be Croatian brand, but correct me, if I'm wrong. Their makeup products are available in Bipa stores. Brushes were really affordable and I'm a sucker for eye brushes, so I got the blending one. I also bought their makeup brush case which is really well made and great to travel with. For more of their products browse here

Noelle Makeup Brush 19

Packaging

Noelle has a nice selection of eye and face brushes as well as some sets. I got what seems to be blending brush, because you can never have enough of these, right?!

It comes in a plastic transparent packaging and mine has yellow handle. The bristles are 100% synthetic. They are white and the ends are brown colored. Details are rose gold colored.

It costs around 4€.

The bristles are really soft and slightly longer like most blending brushes. The tip is rounded, but I would prefer it to be more tapered, coming into a point. Bristles are also fairly sparse, which is essentially nice for subtle blend, but I would still prefer them to be just slightly denser.

Here you can see how it looks compared to Zoeva 228 Luxe Crease brush on the left and Zoeva 227 Soft Definer brush on the right. I mostly use Zoeva 227 for blending and something more tapered like Zoeva 228 for the crease. Noelle 19 seems like something in between these two as far as the length and shape of bristles goes.

Performance

I prefer it for blending, but only to subtly smudge the edges, nothing too crazy. It's not tapered enough for my personal taste to be used in the crease and since the bristles are longer it's a bit flimsy to be used for applying color all over the lid. If this would be denser, I would like it a lot more.

I have already washes it a few times and there was no shedding of the bristles, so it's well made.

Noelle Makeup Brush Case

Packaging

This is one of those cylinder shaped cases for makeup brushes. I was surprised how well made this was. Material seems like leather, is sturdy and yet soft enough. There are two buttons on each side that click and close the case. It closes securely.

This type of makeup case comes in four shades - light pink, light purple, light blue and white. It costs only around 7€.

Performance

You can fit most of your basic eye and makeup brushes in it. I also like the fact that you can take it in half and use each half as a brush holder. This is especially useful for whenever you're away from home and still want easy to use display of your brushes.

I wasn't as impressed with the eye brush, but then again, for the price it's actually really nice. The quality is good, I just prefer different shapes and density of bristles. Maybe I would need to try some other types of brushes. However, the makeup brush case is wonderful. For the price it's extremely well made and so practical to travel with. It holds just enough of all your basics, so you don't have to worry about your brushes getting squished and frayed while transporting. I think this would be a great gift for anyone that likes using makeup brushes and transports or travels a lot. This one I definitely highly recommend you to get, if you have a chance.

Cute Bunny Makeup

Halloween is supposedly associated with disgusting, bloody and scary costumes, but since we in Slovenia don't really celebrate Halloween, why not create something more cute. Maybe I'll do something more Halloween appropriate too, if I have time, but for now here's a cute looking bunny that you can use for any costume party. I gathered some ideas from the internet and threw them together in my own way. Who doesn't like bunnies, right?!

I started eye makeup by using three different shades to slowly build up my crease. Lighter pink on the upper parts and darker pinks concentrated more in the actual crease. Then I used concealer and cut the lid all the way out to the winged liner part. I applied shimmery pink on the lid and went over with shimmery nude that contains pink shimmer to add some more shine to it. I used black liquid liner and created slightly thicker winged out liner.

I used white face paint and created another water line. This opens up your actual eye and gives you that puppy, this time bunny, eyes. I also used black liner and drew in lower lashes. I later realized it would look prettier, if I would just apply some individual lashes instead. It looks more cartoon-ish drawn on. I also applied white pencil on my water line.

This look definitely called for some false lashes, so I tried to find more dramatic ones, but my false lash collection is poor. So I cut up another pair of lashes and added some additional outer corners on top of full strip of lashes. I wanted my eyes to look fluttery, but a bit more winged out. In the inner corner I applied a bit of matte white eyeshadow, but I didn't want anything shimmery.

I also drew on a few fluffy looking fur on my inner part of brows. For that I used white face paint and small brush.

I also used white paint to create that white rabbit nose and lip area. I used white paint as base for the nose and went over with pink eyeshadows. Lip area is mostly white face paint, a bit of brown eyeshadow for that line and black liner for whisker pores. I used pink lip liner and only colored out upper lip. The bottom I left white.

On the rest of my face I applied the usual - foundation and concealer. I also used a bit of contour shade to bring out the cheeks. I applied fake freckles with brown liquid liner. The cheeks were colored in that cute pink blush shade all over the nose bridge. I also highlighter with slightly more pink toned highlighter.

All this look needs at the end are those bunny ears. I have black ones that I've had for a while. They aren't the prettiest. You can also just use hair band and create your own our of paper or even wires and some textiles. I curled my hair, because it looked better with the bunny ears and it also makes the whole look more romantic.

This was so much fun drawing and blending. It's so nice to just paint and not have to think about everything being perfect and lined up. I also think, you don't really need much material to recreate it. White face paint is the only thing that might be missing in your makeup, but that's available in most drugstores around Halloween. You can also use white liquid liner, if you have one.

My Favorite - Bronzers and Highlighters

$

0
I'm continuing my favorite posts with bronzers and highlighters. Bronzers are my least explored area, since I find it hard to find light shades in drugstore ranges. However, highlighters are my love and I have way too many of them.

When it comes to bronzers, I want something for lighter skin tone, either matte or just sheeny. I'm not a fan of shimmery bronzers, because I often times want bronzer to also slightly contour my face. My favorite highlighters are more of champagne and light gold shades, but I like different tones as well, considering that the formula is good. Sometimes I want something more metallic and sometimes it's all about a subtle sheen.

If there's one category that's lacking with diversity in my stash, it has to be bronzers. I only have two that I really like and I haven't had the chance to try many formulas of bronzers either. Plus it's harder to find a good affordable bronzer, when your skin tone is light.

This is my favorite matte bronzer that is very pale and perfect for winter time. It has slightly drier formula which blends nice and looks matte on the skin. I especially like this shade, because it's very light in tone. It has a bit of redish tint to it which mimics a natural sun burn so well. It applied nicely and seems to stay on the skin well.  Plus the packaging is just adorable. If you're very pale and you want something that is completely matte, yet makes you look believably sun tanned, then this is the right choice.

Most of the year I tend to wear this one. I seem to have already ordered my third one, that's how much I like it. It's a very popular formula among beauty lovers, because it contains murumuru butter which gives it that buttery, almost creamy feel. It applies with ease, blends nicely and gives your skin the best sheen. It doesn't look shimmery in any way, just a bit sheeny. I have it in the original color called Bronzer which is light bronzer shade with a bit of grey undertone. This also acts nice as a slight contour shade all in one. If you build it up, you can get a more intense color. Packaging is a bit bulky. It also has tropical pina colada scent. This one is more suited for those with light skin tones and I think the tone is more warmer, but the grey undertone in it makes it very wearable.

If you follow my blog, then you know I love highlighters. But I have so many of limited edition versions that I didn't wanted to include in this post. What's the point, you can't get them anymore anyway. So here are only those that are still sold.

This is the newest edition to my highlighter family, but it's already up in the top section. If you're on a search for gorgeous highlighter palette with different undertones that are still very wearable on most skin tones and don't look glittery, then look no further. This is definitely the best affordable highlighter palette. There's a bit of everything, something champagne, gold, pink, silver, bronzer... The formula is so buttery and pigmented. Most of these have an amazing glow without any visible shimmer or glitter chunks. This really reflects light in such an intense, yet believable way. Cardboard magnetic palette makes it easy to use and the formula blends lovely on the skin.

An iconic highlighter in beauty community. This has been one of the most popular highlighters back in the day and though it's not being talked about as much, it's still one of the best. It's a champagne gold shade that has tiny shimmer and it looks almost metallic on the skin. I use it more in the summer time, because it has quite a warm undertone to it. I'd say it's for light to medium skin tones. It has slightly wet formula which is very pigmented and blends with ease. Packaging is super cute, kind of vintage looking and not too bulky. I already hit the pan on it, which speaks volumes, considering how large my highlighter collection is.

While we're on the topic of icons, it doesn't get much better than shimmering skin perfectors by Becca. Moonstone is the second lightest shade from them and it's a light champagne color. It's not as gold as Mary-Lou Manizer, but it still has a bit of that gold feel to it, although more of a proper champagne. This is one of those shades that will look good on cool as well as warm skin tones and it can work from pale to medium skin too. It has the same slightly wet formula, but is not as metallic as Mary-Lou Manizer. It gives you such a lovely natural looking sheen without any visible shimmer. This is my favorite winter highlighter. It looks so effortless on the skin.

The award for the most reflective highlighter goes to Flexitarian by Colourpop. It's a mousse creamy kind of formula that turns into powder on the skin. You can apply it over cream or powder products. This shade is so unique, because it has a light warm champagne base, but the sheen is cooler and more white. It's the most reflective highlighter ever and I call it the glass look. It catches the light so well, but looks almost a bit sheer on the skin and there is no visible shimmer chunks at all. It's very light in skin tone, so it's more suited for fair and light skin tones. It can look too stark on medium skin tone, because of the cooler sheen. This formula also blends like a dream. It's so easy to apply and I love it in the winter for those quick out the door makeup looks, when I want something really glossy and reflective. I already ordered a backup, just in case.

I would love to try out some more bronzers, but I don't currently have any on my wishlist. It's one of those areas I'm not informed enough, especially on shades for lighter skin tones. My highlighter obsession on the other hand is real. I still have a wishlist of those that I would love to try in the future - Colourpop Lunch Money, Jouer Citrine, Becca Opal and definitely some of Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders. If you have any of these, I'd love to hear your thoughts on them.

Review: Blithe Patting Water Pack Energy Yellow Citrus & Honey and Tundra Chaga Pressed Serum

I haven't heard of Blithe as a brand before, but when I was researching these products, I found that they are pretty popular in terms of winning some beauty awards. Their page is Korean, so I can't read it. Basically, it's supposed to be a natural brand that doesn't test on animals. Their main goal is to prevent visible aging signs caused by pollution. Ingredients are supposed to be pure and packaged into modern formulas. Because it's also sold in Sephora, I would categorize it as high end skin care brand

Jolse often times has products that they give away for review purposes and you can apply. If you get chosen, they send the product to you and you write a review for your blog. I find it to be a great way of discovering new Korean skin care that I wouldn't notice otherwise.

Blithe Patting Water Pack Energy Yellow Citrus & Honey

I haven't heard of patting water packs before, but apparently it's a well known and popular routine in Korea. They describe it as innovative way to mask, because you apply this so called "mask" in the shower and it's in fact a liquid. It's inspired by Korean bathhouse tradition of splashing botanical steeped water onto the face after the cleansing to tone and brighten the skin. You should splash it onto the face for about 15 seconds and it delivers moisturizing effects as well as gently exfoliates.

Packaging

It comes in a yellow transparent packaging. I actually like the simplistic geometric inspired design. It seems high end to me. The cap is plastic, neutral toned and has nice embossed B on it. I dislike the cap system for pouring it in the water, because some of the product stays in the cap and later spills when you put it back on. Dropper would be a better solution. In the packaging you get 200 ml of product and it costs 39.70$ (Jolse).

Formula

It contains lactic acid as the second ingredient right after water. Lactic acid is alpha hydroxy acid and is known for being the safest AHA for sensitive skin, because it's fairly gentle. AHA will exfoliate your dead skin cells and make your skin smoother as well as help with reducing dark spots. It also contains honey extract for nurturing and hydrating. You'll also find orange and lemon fruit extracts in it for that brightening and reducing hyper pigmentation. Full list of ingredients here.

It doesn't contain any synthetic dyes, fragrances, mineral oils, parabens, sulfates and phthalates.

It's a liquid that has just a bit of oily feel to it (it does contain castor oil), if you apply it directly on the skin. However, you're meant to dilute it with water.

You can either use it in the shower by splashing a capful onto the face and rinsing it with water or pour a capful of mask in the clean bowl of water, making sure it is in ratio 1:100. One capful would require 700 ml of water. Then you would splash it onto the face for about 15 seconds and either let it dry or pat dry.

It has what I would describe very spa like scent, hence the bathhouse inspired experience, and it's fairly strong. To me it smells of citrus mixed with something herbal. I don't really detect any honey. I actually really enjoy the scent, because it makes for pleasurable experience, even though I'm not too keen on scented skin care in general. But this one feels more natural in fragrance and it says there's no added artificial fragrance anyway.

It's meant for sensitive, combination, normal and dry skin. Basically, it's an exfoliating and brightening treatment that I would describe more as a toner solution instead of a mask in traditional meaning. I used it at my toner step in the evening as well as sometimes in the morning. It is recommended to be used two times a day. At first I used a whole capful, but then I realized it's a bit wasteful, so I just used half of it mixed with water in a bowl.

Performance

So far I've been using it for three weeks, which is minimal time to really grasp my thoughts on skin care product. I definitely noticed immediate brightening effect after I let it dry on the face. My whole skin looked more even toned as well as brighter in general. My sallowness around the mouth area is still here and not noticeably brighter, but that is my problem area that never really goes away. I didn't notice my freckles becoming lighter in tone, but for that I would have to use it longer. I also started to notice that my skin felt smoother after I've been using it for a while and I didn't use any other acids while using this. But it's definitely a very mild acid. I am used to some stronger BHAs by now, so the effect is minimal in my eyes. You will need to apply some sort of product after using it, because the skin feels just a bit tight, or mine definitely did. But then again, moisturizer is essential for any skin type and definitely go in with something after using this.

The concept is a bit time consuming in my mind, because I would prefer to just have it mixed in the packaging already, so I wouldn't have to deal with a bowl, water and splashing it on the face. If you like to take time for your skin care routine and really pamper yourself, you would probably like it. I didn't notice any major changes in my skin, but I appreciate it being so gentle. I think sensitive skin will benefit from it the most, just make sure to dilute it. I wouldn't apply it straight on sensitive skin. It also looks and feels luxurious, so you're buying the whole experience not just the actual product. Not to mention that the ingredients are lovely.

Blithe Tundra Chaga Pressed Serum

With the mask I also received small pot of Tundra Chaga Pressed Serum. It's an anti-polluaging serum and moisturizer hybrid

Packaging

Small version came in plastic transparent pot and in it was 10 ml of product. Full size comes in 50 ml and costs 38.25$ (Jolse).

Formula

Serum is packed with 60% tundra chaga mushroom extract which is cold processed to preserve optimal nutrients and the first ingredient on the list. Mushroom extract is combined with blend of fermented oils which are olive, argan and meadowfoam seed oil. It should minimize visible signs of aging and pollution, hydrate, nourish and soften. You can find full list of ingredients here

It doesn't contain any synthetic dyes, mineral oils, parabens, sulfates and phthalates.

It has muddy brown creamy texture, but as soon as you start to massage it into the skin it almost feels like water. Very fresh and not at all greasy or emollient, which was such a surprise since it contains so many oils, but you really don't feel it on the skin. It's very lightweight.

Scent is faint and to me a bit herbal sweet. I can't say what it actually smells of.

Performance

This should be used after toning and that is how I used it. In the morning as well as in the evening. The feel and texture that turns from cream to almost watery feel is superb. It feels nourishing on the skin, but it's not oily, sticky or heavy. It definitely is what they describe as a serum and moisturizer mixture. I find it it to be hydrating and nourishing. As far as my fine lines goes, I didn't notice any major difference, but then again, you need to use anti-aging skin care religiously for longer periods of time to see any difference. It's meant for normal, dry and sensitive skin. I definitely didn't notice any irritation, it felt gentle

I am most impressed with the texture of it. In general formulation of both of these seems really nice. No extra unneeded ingredients, just the good stuff. It felt more nourishing than just a simple moisturizer. I like that this is almost two steps in one, moisturizer and serum, so it saves me time. The effects weren't super noticeable, but it's a good product that didn't irritate and it helped my skin to look moisturizer and plump.

Both of these products feel very luxurious in terms of the scent, formula as well as just the basic ingredients list. The packaging and design is lovely, but not overly wasteful just for the sake of being luxurious. I feel like the price tag is steep, but definitely mirrors the ingredients and refined textures in them. I personally, don't have the budget to maintain that kind of skin care routine, but if you're looking for something more natural, yet luxurious feeling on the skin and you have more sensitive skin, you should take another look at Blithe.

Another post of few new bits that I received or bought. It's a mix of few staple repurchases as well as some new products that caught my eye. You'll find a short review of each.

Essence Melted Chrome Eyeshadow - 01 zinc about you

I already have 02 ironic color and I knew I'll go back for more. This time I got 01 zinc about you which is cool mauve. I already talked about how super creamy this formula feels and how amazingly pigmented it is. It goes on like butter and gives you very intense metallic sheen. 01 zinc about you contains a lot of small silver shimmers, much more than 02 ironic. These also wear lovely, but if you have oily lids, definitely use some primer underneath it. If you're looking for really pigmented metallic drugstore priced eyeshadows, these are definitely great.

I used a mix of Colourpop Yes Please peach and browns with pinks from She palette in the crease. 01 zinc about you is on the inner part of the lid.

This is a repurchase. I still have half of one, but it's so glowy and so glossy that I had to get a backup as soon as possible. It's the most reflective highlighter for fair to light skin tones ever and the formula is creamy, but turns powdery on the skin.

Colourpop Super Shock Shadow Birthday Wish

I have shade Birthday Girl, but it's discontinued. Colourpop makes a birthday shadow every year on their birthday and this year it's called Birthday Wish. I hoped it would be similar to Birthday Girl, but it's not. It's much lighter grey beige base with a lot of purple pink shimmer in it. Birthday Girl has more of a silver gold shimmer in it. I love these kind of shades as toppers on top of other shades or for that shimmer on the lid. Their formula is superb.

Colourpop Pressed Shadow Glass Bull

When it comes to Colourpop most popular shadows, Glass Bull is one of them. Everyone raves about it and how glass like it looks on the lids as well as how it reflects different shades in different color combinations. I've already tested it out and it's definitely unique. I'll have a full review on soon. But it's very creamy for pressed shadow. It has redish brown base with a blue green duochrome sheen. It's one of those tranformers that looks slightly different with different color combinations.

This is one of my favorite foundations and it's a repurchase. Tuš Drogerija often times has them 40% off and I like to stock up then. Probably one of the best coverage drugstore foundation and the shade range is also nice.

Another repurchase. It's my favorite mascara of all time. I like its silicon wand which combs through my lashes and gives them volume, definition as well as length. I never have problems with it smudging or falling down, even though it's not a waterproof formula.

Ecotools Sheer Finish Blush Brush

I've spoken many times about Ecotools brushes and how much I like their quality. I had a chance and got two more. This is a blush brush that has slightly rounded bristles. They are more sparse which makes them great for applying a sheer wash of blush. I really like it for blush, because I personally don't like pigmented blush look. Those soft sparse bristles apply blush in a very sheer way, but you can always build it up. I think this was another great investment.

Ecotools Blending & Bronzing Brush

This is also one of those stippling looking shaped brushes. The bristles are soft, but a bit more spars and rounded on the top. I've tried to bronze with this, but the bristles are too short, which makes for harsher application than I usually like with bronzer. I have tried to apply foundation with it and it works great. It blends it out well and applies it fairly sheer. I like this for quick base application more than bronzer or powdery products.

Deborah Milano Trio Contouring Palette 01

I've been on a hunt for a good contour product. It's so hard to find something drugstore priced and good in tone for light skin tones. When it comes to contour, I like something more grey based, because it creates a natural looking shadow. You can't contour with bronzer, at least with most of them you can't. This color range seemed perfect in store and I still love the colors. Highlighter is meh, very natural looking but with a pinkish sheen to it. Lighter contour shade is actually very light and grey based. I really like it, almost a bit too fair for my skin tone right now. The second darkest contour shade is already a bit too dark for me, so I usually mix them both together. The finish has a bit of natural sheen to it, but is not shiny in any way. I only hate the blend, because it can look a bit patchy. If the formula would blend better, this would be great.

e.l.f. Contour Palette

In hopes of getting a good contour shade for me, I also bought this contouring palette from e.l.f. It turns out this is more of a bronzer palette for me. Let's start with the pale yellow gold highlight shade which has tiny shimmer in it. It's nice, but nothing special. I'm used to more reflective highlighters. The brightening banana powder shade is almost a bit too dark for my pale skin tone. What I thought would be a nice pale contour shade is actually quite warm and it's a lovely light bronzer shade, but definitely no grey base in it. The darkest contour shade is already more on the grey side, but also too dark for my skin tone. Quality of powders is lovely and they blend much nicer than Deborah palette and they look more even on the skin too. I wish there was at least one pale grey based shade in it.

Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighter Powder Precious Petals

I've seen this shade being compared to Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal and apparently the quality is nice in general. Since I saw it in one of the stores, it was stuck in my mind. Truthfully, I could do without. It's a lovely golden shade with a bit of that coral undertone, but it suits me best when I have a tan. I knew it might be too dark for my skin tone. This will definitely look best on medium skin tones, but you can apply it lightly on light skin tone too. It gives lovely sheen that doesn't have any visible shimmers and almost looks a bit metallic.

Wet n Wild Coloricon Blush Rose Champagne

The shade Apri-Cot in the Middle is one of my favorites for when I want that glowy blush shade, so I wanted another shade. Rose Champagne suggested that it would be a more rosy blush, but it's in fact a proper pale yellow orange. In fact, this could easily be worn as a highlighter on medium to dark skin tones, that's how light it is. Apri-Cot in the Middle is that proper pink peach shade with gold sheen, while Rose Champagne is very light in tone and looks very orange peachy with less obvious golden sheen. It almost looks too light on my skin tone, but I have a feeling it will look just right when I get a bit paler. Formula is lovely and blends nice.

Ebelin Sharpener

Ebelin updated their sharpener packaging. The old one has transparent plastic closing which fell off all the time. New one has silicon like plastic closing and it even closes down the actual sharpening holes. It's basically heaven for carrying with or for working makeup artist. There's nothing more annoying than your sharpener spilling all over your makeup bag. It can be used for small and bigger pencils.

Look by Bipa Makeup Egg Holder

You can get these in most kitchen wear departments as egg holders. But I saw this one in pink and decided to get it. I have more than one makeup sponge and hate putting it down on regular surfaces. It feels dirty and doesn't dry out evenly on all sides. But this is great for drying your makeup sponges as well as just holding them.

This is my absolute favorite top coat and it has been for years. It gives you amazing shine and prolongs your manicure for the longest of all top coats I have tried so far. It only has one negative aspect, formula gets thicker as the time goes on and can therefore shrink your base nail polishes that you put it over.

Catrice Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer - 005 Light Natural and 020 Light Beige

These two are also repurchase. I really like this concealer formula and always have some in my stash. It's got nice coverage, but feels slightly hydrating, so it never looks too cakey or too dry on your skin. It's especially nice for drier under eye area. Catrice knows how to make some good base products and I hope these will stay for a while.

Catrice Lash Brow Mascara

I've had this transparent brow mascara already, so it's also a repurchase. It's just a basic transparent gel that you can brush your brows through. I find that it gives you descent hold, but is definitely not something that will make your brows stay that way for the whole day. It's just nice for adding texture and shaping them.

Balea Med Duschgel Mit Allantoin

This is my favorite body wash gel for winter or whenever my skin is very sensitive. It's the most gentle drugstore version I could find so far and it doesn't irritate my skin. If you have problems with very dry or itchy skin, you will like it. Scent is also very gentle.

Ebelin Nail Polish Remover

I constantly repurchase these, because the price is good and it's not too harsh on my nails. It's a nail polish remover, there's not much more I can say about it. Does the job.

Balea Erfrischendes Wash Gel

Another repurchase and my favorite face wash. It has gentle enough ingredients and neutral pH plus it's very affordable.

Balea White Chocolate Shampoo

I buy Balea shampoos for washing my makeup brushes, or any cheap shampoo really. This one is Limited Edition and very affordable. I was intrigued by the white chocolate scent. It smells a bit of white chocolate, but almost reminds me more of those white chocolate bread spreads, like their is some vanilla in it. It's a basic shampoo and I don't use it for hair, so I can't say more about it.

Balea Rasier Schaum Fruity Kiss

This is also a repurchase. I like Balea shaving gels, because they create nice foam, last fairly long and are cheap. They constantly have limited edition scents. This one should smell of red berries and grapefruit. It's a very sweet fruity scent reminiscent of Softies chewing candy.

DM Denk Mit Hygiene Spray Desinfektion

It's a spray that helps you disinfect any surfaces that may gather harmful microorganisms. I use it to clean my desk, makeup storage and such. It helps to eliminate any bacteria. It also has refreshing scent to it.

Catrice LE Malaikaraiss Cream to Powder Bronzer C01 Bronze Sugar

This was a surprising found in Austrian DM and because it was half price, I got it. I've always wanted to try out some creamy bronzer for those quick "no-makeup" makeup looks. It turns out this is really nice color for light skin tone. It has that grey undertone that makes it great for contouring. There is no orange tint to it, but it just gives you that slight color and dept to your face. Formula is harder, but blends with fingers well. It makes it difficult to apply with the brush, because you have to really get in the pot, but it looks lovely on the skin. Cream products tend to wear off quicker on my face and this one does too, but it can also look a bit patchy, which I was not a fan off. Maybe it was just my sweaty skin that was the problem.

Yves Saint Laurent Tatouage Couture Matte Stain 23

I won this product in a giveaway from Notino. It's apparently a popular formula of matte lipstick that looks more like a stain rather than a proper heavy matte liquid lip. I love their applicator, because the shape allows you to create perfect edges. It looks like a water down version, but also like a creamy type of stain. I absolutely love the look and finish of it, because it gives you even color, but looks more like a stain than a crusty heavy liquid lip. It needs a bit more time to dry down. On the lips it feels lightweight, but is by no means moisturizing, although it's also not as drying as some heavy matte liquid lipsticks usually are. I chose shade 23 because it looked most wearable. It's a nice pinky brown that will suit many skin tones, but can look more warm on cooler skin tones.

Nivea Urban Skin Detox Micellar Water*

Nive has a new micellar water in their range and it's from their Detox line. 3 in 1 formula that removes makeup effectively, gently and deeply cleanses and mattifies. It contains green tea extract and no perfumes. They say you don't need to rinse it, but I would advise otherwise. It's still a cleansing product, so remove it.

It comes in a huge plastic bottle with green Urban design. In it is 400 ml of product and it costs around 6€

It's a transparent liquid that you can use to remove makeup. I detect a very faint scent to it, but it doesn't smell like added perfume, which I like.

Unfortunately the ingredients list is less promising. Alcohol Denat is on the third place and it feels like it on the skin. I have no problems removing face makeup with it, but around the eyes, it stings and is not comfortable on my sensitive skin. Either way, I try to avoid "bad" alcohols in skin care products, especially so high on the ingredients list. I'll use this to remove the bulk of my face makeup for when I wear a lot of it, but it's definitely not sensitive skin appropriate.

It removes makeup well, but if you have waterproof products, you'll use a lot of it to remove it all. It leaves matte finish on the skin, but as I said before, I advise washing it off anyway.

I'll stick to my Bioderma Sensibio H20.

I already have a review of those two products. I got them from Jolse for reviewing purposes and I didn't know the brand before. Formulas of both products as well as the feel on the skin surprised me. It's very sophisticated in formula, but also gentle and perfect for sensitive skin. Water Pack works like a brightening and exfoliating toner and pressed serum is like moisturizer and serum in one.

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Sensitive Prebiotic Moisturizer*

La Roche-Posay is a french brand and an expert on sensitive skin. I already had some of their products and liked most of them. When it comes to sensitive skin, I definitely recommend you checking them out. This is a moisturizer without any added fragrances and alcohol. It contains glycerin for moisture, ceramides for strengthening skin's barrier, vitamin B3 for soothing and thermal La Roche-Posay water for calming irritation. In the ingredients list I also found niacinamide which is great for brightening. I've been testing some other skin care product, but now I'll get on to testing this one. So far, I love the fact that it smells of nothing, feels lightweight and is not greasy.

Deborah Milano Extra Cover 2 in 1 Foundation And Concealer 03*

I got this in the mail and I was so excited for what seemed to be high coverage foundation. Unfortunately, I got way too dark shade for my skin tone - 03. I am always the palest in most drugstore foundations, so this is not wearable on me. I did wore it a few times, but mixed with Revlon Colorstay foundation. I also swatched the shades in the drugstore. 0 is supposedly the lightest shade, but is in fact not. 01 is lighter than 0 which is super weird. I think 01 would suit my skin tone the best. There is also 02 and 04. There isn't many variety in skin tones between these 5 shades. The shade range could be much wider.

It comes in matte glass bottle with giant sponge applicator. In it is 30 ml of product and it costs around 15€.

It's a thicker formula, but has that nice silicon spread to it. Coverage is what I would call medium, because it doesn't cover red patches or pimples. It dries into a semi matte finish pretty quick. It doesn't sit in pores, which is lovely, but you can definitely see it on the skin. The finish is not the most natural looking, but then again you wouldn't expect that from foundation and concealer in one anyway. I was surprised at how well this wore. It didn't get oily too quickly and it seemed to lasted well on my skin. No weird patchiness or looking too cakey. Obviously, I was mixing it with one of my favorite foundations, so keep that in mind.

To me it seems like it has some added perfume, more powdery.

From what I could test it, I think I would really like this foundation. But again, I can't say for sure, because of the shade. But it seems to give nice coverage and doesn't look too obvious, which is all I ask from foundation. Plus it controls sebum fairly well.

Skull Mask Makeup

It's Halloween weekend here in Slovenia and I decided to try to make one more Halloween look. Skull is a classic and the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Halloween. I didn't wanted to do a classic skull makeup, so I did partial skull makeup in a way that it looks like I'm wearing skull mask. I tried to shade it to make it look more mask like. It's really simple and you don't need much to make it work, you can just use your regular makeup products.

I started my makeup by applying a bit of foundation on the outer edges of my face. I drew the outline of my skull mask with white pencil to make it easy to correct. Then I mixed white foundation with regular foundation and colored the mask out. Later I also went over with a white face paint to make it even paler. I drew out eye holes with black pencil.

I colored the holes with black eyeshadow, but left the center of the lid out as well as around the lower lash line. There I applied purple matte shade and took shimmery blue to outline my eyes. I then applied shimmery duo chrome green blue shade for that extra fun. It just mashed all together and the base colors gave it more dimension. I also took purple eye pencil and put in the lower water line. On the upper water line I applied black pencil. I also outlined eye holes with liquid black eyeliner. Unfortunately, mine was waterproof and started cracking as it dried down, so don't make my mistake. Use one that doesn't crack.

I also applied some random false eyelashes. Then I took some rhinestones and started gluing them on the edges of my eye holes and in the inner corner for highlight. I applied purple, green and white rhinestones to match that dimensional eyeshadow look.

On my nose I did the exact same thing as on my eyes. I also used black eyeshadow and black eyeliner and drew on some of the teeth.

Around the mask I used medium brown and medium taupe shade to add shading. I also applied black eyeshadow closest to the edge to make it appear more like a mask.

My wig collection is very poor and old so I made do with what I had. I used long black wig for this look, because it seemed more appropriate than my warm hair color. I also took some pink rose, cut it and glued it on my face. Yes, it's a skull, but I like to make it look pretty and slightly more feminine.

Here is a photo of all the other Halloween makeup looks that I've created previously. Some animals as well as some other skulls. If you click on the title, you'll see a tutorial of how I did it.

October 2018 Favorites

I didn't wear much makeup in October, so I don't have a lot of favorites. Most of the new products I've just started using at the end of the month, but already love them. Some are just standard fall products that I always go back to in this time of year.

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Sensitive Prebiotic Moisturizer

This is one of those products that I've just started using a week ago. La Roche-Posay is one of those brands that I love, because I have sensitive skin. It's a moisturizer without any fragrance and alcohol. Ingredients in it will help to sooth and strengthen your skin's barrier. It's a fool proof product, if you want something that will sooth, prevent irritation and feel moisturizing without looking greasy. I've had some moisturizers before from La Roche-Posay and I liked them all. This one actually has no no scent to it, which I love.

I've spoken many times about this foundation and featured it among one of my all time favorite foundations. It's lightweight in texture and on the skin, has satin matte finish and medium coverage. The shade is a bit too dark for my winter complexion and it could be more yellow for me personally, but I can make it work. It's just a fool proof foundation for a quick makeup, plus it's also very affordable.

Another one of my favorites, this time in concealer category. It's also another affordable drugstore find. This has a slightly thicker consistency, medium coverage and a matte finish. The color is pretty neutral toned and coverage is great for under the eyes. It also lasts pretty well.

Colourpop Pressed Shadow Glass Bull

This is one of the Colourpop bestsellers. It's very creamy for a powder shadow and the color is unique, sort of redish brown base with a blue green duochrome sheen. It has small shimmer in it which makes it look almost glossy or glass like. It's best applied with just a finger and looks slightly different on top of different colored bases. I've been putting it on top of many different color combinations and I love how it plays up any boring look. It was definitely worth the purchase.

My lips are back at their Sahara dessert state and I am trying not to further damage them by avoiding drying lip products. This is one of the most comfortable lip gloss formulas for dry lips. It's thicker, sticks well to the lips and stays there. It almost coats your lips and soothes in a way plus makes them look extra juicy. It's a bronzy color with multi colored shimmer in it that I've been applying over a bit of colored base for comfort's sake mostly. But the shade looks so nice on top of any other colored lipstick.

Afrodita Body Milk Nourish - Gold Therapy

I've had this in my drawer for a while and I've finally started using it, in fact I'm finishing it already. I like these Spa body milks from Afrodita, although I wouldn't say they are actually milk consistency. They are very thick and once you're at the end, it's very difficult to get out every last drop of the product. The pump just doesn't work anymore. It's thick on the skin as well and hard to massage into the skin, but I love heavier nourishing shiny layer that it leaves on the skin. It also has what I would describe oriental vanilla scent to it.

Avon Life Colour by Kenzo Takada Eau de Parfum

This is the second collaboration between Avon and famous designer Kenzo Takada. If their first fragrance Avon Life was sophisticated mix of fresh floral and musk base, then this is a more playful sweeter fruitier version. I would describe it as fruity floral. Some fruits give it a bit of acidity and sweetness, while florals provide that sophisticated note to the fragrance based on a stronger white suede. I actually think it's a bit similar to Life, just less powdery and not as floral. I've liked it from the first sniff, even though I usually prefer stronger sweeter scents in this time of year. For me it's definitely more of a spring summer fragrance. It's sophisticated and grown up in a more lightweight way.

This is probably my all time favorite fall nail polish shade. I call it apricot jam, because it reminds me of that. It's a muddy almost that pumpkin orange brown that just screams fall to me. I've said it before, but Gel Shine formula is my favorite from Avon, because it's slightly thicker and well pigmented. Whenever I wear this shade, I get compliments, because it's so unique. I wore it matte this month.

Kiko Matte Effect Top Coat

That being said, most of my manicures this month have actually been matte and I used this matte top coat over them. Usually, I apply shiny top coat for a prolonged wear and then go over that one with a matte top coat to make it matte. I love wider rounded brush which makes it very quick and easy to apply. Matte nails are so pretty and I especially like them for the fall season.

Fall Orange Nail Art (Collaboration with Katja Nail2express)

I finally got back to doing more nail designs. Part of the reason is also me going to nail courses, because it's another field that I want to better myself in. Today's nail art is in collaboration with Katja who writes Nail2express blog. Her blog is all about nails - nail art, nail polish reviews and some really useful nail tips. Definitely check it out, she will help you find inspiration for your next manicure. I personally admire her stamping nail designs, I've tried this once and gave up on it. It's harder than it seems.

We've decided to collaborate on a specific nail polish color - fall orange. I had particular shade in mind right away, which is my absolute favorite fall nail polish shade, so I decided to challenge my drawing skills yet again and created fall inspired design.

I started by applying my favorite muddy orange nail polish on two nails and on the other three I used pale grey. I wanted orange to stand out, but didn't want it to be all about it. Then I used black and white acrylic paint - just your ordinary crafts paint. I tried to create what I thought would be plaid design. Plaid shirts are one of my favorite clothing for fall time. It was the first time that I drew with acrylic paint on myself, so it was a bit messy. Not to mention it was even harder to replicate that design with my non-dominant hand, but I'm like that, always have to match both hands.

On the middle finger I decided to draw fox. Fox is one of the animals that has the best colored fur in my opinion, but then again, I am biased, since I love copper hair. I used the same orange shade as the base on the other two and acrylic white as well as black to draw in some details. Not much of a tutorial here, I was winging it.

On the rest of grey based nails I drew fall leaves.  For that I used acrylic paint again, just because it was easier to manipulate. Nail polish dries too quick and can get thicker looking. I only have basic blue, yellow and red acrylic paints, but I mix it to create desired colors.

Manicure was finished by cleaning up the skin around my nails and applying a fast drying shiny top coat. Unfortunately, I smudged a bit of my plaid design on one of the nails. I realized I had to apply top coat thicker and make sure for the brush not to touch the design or I'll smudge it. I was also in a rush, so drying your acrylic nail design before going over it with a top coat is advised.

Products used:
Avon Gel Shine Nail Enamel - Marmalady (orange)
Avon Gel Shine Nail Enamel - Head In Clouds (pale grey)
Acrylic Paints - white, black, blue, yellow, red
Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat

If you can see what I was trying to draw, then I did my job well. Obviously, there's always room for improvement, but that's the beauty in everything. I'm sure you're wondering what fall orange shade Katja used, so check out her manicure. I think this kind of shade is so unique for fall, but is probably not as popular. Let me know, if you like these kind of orange nail polish shades for fall.

My Favorite - Blushes

When it comes to blushes I prefer something more on the  warmer peach or brown side. That doesn't mean I don't wear pink blushes, I just don't wear them as often as all those peachy ones. In general I’m a warm toned lover, so I also like warmer pinks and those that have a muddy or mauve base to it. To me blush gives a bit of color to the face, but I never want it to be the center of my makeup look, so I prefer something that looks slightly sheerer. I have a good collection of blushes, but I decided to feature only those that I would really miss in my collection, if I would for some reason loose it.

This was one of the biggest surprises among my blush purchases.  I was very skeptical about the brand quality, but H&M proved me wrong. In fact, this is now one of my favorite blush formula as well as color selection. It’s slightly wet formula, which means it applies like a dream and blends lovely. I find them to be very long lasting on my skin. It’s slightly sheerer formula that can be build up. Finish is luminous with colorful base and slight added shimmer which just gives you the slightest healthy looking sheen. I find slightly luminous blushes look better than straight up matte colors, because they look more natural. Apricot is probably the lightest shade of blush in my collection. It’s a pinky peach shade that will suit fair and light skin tones. Sheen is more on the golden side.

Brown Sugar is the first shade that I bought in this formula and probably one of my favorites. It’s basically brown with peach tone to it. The sheen on this one is cooler silver. This is one of those blushes that will go with pretty much every makeup. I love it for those days when I don’t want to look like I wear blush, because it’s just a warmer and more luminous version of a bronzer. I think it will look best on light skin tones.

This is slightly drier formula than that from H&M. It also has that lovely sheen on the skin and the pigmentation is again slightly sheerer, but quicker to build up than H&M. It blends on the skin lovely, but is not as long lasting as some others.  Santa Rose is light muddy peach shade. It’s darker than H&M Apricot and more orange as well as muddier looking. It has silver sheen to it. This is again suitable for fair to light skin tones.

If you’d ask me what’s my favorite blush out of all, I’d have hard time picking, but would probably say Luminoso. It’s partially sentimental attachment, because it’s also one of the oldest blushes in my collection. It has baked formula which lasts ages and looks like you haven’t used any of it. Because it’s baked, it’s a dry formula, but still gives off a lot of color payoff. You can build it up really quickly to look both sheer and more golden or strong peachy orange colored. Luminoso is the most popular shade by Milani and I can see why. It’s orange peachy shade with gold shimmer in it which gives it lovely golden glow. This one is the darkest out of all those peach tones that I’m mentioning today and will be suitable for light as well as medium skins.

Rosy Brown is pinky brown shade with cool pink sheen. It actually leans much warmer on my warm skin tone and almost looks like it has a bit of peach in it too. It’s darker than the other two shades and therefore looks stronger on me. I would say this is for light and medium skin tones.

MAC sheertone formula is slightly sheer, which means you can build it up slowly, but the pigmentation is still great. Formula is a mix of dry and wet, but not as wet as H&M blushes. It applies great and blends nice as well. Finish has just a hint of sheen to it, but the least out of all previously mentioned blushes. In fact, it’s so subtle that you almost don’t notice it. Pinch Me is a mix of warm pink and brown. Again, as with Rosy Brown, it looks even warmer on my warm skin tone, so more like a peachy pink brown. It looks the most red toned out of all these shades and is also darker than most, which means it's for light as well as medium skin tones.

This is another wetter formula that has good pigmentation, but goes on sheerer in the beginning and blends lovely. 050 is muddy mauve shade that has a very luminous silver sheen to it. It’s as glowy as Luminoso. Plus it’s also the most pink toned choice out of all I’ve mentioned today. On me it’s again more warm toned than it looks in the pan. It will look great on fair as well as light skin tones and might work on medium skin too.

My wishlist is forever growing, but I don't really have all that much blushes on it. It's one of those areas that I'm quite satisfied with what I currently have and I use it up so slowly that I almost don't buy any new ones anymore. But there are a few that I would consider for in the future.

One is Milani Rose Blush Trio Palette in 02 Floral Fantasy. Milani rose blushes are very popular and in this palette you get three peach toned shades that I know I would get use out of, plus the design is just so cute. I've also been trying to find good affordable blush palette and everyone seems to recommend BH Cosmetics 10 Color Nude Blush Palette. This is probably the one that I would buy first, because it just seems so versatile. I've also had my eye on Jouer Blush Bouquet Dual Blush Palette in Adore which is again one of those peachy brownish duos. I love the packaging and have seen others loving the formula as well.

Review: Colourpop Pressed Powder Shadow Glass Bull and Super Shock Shadow Birthday Wish

$

I like all the products that I have tried so far from Colourpop. It's definitely one of my top makeup brands that I wish was available within the EU, because it's a hassle getting your package to your country and dealing with customs. Whenever they have good deals, I order some products that are on my wishlist. This time I bough their Super Shock Shadow in Birthday Wish, Pressed Powder Shadow in Glass Bull and Super Shock Cheek in Flexitarian.

Colourpop Super Shock Shadow - Birthday Wish

Colourpop makes a birthday inspired super shock shadow each year and this year it's called Birthday Wish. I believe these shadows are not in their regular range, so if you want it, get it while you can.

Packaging

Usually these shadows have white plastic packaging, but this year's birthday edition is violet colored. It has same transparent top that you can see your shadow through. There's also four candles on the top to represent their fourth birthday.

In it is 2.1 grams of product and it costs 5$.

Formula

It has that super shock shadow formula which means it feels almost like mousse and smooths on the lid as cream. It sets into a powder finish and doesn't move. This one is sheerer in the base and it has ultra-glitter finish which means it looks quite glittery on the lids, but it's still very tasteful.

Colors

Colourpop says that this is warm champagne with pink duochrome flip and violet and blue glitters. It looks like a very transparent warm champagne base and on the top is mostly a very prominent pink sheen. Some glitters in it are definitely blue as well as purple, but the sheen is strong pink. It looks interesting on the eyes, although I expected something more similar to Birthday Girl. But Birthday Girl has strong brown base and warmer golden silver glitters on top. Keep in mind it looks much more boring on photos, because the camera just can't show how pretty this looks in person.

Eyeshadows: Colourpop Issues, Colourpop Note to Self (Yes, Please! palette), Colourpop French Kiss (Yes, Please! palette), Colourpop Birthday Wish
Clio Kill Black Brush Liner, L'Oreal Paradise Extatic Mascara

Lips: Catrice Lip Foundation Pencil 030 Addicted to Cafe Au Lait, Bourjous Rouge Velvet The Lipstick 02 Flaming'rose

Performance

All of super shock shadows that I own are very long lasting on me and this one is no exception. They set quickly and don't move the whole day. Intensity is still there at the end of the day.

Colourpop Pressed Powder Shadow - Glass Bull

Packaging

I usually buy these in pans only, although you can get them in a compact as well. I have their large empty magnetic palette and store them in that.

In it is 1.5 grams and it costs 4€ (pan), 5€ for compact.

Formula

It has very creamy formula and seems more like a cream than a powder product. If you have very oily lids, definitely use eye primer with this one. It has that chunky glittery look in the pan, but on the skin shimmer is small and just gives it that interesting duochrome look. It's slightly sheerer with one swipe, but depending on how thick you apply it, you can get it really opaque, although it will always look very sheeny and almost glossy like. That's part of the reason why everyone loves this eyeshadow so much.

Colors

Colourpop describes Glass Bull as duochrome lavender icy-blue. I would say that this has redish brown base and duochrome green blue sheen. Sometimes it can look more lavender, but I definitely see more green and blue in it. It's a true transformer shade and it looks different on top of different colored eyeshadows. I did some examples with basic brown, red and purple as a base.

Eyeshadows: Colourpop Issues, Colourpop Note to Self (Yes, Please! palette), Glass Bull
Clio Kill Black Brush Liner, L'Oreal Paradise Extatic

Lips: Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip - Aquarius

Eyeshadows: Nabla Caramel, Colourpop GNO (Yes, Please! palette), Glass Bull
Avon The Big Intense Kohl Intense Brown, Maybelline Lash Sensational, L'Oreal Paradise Extatic

Lips: Colourpop Ultra Glossy Lip Weho + On Board

Eyeshadows: Colourpop Issues, Colourpop I Owe You, Colourpop 143, Colourpop Glass Bull
Clio Kill Black Brush Liner, L'Oreal Paradise Extatuc, Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

Avon True Supreme Nourishing Lipstick -Nurturing Nude

Eyeshadows: Colourpop Champs (Yes, Please!), Colourpop GNO (Yes, Please!), Colourpop Spoiled (Yes, Please!), Colourpop Glass Bull
Clio Kill Brown Brush Liner, L'Oreal Paradise Extatic, Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

Performance

As I've mentioned before, this is very creamy. None of my other pressed shadows from them feel as creamy as this one. Keep that in mind, because it might move on the lid, if you don't prime it well. I don't have problems with it creasing. It lasts well on the lids through the day.

I repurchased this one, because I've hit pan on one of these and it's one of my favorite highlighters, especially for winter. This is the most reflective highlighter in my collection. It has warm champagne base, but cool silver sheen. It almost looks like glass on the skin and reflects light so beautifully. It goes on like a cream and can be applied over liquids and powders. It's another best seller from Colourpop and for a good reason.

You can buy Colourpop products on their online store.

I was expecting a bit of a different look with Birthday Wish. Basically, I wanted it to be more neutral, but the pink sheen is quite intense. I still love the shadow and formula, I just expected something different. Glass Bull is very unique shade in my collection and I love how versatile it is. It can looks so different on top of different base colors. It's very creamy, so I don't even consider it as a regular powder shadow. It's a must, if you want something different in your collection. I apply it over any basic boring matte shadow to give it some depth and life. Colourpop eyeshadows are great quality and I can't recommend them enough. They have huge selection, great formula that lasts and in general affordable prices.

Review: Avon Life Colour by Kenzo Takada Eau de Parfum and Body Lotion

Avon is currently dominating my fragrance collection and there are a lot of their fragrances that are my all time favorites. A lot of their fragrances are made in collaboration with famous designers or celebrities. They already collaborated with Kenzo Takada once on their Life fragrance, so this is the second installment. This time they named the fragrance Life Colour by Kenzo Takada.

Packaging

Avon Life Colour by Kenzo Takada Eau de Parfum

I don't know inspiration behind the design, but it's eye catching. It's sort of a pyramid design and from the bird's perspective it's triangular. Glass bottle has ombre  from red to pink to transparent design. Cap is transparent paired with gold details. It's definitely worth displaying on a shelf.

In it is 50 ml of eau de parfum and the regular price is 37€. You'll almost always get it cheaper.

Avon Life Colour by Kenzo Takada Body Lotion

It's a plastic tube with yellow and red ombre design. Just a regular hole opening tube of body lotion in a standard size.

In it you get 150 ml of product and the regular price is 6.50€.

Formula

Notes: magnolia, pear, raspberry, rice basmati and white suede.

The first burst of this fragrance is very floral on me and then a bit of acidity and sweetness from fruity notes kicks in. It goes from floral to slightly acidic to sweet. I assume rice basmati is the next component that gives a bit of that cozy feel to this fragrance. White suede is the last one to come through and it gives it that edge and power. I love my base notes and as with any other fragrance, I also prefer this one once the initial floral fruity notes calm down and the strong base overtakes it.

In general I would describe it as sweet fruity floral fragrance. It's quite sweet, but the base notes combined with florals give it sense of sophistication. I'd say it's a more youthful and less powdery spin on Life fragrance. For my personal taste this is perfect for spring season, not so much fall.

Body lotion has firm white creamy texture that is smooth and glides on the skin lovely, which might be due to dimethicone - a silicon. On top of the ingredients list are some nice humectants and emollients. In general I find the formula good for body lotion, it's not just alcohol and perfume. It leaves slight sheen on the skin at first, but then it soaks in completely

Performance

I don't usually have problems with longevity of fragrances, so this one stays on my skin just fine. It lasts almost the whole day, obviously getting less intense as the day goes on. I do notice that Life fragrance lasts better on my skin than this one.

Body lotiondoesn't have as strong of a scent as I would expect. It's mild and more of an addition to the parfum, but it feels moisturizing and almost a bit nourishing on the skin which is lovely.

I like this fragrance, Avon did it again. It's sweet, which I love, more in a fresh fruity way and combined with florals and suede it gives it sophisticated feel. It's not your typical teenage sweet fragrance, rather a more grown up version, but still playful enough. I'd say that this is younger sister to Life or even its daughter. Design is gorgeous as it would be expected from a fashion designer and the price is definitely affordable. If you ever had Avon fragrance, you know, they're well worth it, it's just the matter of picking right scent that suits your style and taste.

Makeup Wishlist Tag

I was tagged by Sandra from Keep Calm And Wear Lipstick blog to do this Makeup Wishlist Tag.  Thank you Sandra for tagging me. I've actually seen this tag going around and like it. It's one of those that I was actually excited to write. I'm planing on doing a full post of my current wishlist as well.

1. What is the very next makeup item you're planning on buying?

I'm planning on buying Nabla Radikal eyeshadow and maybe also their Circle eyeshadow. For some reason I really want matte olive eyeshadow and Radikal is the one that looks most like what I want. Plus I also want to add some matte mauve eyeshadow to my collection and Circle looks like a good one. Not too cool and still vibrant enough.

2. If you could walk into Sephora today and buy any one item (regardless of the budget), what would it be?

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 4 palette. Hourglass is one of those brands that I wish I had the budget for. Everything looks very chic and I hear the formulas are worth it. This palette has a bit of everything - powder, bronzer, highlighter and blush.

3. What is the oldest item on your Sephora Loves List?

I don't have that list, but I can tell you which product that is available in Sephora has been the first one added to my Pinterest wishlist. That is Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronzer And Glow palette. I was drawn to all that Charlotte Tilbury hype, when it came out and I'm sure her products are great since she is one of the most popular makeup artist and knows her formulas. The range is just too expensive for my current budget.

4. What is the newest item on your Sephora Loves List?

As I've mentioned before, I don't have that list. But I'm going based on my wishlist and the newest item on it, that is also available in Sephora, is Jouer Cosmetics Blush Bouquet Dual Blush Palette in color Adore. It's one of those peachy muddy neutral duos that I always go for. Jouer is just one of those unexplored brands to me that I want to try out.

5. What perfume is on the top of your wishlist?

Currently, it has to be Bath & Body Works Twilight Woods. Well it's a mist, not an actual perfume. I've just tried the sample again recently and I love it. It's so appropriate for this time of year. Sultry, oriental, sweet and so cozy. I really want to get it, but can't justify buying, because I have so many fragrances already.

6. What is the new release you're looking most forward to?

I can't point anything out, because there is so much releases these days. It's a bit overwhelming sometimes. Let's just say I'm always looking forward to seeing what Colourpop is going to release next.

7. Are there any drugstore products you want but haven't yet pulled the trigger on?

There is a lot of drugstore products that I kind of want, but haven't bought yet. One of those is also Milani Conceal + Perfect Foundation in 00A Porcelain. I've got a tester of it and liked the fact that it was so light in shade. Coverage is also really nice.

8. The eyeshadow palette you're lusting over the most.

For some reason that is Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam palette. I don't even know why, mostly just because I wonder, if the formula is really as good as everyone raves about. And because I love neutral eyeshadow palettes in general and I know I would get a good use out of it.

9. Product you're waiting for your next birthday/Christmas to ask for.

I don't ask anyone for makeup products, neither skin care. I buy my own products. But I do have a wishlist that my friends can look at, if they want to see what I'm wishing for and maybe get some inspiration. Buying a gift for others can be stressful sometimes and I personally love when my friends have wihlists, because it means I'll get them something they really want.

10. What is the item that you're dying to have that is not available in your country/area?

I only found two products that are on my wishlist and I can't get them on any online stores that I know of or in physical stores. That is The Library of Fragrance Spray in Baby Powder scent (oh my God! I love that scent so much!) and Burt's Bees Natural Blush in Toasted Cinnamon (I don't even know, if it would suit me, but for some reason I have it on my wishlist).

11. What is the thing that you really want, but you'll never buy because it's "too expensive"?

Natasha Denona eyeshadow palette. There is no way I'm ever spending over 100€ on one eyeshadow palette. I don't care what anyone says, but that is extremely overpriced. There can't be any such revolutionary ingredients in it that would justify that price tag. You're paying for the brand.

12. If there was a beauty product Genie who could grant you one wish, what would you wish for?

Wow, this is a very difficult thing to answer, because there are so many things that I would want to wish for. I'm going to try to sell you this as one answer. How about that there would be whole range of brands and their products available in every country, every physical shop and every online shop. That would mean that our brand importers would actually have to carry very light as well as very dark foundations and that most of us wouldn't be lusting over that product by that brand that is available only on US market, but not in our store. It would also mean that all of us would get the chance to buy products from every brand, even those that are currently not available in our country. I think that would level the ground, but will probably never happen, unless there is such thing as a beauty product Genie.

I'm tagging Lana from Lana Talks blog as well as Nadja from Memento Mori blog to do this tag. Hopefully, you have time to do it, because I'd love to read what products you're wishing for.

My Favorite - Eyeshadow Palettes

Along with highlighter, eyeshadow palettes are my second favorite things to buy. I also don't do it often, because they are usually quite expensive and I'm trying to buy those that add another dimension to my collection, not just repeat a lot of neutrals. I have four that I consider my favorite based on how often I use them.

I could create my perfect basic palette by just picking different shades from all of these four eyeshadow palettes and combining them in one.

This was one of the first sort of bigger eyeshadow palettes that I bought. I wanted something basic and in those warm tones that I love so much. This has a nice mix of mattes and shimmers. I actually use only warm shades from this palette. I picked a few of my favorite shades from each palette and swatched them down below. From Cocoa Blend I love Subtle Blend which is that basic warm bronze brown shade and Pure Ganache which is perfect warm coppery gold. These two create the best summer bronzy look.

I love formula of Zoeva eyeshadow palettes. Shimmery shades have insane pigmentation and are very buttery. Matte shades are drier, but also really pigmeted. They blend like a dream, sometimes you just need to build up matte shades slower than you might do with some other eyeshadow palettes. But that's not a problem in my mind. They are also fairly affordable, although Zoeva had much more affordable prices in the beginning, before they became very popular.

Cocoa Blend was my first choice, before I got Caramel Melange. This one is even warmer in tone. I love almost all the shade in this palette and some are heavily used.

Universal Delight is one of my all time favorite matte transition shades and the proof is in the pan - almost used up. I love it because it's very pale and warm toned brown. If you know a good dupe of this shade, I'd love to hear about it. Finish Sensual is another one of my favorite matte browns. This one is more chocolate toned, although it still has warm undertone. Liquid Center is the most pigmented eyeshadow out of all the Zoeva eyeshadows that I own and it's again one of my all time favorite. This is a true warm copper that almost looks metallic.

This one is my most expensive eyeshadow palette in my collection and for that reason alone, I try to use it more, because otherwise, I've wasted my money. That being said, it also has some of the basic shades that I always go back too, although this one has the most shades that I actually don't use in it too.

I don't like shimmery shades in it, because they just don't pop as much as with Zoeva or Colourpop. They feel a lot drier. Mattes however, are amazing. They are very pigmented and blend with no problem. It's a fairly neutral color story with some pops of color, so a great all-rounder, if you don't want just warm tones. I also adore that it's vanilla scent.

Truffled is my most used shade in this palette and I wish I had something similar in other palettes. It's a matte chocolate brown, but I love it because it's actually darker than most other browns. This is perfect for deepening the crease or that outer v. Mousse is another favorite, because it's matte muddy brown. This one actually feels more neutral in tone and I find it quite unique. It works on warm as well as cool skin tones and it's great for the crease.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but this palette might be even a bit too bright for my daily use. It's great for warm toned lovers, but it's also quite bright. I would use it more in the summer. Some shades in it are my staple no matter the season.

Formula in Colourpop eyeshadow palettes is always superb. Pigmentation is just amazing on both matte and shimmery shades. Dark mattes can looks a bit uneven, but it's all in how you apply it.

Butter Cake is a shimmery star in this palette. It's that yellow gold that will pop any makeup look by just applying this on the center. I also like that I can sheer it out for that halo effect and it doesn't look too stark. My absolute favorite shade in this palette is Note to Self, which is again one of those mattes that I wish I had bigger pan of. This is matte orange toned brown that I love in the crease or just all over the lid for that basic matte eye look. Part of the reason why I like it so much, it's also because it's so pigmented and I don't need to build it up at all.

If there's one thing you got from this, it has to be that I love my matte browns. It's true, almost all of my makeup looks include some sort of matte brown in the crease. As much as I love creating with colorful eyeshadows, I prefer more neutrals on daily basis. My comfort zone are browns, golds and coppers. I also prepared some of my favorite individual eyeshadows and in that post I'll have a few more colorful choices.

These days it's kind of hard to find a palette that would just look different. Problem with palettes is also that you almost never use all the shades in it, at least I don't. So I tend to overthink it before buying a new one.

On my wishlist are still some staple neutrals that I feel like I need. Colourpop Double Entendre is another one of those nude palettes that I considered getting. Mostly because it has a lot of matte browns that I'm using up so well in all of these palettes that I own. Another neutral that I would love to try is Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam palette. It's up there in price, but I'm kind of curious what all the fuss is about and if it's really such a good formula.

When it comes to more colorful choices, Colourpop Good Sport calls my name. I just love those colors - golds, purples and greens. I would love to try some eyeshadow palette from Juvia's Place, but I have hard time deciding which one has the most of my shades in a palette. The Nubian is great basic and The Masquerade would be lovely colorful option with blues and greens. I hear their quality is amazing. Nabla also came out with their newest launch called Poison Garden and I love the shade selection. I really like all the mattes in this palette and they have some great pops of color like that electric blue and berry pink.

Review: Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighting Powder Precious Petals and Coloricon Blush Rose Champagne

Wet n Wild is one of those popular drugstore brands that offers good products at affordable prices. I actually picked these up on Click2Chic, because the Coloricon Blush in Rose Champagne was at a half price. I also picked up Megaglo Highlighting Powder in Precious Petals, because I've heard it's a dupe for Becca Opal and I didn't wanted to invest in that one without knowing, if it's going to be too dark for me.

Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighting Powder - Precious Petals

Packaging

It comes in a basic plastic packaging with transparent lid. Packaging looks a bit flimsy. In it is 5.4 grams of product and it costs around 6€.

Formula

It's a wetter formula that blends lovely. Shimmer in it is fine and gives off quite a metallic sheen. Pigmentation is amazing. You really don't need much to make it glow. If you apply it lightly you get more of that golden sheen and the more you build it up, the darker and more apricot based it looks.

Colors

I actually don't have anything that looks like Precious Petals in my collection. I'd say that this is warm apricot based highlighterwith light champagne gold sheen. The base is a mix of pink and peach and the glow on top is not true gold, but also not proper champagne. It will suit medium skin tones best, but you can make it work on light skin tone too by applying it lightly, so you mostly just pick up that sheen and not colored base.

Comparison

I only compared it to theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer, because I have nothing similar to it. Mary-Lou has that same champagne gold sheen, but the base is much lighter.

Applied lightly
Performance

This stays on the skin well and it's still there at the end of the day. Intensity also stays almost the same.

Wet n Wild Coloricon Blush - Rose Champagne

Packaging

It's the same flimsy plastic packaging with transparent lid. In it you get 5.85 grams of product and the regular price is around 4€, but I got it for 2€ (here).

Formula

Blush also has wetter formula and it blends nicely. Pigmentation is good, but the shade is light, so you have to build it up, if you want a more intense color payoff. It has a bit of tiny shimmer in it which gives off lovely subtle golden sheen. The sheen is actually a more neutral gold than that one in Apri-Cot in the Middle which is much more yellow toned.

Colors

For some reason I expected something more rosy, as the name Rose Champagne would suggest. It's actually warm yellow toned orange with gold sheen. This is the most orange blush I have in my collection. Others look much more pink compared to this one. But when I apply it with a fluffy brush, I mostly just get the golden sheen. Orange base is sheer looking on the skin. It's actually quite light in color, even on my light skin tone. This would almost pass as a highlighter for medium to dark skin tones. Keep in mind it's very warm, so it would look weird on cool skin tones.

Comparison

Milani Baked Powder Blush in Luminoso is more peachy with that slight pink tone to it and it has cooler sheen. Wet n Wild Coloricon Blush in Apri-Cot in the Middle is also more peachy with pinkish tint to it and it has strong golden sheen to it. H&M Pure Radiance Powder Blusher in Apricot is a lighter apricot peachy shade and it's the lightest in the bunch.

Performance

This one is so light and actually sheer on the skin that it fades quicker than most blushes. It's actually very sheeny and less colored. But it blends out nice and doesn't wear off patchy

L to R: Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer, Bronzer + Precious Petals, Bronzer + Precious Petals + Rose Champagne

Buying makeup online means you can only predict the shade so much. I actually thought both of these would look different than they do. Precious Petals is definitely darker than I expected and it looks best on me when I have a bit of tan. I'm sure I won't be getting Becca Opal now. The formula though is amazing, really pigmented, wears lovely and has fine shimmer. If we had more color options, I would probably get some more.

Rose Champagne is not what I expected, but a lovely unique addition to my collection. It's the most orange blush in my collection, though it looks more glowy than orange on the skin. It needs building up, which I don't mind, but it's not the most long lasting blush.
