Review: Makeup Revolution Soph X Eyeshadow Palette

Makeup Revolution decided to do collaboration with Youtuber sophdoesnails. I had some time to test out eyeshadow palette, which has some gorgeous warm colors in it. In this collaboration is also highlighter palette which is just as gorgeous and seems very pigmented, I know, because I have swatched it in the store already.

Packaging

I have to say the design is right up my alley, dare I say something that I would do, if I ever had a chance to collaborate with a makeup company. Paper box has peach and gold design as well as the actual plastic packaging. I adore both of these shades as you might have already noticed by my blog design. It's well made and seems sturdy. Inside is also a huge mirror which is very useful and great to travel with.

In it is 24 x 1.1 grams of product, so 26.4 grams of product in total and the price is 14.99€. You can get it on Ličila.si, in DM or Tuš Drogerija. You can also get it from Revolution Beauty for 11.99€.

Colors

The palette also has variety of colors that I would probably choose for myself. There is mix of 24 mattes and shimmers, some nudes, mostly warm toned and some pops of color like purple, green and blue. This palette has everything that I would want in one palette, even a matte black. If you're a warm toned lover, you would love it. You can create everything from very nude and natural looks to something more colorful and bold

Swatches

Penguin - matte white (good pigmentation, wetter)
Pancakes - fair warm brown beige (good pigmentation, wet)
Fairy Lights - light shimmery warm beige (good pigmentation, wetter)
Pink Champagne - light shimmery cool pink  with white shimmery chunks (good pigmentation, wetter)
Iced Coffee - light matte neutral beige (good pigmentation, wetter)
Cuppa Tea - light matte yellow toned mustard beige (great pigmentation, wetter)
Grow Old - light shimmery peachy copper - shimmer chunks (great pigmentation, creamy)
Sparks Fly - light shimmery brown gold - shimmer chunks (amazing pigmentation, creamy)
Smokey Bronze - medium shimmery gold bronze (great pigmentation, creamy)
Mixed Berries - medium shimmery warm purple with cool violet sheen (great pigmentation, creamy)
Tiramisu - medium matte warm redish brown (good pigmentation, wetter)
Peaches - medium matte muted coral brown (good pigmentation, wetter)
Cloudberry - medium matte orange (great pigmentation, wetter)
Pumpkin - medium matte pinkish red (good pigmentation, wetter)
Pine Tree - medium shimmery olive green with chunks of green gold shimmer (amazing pigmentation, creamy)
Petrol - medium shimmery redish brown base with petrol blue duo chrome sheen (amazing pigmentation, creamy)
Pug - light matte cool muddy grey brown (good pigmentation, wetter)
Danger - matte medium muted red (good pigmentation, wetter)
Strawberry Sweets - medium warm matte pink (good pigmentation, wetter)
Festive Flame - medium shimmery cranberry red (orange red pink) with chunks of shimmer (good pigmentation, wetter)
Copper Coin - medium shimmery copper with chunks of shimmer (good pigmentation, wetter)
Mug Cake - dark matte cool chocolate brown (good pigmentation, wet)
Rosewood - dark matte cool mauve brown (good pigmentation, wetter)
Nightmare - dark matte cool black (good pigmentation, wetter)

My absolute favorite shades are all the pops of colors. Mixed Berries is one of my new favorite purples, because it's bright enough, looks so metallic, is very creamy and just warm enough. Pine Tree is another one of those super creamy and pigmented shades. I just love this golden olive tone. Petrol is the most unique shade in this palette with a warm purple base and petrol blue sheen. It's also very pigmented and looks so dimensional.

I also really likePancakes which is almost my skin tone and perfect transition shade and Cuppa Tea which is the most perfect yellow toned mustard crease shade. Sparks Fly is another favorite because of the super creamy formula and that true gold shade.

Formula

Formula is in general on the wet side. Mattes feel wet to the touch and most shimmery colors seem even wetter. Some feels so wet that they apply almost like a cream

Pigmentation is good. I find that lighter colors are sheerer as well as some mattes. Most shimmery shades have good pigmentation and some even amazingwith just one swipe

Performance

Some of the darker matte shades can be harder to blend and you have to build them up sometimes to get the intensity that you want. I also find shimmery shades hard to apply with a brush. They are so creamy that it's best, if you just apply them with a finger

Eyeshadows have some kick-up as well as some fall out, so maybe do your eye makeup first, if you're using darker shades.

In general these stay well on the lids, although I notice the color fading through the day, but nothing too concerning. They don't crease, if you use an eyeshadow primer.

Now as always, lets go onto some of my makeup looks. I made a point to use all of the shades in the palette in some makeup look, so you get to see them in action.

I have to say this has to be my favorite Makeup Revolution palette, because I just adore design and colors in it. It's exactly the type of colors that I love to use the most. Pigmentation is good, but still not as good as for example Colourpop eyeshadows. Once you get used to that amazing pigment and blend, you just get spoiled, like I did. Nonetheless, it's a very good formula for a drugstore palette and most of these shades perform well. Some shimmery shades are super creamy and have just a-mazing pigmentation, while some darker mattes need more building up. In general, I like it and the color range is just amazing for one palette, if you want a bit of everything in those warm tones.

Review: The Saem Cover Perfection Tip Concealer - 01 Clear Beige

$

I've seen this concealer on Mateja's blog and I already read some great reviews of it when I was researching out about Korean makeup. It seems to be cult favorite in Korea and after I've tried it out, I can see why.

Packaging

It comes in a small transparent packaging tube with sponge tip applicator. I must have gotten a faulty packaging, because the product is gathering around the closing and whenever I close it, the product comes out on the sides. It drives me crazy, because I'm wasting product. But apparently, others didn't have that problem, so I assume I just got the wrong one.

The packaging is smaller than the usual drugstore concealers, but it holds 6.8 grams of product. Price is different depending on where you buy it, I got it on sale on Jolse for 5.58$. It's definitely very affordably priced.

Sponge doe foot applicator works fine. You can control how much product you want on the face and I always prefer these kind of applicators because they're less messy.

Colors

Most Korean brands offer very limited shade range, but if you find yourself in the more lighter spectrum of skin tones, you'll definitely find something for you. The Saem concealer comes in three shades and there are also two shades supposedly for brightening and contouring. I have the lightest shade 01 Clear Beige.

01 Clear Beige is light warm beige shade. It has a bit of yellow undertone, but it's not too warm. This shade is currently light enough for my NC15 skin tone. But, if I apply it very thick, it can oxidize just a little. Just keep that in mind.

Comparison

The Saem Cover Perfection Tip Concealer 01 Clear Beige - light warm beige shade. It has a bit of yellow undertone, but it's not too warm.
Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer 1 Fair - light peachy to pink toned shade. It's not all the way cool toned, but not warm toned either. This one seems lighter than The Saem, but it oxidizes a little.
Look by Bipa Matte Camouflage Concealer 010 Light - light neutral shade. It's almost the most perfect neutral tone not leaning on any side. It's also light enough for me and seems a tiny bit lighter than The Seam.
Catrice Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer 005 Light Natural - light very warm yellow toned shade. This one is the most yellow toned shade out of all of these. It's also light enough for my skin tone and similar to The Saem.
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer NC15 - light warm shade. It has a bit of yellow tone to it, but it's subtle and seems to be the lightest shade out of all of these.

Formula

It's a creamy, but thicker formula that has that smooth slide to it which reminds me of Catrice Liquid Camouflage concealers. But it dries really quickly to that perfect matte finish which is more similar to Look by Bipa and Collection Lasting Perfection concealer. It seems to be the thickest in formulation. It also contains SPF 28 PA++.

That's why the pigmentation is amazing. With just one swipe you can cover almost everything. If you have some heavier discoloration like blue under eyes, you might need to go over it with the second coat. It covers pimples as well with just a tiny dot. This is probably the highest coverage concealer I have tried so far and it's definitely buildable to a high coverage. You'll also use it up very slowly, because you really don't need a lot to get that coverage.

Performance

It dries really fast and you can't really move it after it dries down, so I suggest blending it fairly quickly. It oxidizes on my hand like most concealers, but I don't notice it while blending it out on my face, only if the layer is thicker

Even after it sets, it feels just a tiny bit sticky which means it's not drying on the skin. It doesn't crease under the eyesnor settle into fine lines, but keep in mind it's not super hydrating for those that have really dry skin. I always set it with a bit of loose powder anyway, because I do that with most concealers.

It lasts well on the skin and the coverage is pretty much the same at the end of the day. It just wears off a bit on my oilier parts, like around the nose and on the chin. But in general it's very long lasting formula.

Obviously, it's my new favorite concealer, because it has such a high coverage. I don't always go for super high coverage foundations, although I like a good coverage, but for concealers I want that. Because I want concealer to cover anything I need covering in just one coat and this one does that. I literally use only small dots, that's how pigmented it is. It has matte finish, is long lasting, doesn't gather in fine lines and isn't drying. Shade range could be better, but 01 Clear Beige seems good enough for my skin tone. It can oxidize a little, if you apply thicker layer. Affordable price tag is another plus for this concealer. If you're looking for something higher coverage and matte, I highly recommend this one.

Another round of some new products, some repurchases as well as some PR products. Spring and summer always brings exciting new launches and here are mini reviews of some of these.

Avon Mark Epic Intense Eyeshadow Mini Palette - Island Vibes, Art of the Nudes, Intergalactic*

These are the new Mark eyeshadow palettes and I had some time to fully test them out. Avon eyeshadows are in general more of a drier formula and they need to be build up for an intense look, although some of their matte shades look really intense in these palettes. I especially love all the pops of colors. I'll have a separate review of them all with swatches and makeup looks.

Avon Mark Big & False Lash Mascara*

This one is waiting to be tried out, because I have so many new mascaras. I don't like to test them all at once and waste them.

Nivea Oil in Lotion Orange Blossom & Avocado Oil*

I like Nivea body lotions, because they just seem to have the perfect combination of nourishing layer, but a lightweight feel. This one has that slight citrus sweet scent and it leaves behind a nice nourishing layer. It's super smooth, absorbs well and is moisturizing.

This is probably my 6th repurchase. It's one of my favorite acid toners that contains AHA and BHA. It's liquid that has quite strong tea tree scent, but it contains some nice natural ingredients. I like it, because it removes dead skin cells and I feel like it also cleans out my pores.

Etude House 0.2 Therapy Air Mask - Ceramide, Manuka Honey

Ceramide version is a repurchase. I like this one because it felt very nourishing and moisturizing, great for when you really need that extra help with your skin. Manuka honey is a new version that I haven't tried out yet. I've only tried it once now and it's nice. Again one of those very nourishing and moisturizing sheet masks. I also like sweet and almost a bit citrusy scent of manuka honey. These have nice thin sheet and fit well on my face.

Terra Naturi Body Milk Aloe Vera & Coconut Scent

I got this as a gift. It's a white cream consistency, but for some reason it feels like those Bale body butters, because it leaves behind a white layer that you have to really massage into the skin to make it disappear. It has a subtle herbal coconuty scent and it feels a bit thicker on the skin. I feel like this would be better for colder months.

Essence Eye Blender Brush

After trying out some of the new Essence brushes, I got one more. This one didn't impress me as much as others. It's a blending brush, but it's way too big for my taste. I wouldn't mind that, if it meant that the bristles were super soft and not densely packed, but these are. I feel like it's too dense for blending and not tapered enough. This would actually be better for blending out concealer or for something like highlighter.

Another one of those repurchases that I stopped counting. Whenever I see this on sale in Avon, I get it. It's a descent setting spray that prolongs the wear of my makeup. I also like using it when I apply a lot of powders, to just make them blend together better and not look as unnatural. It's a great affordable option, if you're looking for something like that.

Avon Mark Artist Gel Longwear Eyeliner Rich Copper

I have their older versions of these gel liners and it's one of my favorite formula. This is basically like a gel liner in a pen form. Black is super black and ultra smooth, great for smudging. I decided to also try out something more brown and this rich copper is a medium warm golden brown shade with small gold sparkles. It's not as pigmented as the matte black version, but still has that creamy gel formula that is so easy to blend and smudge out.

I recently raved about this brush as one of the best brushes for highlighting. It's super soft, not too dense and just the right size to give you precise application. When I posted about it, I decided to get another one, just in case, because you never know when Essence might decided to discontinue it, like they do with a lot of their products.

Essence LE Glow... Baked Metallic Highlighter 03...like glitter is raining on you

I already have shade 02...like you're doing what you love and I just kept seeing this LE everywhere, so I decided to try out that other medium shade as well. Mostly because of how pretty it looked on Vesna here. It's a rose gold shade. The base looks almost a bit bronzy, but the sheen on top is like a light pink mixed with tiny bit of copper. I find it so unique in shade. It's very reflective, but doesn't contain any obvious shimmer. On the photos it doesn't look half as pretty as it does in real life. It's a bit too dark for me as a highlighter, so I mostly use it as a blush topper on tops of my cheeks for that added glow.

On my photos it looks almost gold, but it's more bronze in real life and it has that gorgeous pink sheen on top that doesn't show up on photos at all.

The Little Book of Skin Care Korean Beauty Secrets for Healthy, Glowing skin by Charlotte Cho

I've already mentioned this book in my April Favorites. I got it as a gift from my cousin and I really like it. I've been slowly getting into that Korean skin care world and this is the perfect book to give you the basics of their routine as well as an insight in Korean culture in general. It's a light read, but provides you with all the basics that you might be interested in.

If I would do my own palette, this would be it, as far as the colors go. It has all those basic warm neutral tones as well as some of my favorite pops of colors. Formula is in general more wet and the pigmentation is good. My only problem is that some of the mattes don't blend as nice. Some shimmery shades are so creamy that it's best to apply them with fingers. But in general, the quality is pretty good for the price.

Makeup Revolution Ingot Highlighter Rose Gold*

Makeup Revolution also came out with new highlighters. Rose Gold is a light rose bronze base with a silver sheen. Shimmer is very fine so it just gives you a nice metallic sheen, but no chunks. It's a bit dark for my skin tone right now, so I use it only on top of blush to add some of the colorful highlight. Although you can pick it up with fluffy blush and it shows up lighter on skin with more of that silver sheen.

Bourjois Satin Edition 24h Eyeshadow - 03 Mauve your body and 01 Beige-seller*

I've read some review of these already and apparently, they work different on me. I find that these need a bit of time to dry down and in the mean time I can get them in my crease, if I apply too much. It's definitely an eyeshadow that needs to be build up to look intense and you have to have patience with it. One color is more of a taupe mauve and the other is light gold with silver sheen. They do last very well once you actually apply them well and let them set.

Nivea UV Face Moisture Mousse SPF 50+ and UV Face Q10 Anti-age & Anti-pigments SPF 30*

I always get excited about testing out new sunscreens, because this is just something that you need as soon as the sun comes out in spring. I use SPF on my face every day in warmer months and even more so, if I'm spending the day outdoors.  Nivea came out with two new products. Mousse is fun to use, but feels more oil based and greasier. I would use this by the sea or when going to the pool. Cream version for anti-aging is better for daily use, because it's not as emollient. Both of these really leave no white residue, as they promise, and have that lovely typical Nivea scent.

The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane

I ordered a few Ordinary products, because they are just the cheapest for what you get and it seems like a fool proof system of testing some new ingredient that you want to introduce into your skin care routine. I was too scared to order retinol, because of it's side effects, so I got retinoid instead. Starting small and I can always go up from here. It's a very greasy formula. More than I would expect, it feels almost like oil on the skin. There is absolutely no irritation. So far I noticed that this helps to heal my breakouts and the skin looks a bit clearer while I use it.

The Ordinary Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10%

This is one of their vitamin Cs and I decided on this one because of the low irritation and price. It's almost like a nourishing cream that I use at night time. Because it feels so nourishing, I skip the moisturizer on top of it. Actual performance is to be debatable, because I haven't been using it long enough to see any results. I'm hoping this will add some anti-oxidants to my skin as well as lighten up my sallowness around the mouth.

The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution

I've had Pixi Glow Tonic before and since glycolic acid seems to be so raved about for everyday routine, I decided to try this one from Ordinary as well. It has a herbal scent that I actually really like. So far, I notice it making my skin smoother, but I definitely notice that it's only an AHA. Because when I use COSRX version my pores look much cleaner than with just this. But this is great to use every day as a toner as it keeps my skin smoother on the surface.

Balea Deodorant Sensitive

I use roll on deodorant which are very inconvenient for the summer, because it leaves your armpits and clothes wet. That is why I want to try out some aerosol deodorants and this one seemed nice, because it contains no alcohol and no aluminum. It also doesn't leave any white marks on my skin or clothes which is another plus. It has the most addicting baby powder kind of scent. I adore it. This is a mini version, but if this doesn't clog my skin, I'll probably buy a full size version.

Balea Rasiergel LE Peach Love

Balea shaving gels are a staple in my body care routine, because they're cheap, work great and always have fun LE scents. I got Peach Love version which smells like Nestea Peach Ice Tea. Their gels come out as a gel and quickly turn into a foam. They also have added colors, so they don't just work great, but also look fun.

This is my all time favorite eyeliner and probably my 5th repurchase. I love it, because it's super precise, it has nice thin brush applicator and literally doesn't dry up for like half a year. It just lasts and lasts. I also have brown version. It also doesn't smudge and is in fact waterproof.

Clio Pro Play Handy Eyelash Tweezer

I still have problems applying false eyelashes on myself. I can do it better on others, so I decided to get one of those eyelash tweezers to help me. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm hoping it will make this task a little easier. They were super cheap too.

L.O.V. HEARTful Healthy Glow Blush 041 Radiant Rosewood

So apparently Müller in Slovenia has decided to no longer offer L.O.V. products. Well that sucks. Maybe DM will pick up on their mistake. I go across to Austrian DMs often and sometimes find great deals. Like this blush, which was half off, so I decided to try it. It's a brick orange shade with hints of pink and it has lovely natural sheen on the skin. I really like the color as well as the sheen on top.

Essence Fresh & Fit Awake Primer Healhty Glow Pore Minimizing Effect

I hear this is supposed to be Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow Primer dupe, but I got it manly because I have mostly matte primers and I wanted something more glowy looking. It has a pearly silver sheen to it, but the base is more peachy. This leaves a very healthy glow on the skin and it doesn't seem to sit in pores nor make my skin any more oily. It has fruity scent and so far it works great as a primer. This would be nice all over your skin for that ultra glowy look, if you don't need any foundation on top.

Essence Fit Me! Matte + Poreless Foundation 100 Warm Ivory

I mostly got this, because the shade 100 actually seemed like one of the lightest shades in drugstore and I still don't have any super light foundation in my collection. Mateja raves about it and it's one of her favorite foundations. Shade 100 is actually the closest to my current natural skin color. It's lightly yellow toned and light enough for NC15 skin tone, but it does seem to have some peach tone in it which I don't appreciate as much. My problem is that this is lighter coverage than I expected. I would say it's light to medium. It also doesn't seem to sit as nice on my skin, sometimes it can look a bit obvious. I need to test that out more, because I might be using it with the wrong skin care. For something that claims to be matte this gets oily way quicker than I thought. I definitely wouldn't recommend it for oily skin.

Balea Ultra Sensitive Totes Meer SOS Feuchtigkeitsspray

It's a spray solution for red and irritated skin. Basically for those that are prone to allergies and need some kind of relief. I am always up for trying something new and this one seemed very affordable. Apparently it contains panthenol and allantoin that should strengthen skin's barrier. I got it for my itchy eczema hands. It's a transparent liquid that feels a bit sticky (might be because of the dead sea salt), but is in general lightweight on the skin. I have to test it more in order to see, if it really helps my skin.

This is my new favorite concealer. It's the highest coverage concealer I have had so far. Formula is thicker cream and it dries very quickly into a matte finish that for some reason doesn't seem drying and it also doesn't crease. I like that I can use so little of it and it really covers well, but doesn't look too cakey either. Color 01 is light enough for my NC15 skin tone.

Review: Avon Mark Epic Intense Eyeshadow Mini Palettes

$
0
0
Avon is adding new products to their brand Mark. Their new Avon Mark Epic Intense Eyeshadow Mini Palettes look like Avon True Colour Eyeshadow Quads, but the color selection is different. Formula is similar, although some shades have surprisingly awesome pigmentation.

Packaging

Palettes come in a black shiny plastic packaging with the mark sign along the right side. It's minimalistic and closes securely. With it you also get small double sided sponge applicator. One side is regular triangular shaped, but the other side is more pointed. I don't use these applicators, although they would work nice for packing on more glittery shades.

In it is 5 grams of product and the regular price is 13€. They're almost always on some sort of offer, like now for 7.90€ (Slovenia).

Colors

In the range you can choose among 8 color combinations. I'm sure they'll further expend the shade range. There are some more nude palettes, some metallics and some filled with brighter colors, a bit of everything really.

Art of the Nudes

This is warm toned nude palette. I was surprised to see that all the shades look satin or shimmery. Usually, I can't do a look without a matte transition shade. So I did a few looks with this palette. It's a safe choice for someone that doesn't like too much on the eyes, but just wants light wash of color on the lids.

1 - shimmery warm light brown with silver shimmer chunks
2 - satin cool medium olive brown
3 - satin neutral light beige brown
4 - satin warm light orange

Most of these have drier formula. I find the wettest to be shade 4. They all have sheerer pigmentation, but can be build up.

My favorite shade is shade 3, because it has such a neutral and elegant tone to it. This is the perfect color to just apply all over the lid as a light wash.

Intergalactic

This is a smoky palette with a twist and that is the bright matte purple shade. You can create much darker and smokier look with this one or just use that one bright color all over the lid for that romantic spring look. It also has more variety in the finishes.

1 - matte cool black with silver shimmer chunks
2 - matte cool brown black with purple and blue shimmer chunks
3 - matte cool medium lilac
4 - shimmery cool silver with silver shimmer chunks

This palette has the most dry formula out of all the three, but the pigmentation is actually really nice, although you still need to layer it or wet it for intense look.

Shade 2 is super unique, because it has those purple and blue shimmer chunks that make it look like galaxy. Unfortunately the shimmer doesn't transfer on the lid, if you apply it with a brush, it's best to just pat it on with finger. Shade 4 can be used as silver shimmer topper, because it's so dry, so you can just lightly tap it on the lid and mostly get that shimmer chunks without the silver base.

My favorite shade is the purple, because it has such an intense white base to it and can be build up to look intense. I also like shade 4, because I can use it as shimmery topper on top of other shades.

Island Vibes

Out of these three, this is my favorite color combination, because I love colorful matte shades. It's hard to get these in drugstore, most colorful shades are usually shimmery. This is more of that bolder and colorful option for those that are daring enough. I find it to be great color combination for spring and summer.

1 - matte warm medium jade green
2 - matte warm medium pink
3 - shimmery warm white with gold shimmer chunks
4 - matte warm light mint green

This one is the most pigmented and that's because matte shades have far superior pigmentation in Avon palettes. Most have drier formula. Shades 2 and 4 are a bit wetter. These also need to be build up, but in general all the colorful shades have really nice pigmentation. I tried jade green wet and it definitely looked even more intense.

Jade green is my absolute favorite shade in this palette. I was surprised how bright it looked on the lid and actually got a lot of compliments when I wore it and most asked me which eyeshadow I was wearing. I also like shade 3 which is white based, but has such a nice golden sheen on top that it almost looks duo chrome.

Formula

In general Avon eyeshadows have a drier formula, although some more satin shades feel a bit wetter to the touch.

Pigmentation is sheerer, as I'm used to Avon eyeshadows, but you can definitely build up the intensity and opaqueness by layering them or using them wet. Especially matte shades can look very opaque. Usually drugstore brands have better pigmented shimmery shades and the mattes are a bit underwhelming, but with Avon it's the opposite. I feel like mattes in these palettes have better pigmentation than in their regular quads.

Performance

Once you layer them on the lid, they stay on fairly well. The intensity wears off a bit through the day, but I don't find them to crease, although I always use an eyeshadow primer with any eyeshadow.

One problem that I had, was blending this formula. Especially darker matte shades and those more colorful matte shades, they don't blend as nice as I want them to. When you try to blend them, you loose that intensity. So you need to go back in and just tap more color on the actual lid.

They also have fall out, so be aware while you're trying to put on darker smoky shades. Just do your face makeup after and you'll be fine.

I think the color combinations are nice and not too boring. Some nude palettes that mostly have satin and shimmery shades will look sheerer. They are good for those that want a light wash on the lid and are afraid of colors. Matte colorful combinations are much more pigmented and brighter looking. These you'll like, if you're looking for fun colors and want something different. Formula in general is drier and definitely needs to be build up or used wet for intense look. Blending is an issue, but you can always combine it with other eyeshadows in the crease and just use these as pops on the lid. In general, I'm very pleased with those matte colorful shades and I think it's worth the price, if you're looking for some specific shades. Nude satin shades are a bit boring for my taste and not pigmented enough. I have my eye on another colorful combo called Color Crush. If all are matte, I might get this one too.

Review: H&M Pure Velvet Cream Blusher - Cameo Brown

$

A while ago I saw some H&M Beauty products on sale and this cream blusher caught my eye. I love a cream blush for those more natural, using all creams kind of looks, but most drugstore brands usually have bright colored cream blushes and I always wanted something more wearable. That's why I got H&M Pure Velvet Cream Blusher in the most beautiful shade called Cameo Brown.

Packaging

I already own three of their powder blushers which have black packaging, but the cream versions has white plastic top with gold details. I like their slim and honey comb shaped design. It's great to travel with.

In it is 4 ml of product and the regular price was 7.99€. I don't know if they still sell these, but when I got them they were on offer for 3€.

Formula

It's a cream blush, so the formula is creamy, but also not too greasy like some can be. I don't find it sticky, but it also doesn't dry down to a powder finish. Finish is creamy with a bit of sheen

Pigmentation is actually really good for a cream blush, but it's still a little see through, so it sits on and looks very natural on the skin. You can definitely build it up or sheer it out. It also doesn't look patchy and sits well over cream products.

Colors

They had quite a good range of colors when I got this one, but I can't find them online anymore, only one shade is still up, so I'm not sure if you can still get these. But I love most of the colors, because H&M just has such a nice selection of muted nudes as well as some pops of colors.

Cameo Brown is that perfect mix of muted pink and brown with just a tad bit of orange warmth to it. I'd say it's warm pinky brown, but in that dirty kind of tone that just looks so natural and not too vibrant on the skin. I also love the fact that is more brownish and not that bright pink that usually looks way too unnatural on my skin tone.

Comparison

Trend It Up Powder Blusher 050 - is here for comparison, so that you can see Cameo Brown is actually not pink. This one is mauve toned and more of that proper pink, although it has some dusty vibe to it.
MAC Sheertone Blush Pinch Me - this is a more peach based equivalent. It's also that mix of like red, pink and peach, but it's not as brown toned and is way warmer.
H&M Pure Radiance Powder Blusher Rosy Brown - seems the most similar, but is again a bit warmer, slightly more orange based, but the top layer looks pinkier. It's also lighter and not as muddy looking.
H&M Pure Velvet Cream Blusher Came Brown - the darkest and most muddy toned blush. Perfect mix of muted pink and brown with a warm base.

Performance

Because it's a cream blush, it's obviously not all that long lasting. Powder blushes just seem to last longer on the skin, because of the texture. It fades through the day. I like to set it with a transluscent powder to prolong the wear for a bit, but at the end of the day it's a lot less vibrant looking. Avoid touching it, because it's not transfer proof.

If you like or just want to add cream blush to your collection, I think this is a good option. It has really nice pigmentation, but still lets skin to be seen through and can be build up to look very intense. I love the color, because it's the perfect muted pinky brown. It looks super natural on the skin. Obviously it's not long lasting, but you can always top it with a powder blush or a loose powder to make it last better. If you have the chance to still get those blushes, I recommend checking out the shades. They are pretty unique for a drugstore brand.

Review: Bourjois Satin Edition 24h Eyeshadow (01 Beige-seller, 03 Mauve-your-body)

Bourjois is one of those drugstore brands that seems to have quality products. I still use their Healthy Mix Foundation, because it looks so natural on the skin and I absolutely adore Rouge Velvet The Lipsticks which have the best matte finish ever. Obviously, I was excited to try some more from them and than these Bourjois Satin Edition 24h Eyeshadows landed in my mail.

Packaging

These come in transparent plastic packaging that looks like their old Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks. Top is plastic and colored to represent the shade inside.

It has doe foot applicator that holds enough product and it applies nicely, but you definitely need some additional blending.

In it is 8 ml of product and it costs 10.29€

Colors

You can choose among 8 different colors and apparently satin and metallic finish. All the shades are very wearable. There are some brown nudes, greys, silvers and even some olive green. I really miss some warm tones in the collection. They all seem pretty neutral or cool toned.

01 Beige-selleris neutral beige gold with a bit of warmth to the base and it has silver shimmer in it which gives it that satin silver sheen.

03 Mauve-your-body is cool mauve brown that also has a hint of greyness to it. It also contains small shimmer, but it's less visible in this shade and doesn't give it that sheen so it's more of a proper satin finish.

Formula

It's indeed a very lightweight and ultra creamy texture as they describe it. The cream is not too liquid, but it has a very smooth glide to it and you can apply it on with the applicator, but need additional brush or fingers to blend it out

It's a sheerer formula that can be build up, but you'll need to put some effort in doing so. My main problem is the sheer cream that gets sheerer as soon as you start to blend it. So it's better to pat it on heavier on those parts that you want more coverage and just lightly buff out the edges. I do about three coats to get very opaque look. Plus you need to wait in between each layer for it to dry down, which doesn't take long.

Performance

Once this sets on the lid, it doesn't move at all. It's actually very long lasting, but not waterproof. Because it's so creamy, you have to make sure that it dries down completely, before moving your lids too much (especially if you have hooded eyes), so that it doesn't gather in the crease. But once it's on, you can forget about it. It also doesn't noticeably fade through the day

I had a bit of problems with blending. Sometimes they set too quickly, if I applied lighter layer, and then it's harder to get that perfect blurred edge that you can get with powder eyeshadows.

Bourjois Satin Edition 24h Eyeshadow 01 Beige-seller

I prefer to wear these eyeshadows on the lid only and I usually place some regular powder eyeshadow as a transition shade in the crease - mostly brown. This you'll see as my first look with each shade. On the second look, I applied only the eyeshadow all over the lid blended out of the crease as well.

Bourjois Satin Edition 24h Eyeshadow 03 Mauve-your-body

Out of both these shades I actually prefer this one. It's more cool toned, but the purple hint in it just suits my eyes better. The beige gold one is too light and not enough warm for my liking.

I was a bit upset by the fact that I had to really make sure to apply them evenly and blend out as good as possible, but then again, I am not the biggest fan of creamy or even liquid eyeshadows. They tend to need more effort with application. That being said, these are very long lasting which surprised me. They also don't crease through the day nor fade noticeably. Shade selection is a bit boring for me personally, because I like some color or warmer tones, but it's very wearable which is a good thing for average customer. If you have the time to layer them for opaque look and want something that really lasts well without you checking it up through the day plus has wearable shades, then you'll definitely like these.

Review: Nivea Oil in Lotion Orange Blossom & Avocado Oil

$
0
0
I've always loved Nivea body lotions, because they just have the perfect mix of nourishing lotion and lightweight feel on the skin. I've tried a few version by now and I'll list reviews on the bottom of this post. Today I'm talking about the latest version of their oil in lotion scent that is Nivea Oil in Lotion Orange Blossom & Avocado Oil.

Packaging

By now you're probably used to typical Nivea blue plastic packaging with dark blue top and Nivea sign on it. I like that these bottles have a slant top so that when you're finishing the product, you can just place it on its head and get out every last bit of it. No waste here.

In it is 200 ml of product and the price is 3.69€.

Formula

Their oil in lotion range is known for adding oil into the lotion formula which makes it feel nourishing, but doesn't feel greasy on the skin. Formula is like a lightweight milky white lotion that has smooth glide on the skin. It doesn't feel greasy or thick in any way, but still leaves on your skin that nourishing layer that just feels so good. It doesn't look shiny and it absorbs quickly. You can dress up and go about your day in the matter of seconds.

Orange Blossom & Avocado Oil is new version that is enriched with the scent of orange blossoms. Nivea even has notes that they've put into the scent.

Top notes: lemon sorbet, oranges and water bamboo.
Middle notes: orange blossoms, neroli and white magnolia
Base notes: powdery notes, cashmere wood and creamy sandalwood.

I definitely smell some orange zest in the beginning. After a few seconds it turns more floral and then it slowly becomes slightly more powdery sweet. It's a lovely scent, but it doesn't linger on the body for a long time.

Performance

Nivea says that it should moisturize the skin for 24 hours. I don't know about you, but I take a shower after like 12 hours. I usually apply it in the morning and in the evening, when I take a shower, I can still feel it on my skin as a protective nourishing layer that needs to be washed off with soap. It's definitely moisturizing on the skin and in a way also nourishing, because it protects the skin and makes it soft

To sum up, I like it. It has that lightweight lotion formula, but a lovely nourishing feel on the skin. The scent is nice, although it doesn't stay on the skin for long, but the lotion is long lasting on the skin and it protects it while also keeping it moisturized. Plus the price is pretty affordable.

May 2018 Favorites

As every month, here are some of my new and old favorite products that I have been loving on a daily. I have also finished a project that has occupied five months of my life and that has been one of my life goals.

The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution

It's a basic glycolic acid, so an AHA toner, that I feel is gentle enough, but still helps to get my skin a bit smoother on the surface. It doesn't irritate me and actually feels a bit hydrating too. I like that it has a soothing herbal scent that isn't too strong. I've been mostly using it in the evening routine. It's a bit gentler than my COSRX BHA which I don't use while using retinol products. It could be a bit much for my skin, if combined.

Secret Key Aloe Soothing Moist Toner

This is heavily recommended because of it's huge packaging for a fairly affordable price. I needed to introduce hydrating toner in my routine, because I'm trying to stray away from heavier creams in summer time. I have combination skin which can get very oily on my T zone and I've noticed that heavier creams tend to clog my pores more. It's a basic hydrating toner that feels light on the skin, but definitely gives you that instant soothing feel after you wash your face. I mostly use it in the morning routine and sometimes in the evening too, if I feel like my skin is a bit dehydrated. It has lovely herbal, but almost a bit sweet subtle scent. I always say I'm not huge on scented skin care products, but this one might be one of my favorite scents.

Essence Fresh & Fit Awake Primer Healhty Glow Pore Minimizing Effect

Some describe this as Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow Primer dupe. I wouldn't know, if this is true or not, but it definitely looks like a similar kind of product. It has light peachy tint to it, but once you spread it on the skin, it just gives you a very healthy looking almost a bit silvery glow. It doesn't really show much through a heavier foundation on top, but it's a great primer for making skin look hydrated and adding a bit of that natural glow as a base. It would be great worn on its own or as a natural highlighter on top of some thinner BB cream. It also covers pores fairly well, although not like some of my other more silicon based primers. The scent is fruity sweet.

I have finally finished all my older bottles of this and am now on the new bottle that has a pump. Can I hear a hallelujah?! Revlon you should have thought of doing this like 10 years ago. But we have it now and it's so much easier to apply. I love this foundation, because it has good coverage, doesn't look too cakey and doesn't look too matte either. It's one of those foundations that I use when I want better coverage and something that will last on my skin very well.

I can't believe I've hit the pan on this. Actually, I can believe, because I use this like there's no tomorrow. It's one of the most reflective, yet also natural looking highlighters. It gives you insane sheen to the skin, but has almost no base color too it. It let's your skin shine through and really looks like a proper glow. It's so good that I'm heavily considering buying another one right away.

When I want some natural and quick makeup look, I go for cream products. This in combination with Flexitarian gives me color and glow to the cheeks on top of a lighter BB cream. It has the most perfect brownish base with that muted pink color. On the cheeks it looks very natural, melts into the makeup well and in general looks a bit satin, like it's part of your natural glow. It's also really pigmented, so you need a very small amount.

L.O.V. RoyaLINER Eyeliner Pen in 120 Brown Elegance

I don't like buying drugstore eyeliners, because they mostly disappoint me. Usually with the tips that don't saturate the product well and I don't have the patience to deal with that. But for some reason tester of this one seemed really nice, so I go it while it was on sale. It has brush applicator, which I love. It's well saturated and glides on the skin nicely. It doesn't crumble or transfer. Color is actually very dark cool brown. It almost looks black. It dries down to a matte finish with just a bit of sheen. Black tester from this one looked much sheerer and harder to apply, so I recommend only this shade, if you're interested in it.

My lips have been a bit drier again and when they feel tight, I love wearing comforting glossy lip glosses. Colourpop has such a comforting formula. It feels like you're giving your lips a break. I love that it's not too sticky and that it almost soothes my lips. So far I only have it in one color - Weho which is a warm peachy brown. It's a good warm nude that goes with most makeup looks. I only hate that once I close it, the product gathers around the top and spills out on the sides. Because of that I can't carry it with me in the bag.

Balea Deodorant Sensitive

This doesn't do a good job of me not sweating or smelling great for a really long time, because I usually use anti-perspirants, but it has such a lovely powdery almost baby powder kind of scent that I love it. I usually spray this on top of my other deodorants just to get that scent on top. I also got it in a mini version which is great to carry around with you. It doesn't contains any alcohol, so it's not irritating on the skin either. It also didn't leave any noticeable white marks on my clothes.

It's one of my favorite spring perfumes that I bring out each spring and I can't get enough of it. I would describe it as a comforting freshly washed cloths scent mixed with gentle floral notes and a bit of woodiness to it. It's so gentle, soothing and comforting, yet still has a bit more to it than just smelling like fresh cotton. Lasting power is good, although it could be better, but it's just one of those inoffensive scents that most people would like to wear even on hotter days.

Certified Makeup Artist

For the past five months I have been working on a project that has been one of my life goals for a while now. I have been attending makeup courses to become certified makeup artist and yesterday I had my final exam. I am now officially a makeup artist - at least on paper. Makeup has always been one of my greatest loves. It's the reason why I started writing this blog, because I loved testing out new products. As much as I love testing new products, I also like the whole process of applying it either on me or others. That is why I am so happy that now this is added to my resume as one of those professions, that I hope, will possibly be my future business. It's at least a stepping stone closer to where I wish to be. If you have been following my Insta stories, you might have already seen some of my work that I was doing on models. I plan on maybe featuring more of my work on Instagram stories, so follow me there, if you don't already.

Review: Kiko Mini Nail Lacquer - 30 Mint Milk

$

Kiko is one of my favorite nail polish brands along Avon. I love that they have a huge color selection among different ranges. Their nail polishes also always last fairly long on my weaker nails which is the reason why I love them so much. When I was in Kiko in Graz I saw these mini nail polishes and I had to grab one of those shades that I've been looking for a while. By the way, apparently Kiko in Graz has closed and I am so upset by that. I love a lot of their products and now I probably won't be able to buy them anymore.

Packaging

These come in tiny glass bottle with black plastic top. In it is just 3.5 ml of product and it costs 1€. I would say that this is perfect for all of us that love trying out new colors, but have so many nail polishes at home that we just don't want a huge bottle, since we'll never finish it anyway. It's also the best affordable gift to give anyone.

Brush is normal size and straight cut. I had no problem with applying it.

Colors

They have a smaller selectionof colors of these minis than they do of their normal ranges, but that's fairly new, so they might expend it. There's some nudes, reds, pastels and some more shimmery shades

I got the shade 30 Mint Milk which is pastel mint green shade. I've had one of those in the past by Maybelline and ever since mine dried up, I wanted to get something similar. It has that milky base to it, but the shade itself is very much a pastel mint on the greener spectrum.

Formula

It's a creamy formula that has just enough glide to it. It's not runny nor thick. You have time to spread it on the nails. It has good pigmentation for being so pastel. You could apply just one thicker coat, but I prefer two normal coats for the best result. It covers the nail well. Finish is creamy and it has a bit of shine to it, but I always prefer applying top coat over any colored nail polish.

Performance

Most Kiko nail polishes have above average long lasting ability on my weaker nails and this one too. It lasted about 4 days on my nails before any mayor chipping began.

Those tiny nail polishes are definitely worth a try, if you like Kiko creamy formula and their lasting ability. I wish they had more color choices, especially some crazy colors, but I'm hoping they'll expend this range in the future. You can't beat that price, if you would like to experiment with colors. I would definitely buy more, if I had the chance.

Review: Nivea Sun UV Face Moisture Mousse and Q-10 Anti-Age and Anti-Pigments SPF

$

I've almost always used some sort of Nivea SPF for the body (especially by the sea), because I like their packaging and formulas. So far, I haven't tried their face SPFs and since I do use SPF on my face daily in spring and summer time, I was excited to try out two of their new releases. This is one of those products that will definitely be used up and is very much a necessity in my routine.

Nivea Sun UV Face Moisture Mousse SPF 50+

Packaging

This is a mousse meant for daily use with and SPF of 50+. It comes in a can. Their design is white, blue and orange. It has plastic cap on top and it dispenses foam through a small square opening. In it is 72.9 grams or 75 ml of product and the price is around 12€.

Formula

It gives you UVA and UVB protection against sun exposure and other UV-induced face skin damage. They describe formula as moisturizing and ideal for every dayuse with a light and smooth skin feeling.

In the ingredients list you'll notice that it contains chemical UV filters, which means this is a chemical sunscreen. I already use some chemical sunscreens for the face and prefer it over mineral or physical filters, because they feel more lightweight on the skin. Second ingredient is also glycerin which makes sense, because this feels very moisturizing on the skin.

Before using it, make sure to shake it well. At the beginning I got out a lot of oily base instead of a proper foam, so make sure to shake. It comes out as a slightly yellow tinted foam. As soon as you starts to massage it into the skin, it starts too like like a white milk. You need to spread it and massage it into the skin in order to blend. It doesn't leave any white residue as they promise. Finish on the skin has a bit of glow to it and it looks dewy.

It has that proper Nivea sunscreen scent which I like.

Performance

This is definitely moisturizing and I think would be better suited for dry skin. I have combination skin and this feels too greasy for me to use on daily. I would definitely use it when going to swim or chill by the pool/ by the sea, but not under makeup. For me personally it's too moisturizing. The slightly greasy nourishing layer on the skin would definitely be too much for anyone that gets oily quickly.

I wore this outside and I haven't notice my skin getting burnt or looking any less pale, so I assume the SPF in here works. But for a proper SPF test I would need to go swimming or stay outdoor for a few hours.

It doesn't feel irritating and I don't notice any alcohol tingle or scent to it, but it does have added perfume. Chemical filters may also be problematic for some of you that don't tolerate them well.

Nivea Sun Face Q-10 Anti-Age And Anti-Pigments SPF30

Packaging

If mousse was moisturizing formula, than this one is supposedly for all of us that want to prevent aging sun damage on our skin. It has an SPF of 30. This one comes in a regular plastic tube with again white, blue and orange design. It has small round opening and a plastic top. In it is 50 ml of product and it costs around 10€.

Formula

It also protects you against UVA and UVB rays. The Q-10 formula should prevent the appearance of sun induced fine lines, wrinkles and pigment spots. It should also give your skin light and silky smooth feeling

Coenzyme Q-10 is naturally present in our body. Its main function is to produce cellular energy in mitochondria. It also acts as antioxidant which is vital for fighting free radicals that can damage our skin on daily basis. You will find it in the ingredients list under ubiquinone and it's actually farther down the list.

In the ingredients list you'll again find a lot of chemical UV filters which makes this a chemical sunscreen as well. Second ingredients is again glycerin which makes this formula feel moisturizing on the skin. This formula also contains some alcohols which make it thinner and a bit more lightweight on the skin. Most sunscreens contains some amount of alcohol anyway, so it doesn't bother me personally.

It comes out as lightly yellow tinted cream. It looks thicker, but once you starts spreading it out, it feels more lightweight in texture and massages in a lot quicker than mousse. This one also leaves behind no white residue. Finish has a bit of sheen on the skin, but in general feels much more lightweight and thinner in consistency than the mousse version.

It also has that typical Nivea sunscreen scent.

Performance

This one also feels moisturizing and you could skip your moisturizer, if you have oily or combinations skin. It's much more lightweight than mousse and definitely doesn't have that slightly greasy nourishing layer to it. I've been using it for daily wear over my skin care and under makeup and it works good for that.

For when I went outside, it has protected my skin well. I didn't notice any burn or added color to my face. I am ok with SPF 30 or 40 for daily use.

This one will sit nicely under makeup and can be used instead of moisturizer for normal to combination skin. Dry skin would love it too and would maybe want some additional moisture underneath it. For oily skin this might not be the best, especially if you prefer something mattifying, but also doesn't feel heavy or too greasy. It's definitely a more healthy sheen on the skin.

Possible irritants may be chemical UV filters, alcohol and added perfume. For me personally, this feels non irritating on my skin. I don't smell or notice any alcohol while applying it. I have been wearing this one more, because it suits my skin better and I didn't notice it clogging my pores, so I'm satisfied with that too.

I prefer Q-10 version, because it's more lightweight on the skin, spreads easier and in general sits well under makeup. Mousse version is a bit heavier and feels almost slightly greasy, so it would be much more suited for dry skin tones that like a good nourishing layer on the skin. I will use it by the pool. They are both chemical sunscreens and leave no white residue on the skin which makes them good for daily wear. However, under my makeup I still prefer Asian formulas that absorb into nothing. For me these two by Nivea are more for outdoor activities and hanging by the pool or sea. I am covered for the face, now I just need some SPF for the body.

In Slovenia you can buy Nivea SPF products in most drugstores like DM, Müller, Tuš Drogerija and other stores that carry it (like Spar, Tuš...).

Tropicana

I've seen a few makeup looks with bright yellow eyeshadow and decided that I definitely need to try it out. I love a good colorful eye makeup and summery weather that we have in Slovenia calls for just that. Sometimes vibrant colors can look intimidating, but paired with the right face makeup and lipstick, I think they can look very wearable too. I called the look Tropicana, because it just had that kind of tropical vibe to it, plus that is also a brand that makes orange juice which is pretty much what I tried to make my eyes look like.

Across the entire lid and in the crease I applied a bright yellow matte shade. Then I took a more caramel warm matte shade and applied it in the crease as well as on the outer corner of the eye. On the lid I applied shimmery yellow shade.

Because of the yellow being a bit lighter, I decided to do brown winged out liner instead of black. It just keeps it more soft looking, although I definitely needed some definition. I applied the same shades on the lower lid as well. Instead of falsies, I applied lots of mascara for nice definition and some volume.

In the inner corner I applied shimmery yellow pen and over it a champagne highlighter for that pop of brightness and shine. On the lower inner rim of the eye I applied pale yellow white pencil to make my eyes look bigger and brighter.

On the rest of my face I used a mix of foundations and BB cream, higher coverage concealer and transluscent powder. I contoured a bit under my cheekbone and applied darker yellow toned powder as my bronzer to tie it all together with the yellow tones. For a highlighter I chose champagne shade that has that golden sheen to it. Blush is lovely pink shimmery shade with golden highlights.

I outlined my lips with a pink lip liner and applied muted pink shade. Pink lipsticks just look so good with yellows. I could also chose pinky red, but I decided to go for a more lighter shade.

Did I convince you that bright yellow can look wearable on the eyes? I am a true lover of warm tones, so this is right up my alley and I'll definitely repeat this makeup look again. Next time maybe with an even bolder lip choice or darker for that matter.

Review: L.O.V. - Eyeliner, Kohl, Brow Gel Serum and Blush

I've accumulated a few L.O.V. products and since I like all of them, I decided to do a group review. I'll try to be to the point here. They all work nice and I'm so sad that this brand is no longer available in Slovenia. Hopefully, DM picks up on it, if Müller decided to ditch it. Most of these I got on sale as they were 50% off because they were being discontinued.

L.O.V. RoyaLINER Eyeliner Pen - 120 Brown Elegance

Packaging

Typical pen liner that comes in silver chrome packaging. It has a good closing like Korean pen liners. Applicator is a brush which I prefer over a felt tip, because it gives you better precision. It's always nicely saturated and I've never had a problem with it being too dry. I've swatched the black one and it looked dried up and not as saturated, so instead I took brown version which performed a lot better.

In it is 0.55 ml of product and the regular price was 7.99€, but I got it for 3.99€.

Colors

120 Brown Elegance is dark cool brown. It's so dark that if you apply more layers on the lid, it actually looks almost black. They also have a grey and black shade in this range.

Beauty People 365 Stay Waterproof Brush Pen Eyeliner - this one is all dried up, so I had trouble swatching it. It's the most vibrant brown out of all of these and almost has a hint of red in it.
Clio Kill Brown Waterproof Brush Liner - this is one of my favorite browns and it's much lighter and a lot warmer than L.O.V. It comes off as more of a proper brown.
L.O.V. RoyaLINER Eyeliner Pen 120 Brown Elegance - the darkest brown and also the most cool toned.

Formula

Texture of it has a nice glide and it's not thick nor too liquid. Dry down is very quick. Pigmentation is a bit sheerer, but you can build it up to a very intense opaque look. Sometimes it doesn't want to adhere to those areas that are watery, but other than that it actually works really nice.

Performance

Once it dries, it doesn't move at all. It also doesn't smudge or crumble off. In general it lasts on my eyes all day

L.O.V. Confessioneyes Kohl Pencil - 120 Veil of Nude

Packaging

This is a regular pen type of kohl pencil. It has black design with a nude top and bottom to indicate shade inside. It's the longest pencil I have seen in a drugstore and there's definitely more product in it than in most pencils.

In it is 1.59 grams of product and the price was 3.49€, but I got it for 1.74€.

Colors

120 Veil of Nude is warm peach toned pastel nude. It has a lot of white base to it which makes it very opaque looking, but it also has peach tint to it which I like. I feel like it matches well with my skin tone and definitely makes my eyes look much brighter and opened up. You can also get it in black, brown and taupe.

Formula

Formula is soft which makes it so easy to apply on the waterline. Less tugging on the eyes means ultra comfortable wear. I usually don't wear pencils on the waterline, because they can be irritating, but not this one. I have actually been wearing it a lot.

Performance

It stays on my waterline for the whole day, but I have naturally drier eyes which you should keep in mind when deciding. I don't see it fading or rubbing off at all.

L.O.V. BROWttitude Brow Gel Serum - 100 All-round Temptation

Packaging

I believe that this product was already discontinued, so I won't dwell on it. It says on the packaging that it's a brow gel serum, so something that should also nourish your brows while making them stay in place.

In it is 7 ml of product and I got it for 3.45€, but I believe this was discontinued price

Colors

100 All-round Temptation is essentially a transparent gel that is just slightly white tinted. It can sometimes look a bit white on the brows, but you can get rid of that by just lightly tapping over those areas and it turns into nothing. I believe it was also available in colored versions.

Formula

I got it as one of those regular transparent brow gels to brush it through them and give them some shape. It works good for that, but doesn't have especially good hold. But it's nice to use it to brush through at the end to make the brows look more polished.

L.O.V. HEARTful Healthy Glow Blush - 041 Radiant Rosewood

Packaging

Last but not least, is probably my favorite product from L.O.V. It's a blush that comes in a small black compact that is so nice to travel with. I like a bit smaller packaging for blushes. It closes securely and even has small mirror on the inside which I don't really use, but you definitely could. It also has embossed L.O.V. on the product.

In it is 5 grams of product and the regular price is 6.99€ but I once found it on sale in Austria for 3.45€. It is a part of their regular range and you can still find it on their stand.

Colors

041 Radiant Rosewood is what I would describe as deepened peach. It has that terracotta redish burnt orange base to it, but in general I would still say that this is a peach color, just much deeper than the usual blush colors. It has small shimmer in it which gives it lovely golden peach pink sheen that is noticeable on the skin as the light hits your angles. It gives you that natural glow, no shimmer chunks. I really like that effect that it has on the skin.

They have 6 shades in total to choose from. Some pinks, purples, corals, peaches and more.

Comparison

I actually realized why I love this shade so much and it's because it's very similar to one of my all time favorite blush shades by Deborah, which is very old and I'm kind of hesitant to use it, even though it still looks fine.

Deborah Milano Blusher 24 Rame - it's the closes in tone and the sheen that it has, but it's more of a proper orange terracotta blush. It has that deep brownish orange color and small shimmer going through it.
Milani Baked Powder Blush Luminoso - a lighter and more of a peachy shade that also has a lot of orange base to it. It has small shimmer in it that give it golden glow.
Wet n Wild Coloricon Blush Apri-Cot in the Middle - this one has the most intense glow to it that gives it almost a highlighter golden vibe. The base is also peachy with just a tad of muddy feel to it. It's lighter than L.O.V. shade and more orange based.
L.O.V. HEARTful Healthy Glow Blush 041 Radiant Rosewood - compared to others it's the darkest in shade and has just slightly more of a burnished terracotta base to it, but in general it's deepened peach.

Formula

It has slightly wetter formula that has good pigmentation, but the blush in general is a bit sheerer which makes it look so natural on the skin. The more you build it up, the darker and more opaque it starts to look.

Performance

I find it to be fairly well lasting on the cheeks, although it definitely fades a bit through the day. It applies evenly and you don't need to apply much of it, because a few light strokes do the job.

I have nothing bad to say about any of these products. My absolute favorite is the blush, because I love the shade so much. It's perfect deeper burnished peach and the sheen that it has on the skin looks so pretty. They've recently added new mosaic blushes in their range and I so want one, but I have so many of blushes that I can't justify the price.

Nude kohl is one of those surprises that works so good on the waterline. I love the fact that it doesn't irritate my eyes and you get a lot more product than usual. Definitely worth picking up. Eyeliner is another surprisingly good product. Tip is always well saturated and the pen version makes it so easy to apply. It also lasts well on the eyes, although the black version in store didn't look so promising. That is why I only recommend the brown version. Brow gel serum is ok, but it's nothing special. I just got it, because it was cheap, although those transparent gels from Essence and Catrice work just as fine.

Review: The Body Shop - Coconut Body Butter, Honey Bronze Bronzer (01) and Lip Juicer

The Body Shop has made quite a stir when they've finally opened online shop in Slovenia. I'll admit that I never really bought their products before. I got a few minis as a gift and was once in the actual store in France, but found it overwhelming to choose something. But I've been hearing about the brand on other beauty blogs all the time, so some products made it to my wishlist and now I finally had the chance to try them out.

The Body Shop is British cosmetics brand that sells naturally-inspired beauty products with ethically-sourced ingredients. Their products are 100% vegetarian and some even vegan. They have stores all over the world. In their range you'll find anything from cleansing oil for the face, to body butters and even matte liquid lipsticks. Prices are higher than drugstore brands, but still fairly accessible.

The Body Shop Coconut Nourishing Body Butter

I think The Body Shop is most famous for their body butters, so I was eager to try one out. I chose coconut, because it's my favorite scent for the body.

Packaging

It comes in a plastic pot. Their design is pretty, because it makes it crystal clear on what scent is inside, plus the detailed graphic is pleasing to the eyes

In it is 200 ml of product and it costs 17.50€.

Formula

They promise you 24 hours hydration, soft skin, easily absorbed, tropical coconut scent and coconut oil from Samoa as one of the ingredients.

Butter has a thicker consistency that melts quickly when exposed to warmth of the hands. I like the fact that it's not too thick like some from Balea were, but it also feels rich. As you massage it in, it melts into nothing. On the skin it leaves slight glow and nourishing protective layer that I still feel it on at the end of the day as I'm washing it off under the shower.

Performance

It feels moisturizing on the skin and it adds to the softness of the skin as well. I like the fact that it coats the skin with nourishing layer which make it look more supple. I would definitely love this in the winter, although it isn't too heavy for summer either.

I was surprised by the scent, because I expected something sweeter and more of that Bounty coconut. Instead, it's a true coconut scent that reminds me of fresh coconut that you cracked opened. There's a slight acidic feel to it which reminds me of coconut water that I actually really dislike. But the scent itself is very true to a proper coconut not those fake coconut fragrances that I usually wear on myself.

They have many different scents that you can choose from, like banana, mango, strawberry, shea, British rose, green tea, satsuma and so on.

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder - 01 Light Matte

Their bronzer was on my wishlist for as long as I've had one on Pinterest and I finally checked it off. It got on my radar when I was researching for bronzer for fair skin tones. Those reviews were right, this is great for us paler girls.

Packaging

It comes in honey colored see through plastic packaging with honey comb design that you can see when the light hits it at an angle. Such great attention to details, since the line is called Honey Bronze.

In it is 11 grams of product and it costs 15.50€.

Honey comb design continues on the inside as an embossing. On the inside you'll also find small mirror that can be useful for touch ups, although you won't see the whole face in it.

Colors

01 Light Matte is light warm bronze shade with slight red tint to it. If you think of how you naturally look bronzed when the sun burns your skin, you most likely have a redish tint to it, especially if you have fair or light skin tone. This bronzer imitates that natural sun burn which makes it look very believable and natural in a way. It's definitely very light in shade. You can build it up to look more intense by applying more layers.

In the range you can choose among 6 shades, from pale to medium skin tones. Sara has reviewed shade 02 which seems slightly warmer than 01.

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder 01 Light Matte - the lightest shade of them all. Warm bronze color with red tone to it.
Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer Bronzer - this one is initially warm toned as well, just slightly darker in the shade, but still very light and it has more of a cooler grey tone to it which is why it makes it great for defining features. It's more of a proper warm bronze shade with cool grey undertone.
Misslyn Beach Please! Bronzing & Contouring Powder 51 Holiday Hooray! - this one is the darkest of these all. It's warm toned bronze shade with a slight peach redish tone to it, but it's not as red toned as The Body Shop one.

Formula

They describe it as matte bronzer, that applies evenly, creates natural sunlit look and contains beeswax.

It's a drier type of formula, but still has enough glide to it that it doesn't crumble or look dusty on the face. It feels very silky under the fingers. Pigmentation is good, but it's so light in color that you need to build it up. If you apply a light layer, you get a faint of color, but because I like more opaque bronzers, I usually build it up with few swipes. For example, Physicians Formula bronzer is definitely more pigmented with just one swipe.

Finish is matte, but doesn't look too matte, although I don't notice any particular sheen to it either.

I notice a very slight scent to it, but I can't put my finger on what it smells off. Pleasant, sort of nutty.

Performance

It sticks well to the skin and just slightly fades through the day. I like that it looks so natural. On my NC15 skin tone this is warm enough and very light, but it gives me that natural redish burnt tint to it that makes it looks so believable. I think it would work on cool skin tones as well. Great for fair to light skin

The Body Shop Lip Juicers - Coconut-Carrot-Passion Fruit

Packaging

This is one of their newer products in the range. It's a lip balm in fun coral geometric plastic packaging

In it is 4 grams of product and it costs 7.90€

Formula

It's a moisturizing lip balm with slight tint to it and fruity scent. Lips should feel smooth and soft. The shape of it helps you with easier application on its own or under the lipstick.

Among the ingredients are marula oil, olive oil and shea butter. This product is also 100% vegan.

Formula seems very waxy and harder than the usual drugstore lip balms. It has transparent tint like finish that slightly colors your lips, but is still see through. The more you apply, the darker the tint. I think it looks more pigmented than the usual tinted lip balms

Colors

They have 4 scentsor colors to choose from. Mine is called Coconut-Carrot-Passion Fruit and it's a light warm coral shade

It also has lovely fruity scent to it which smells tropical, more like passion fruit than anything else.

Performance

It's not the most elegant formula, because it feels thicker and heavier on the lips and doesn't seem as moisturizing as I would expect. And that's because it's not as slippery. This will accentuate dry patches and stick to them and it's better if you apply lighter layer than pile it on heavily. I use it more as a stain than a lip balm, because I like the color and it's not particularly nourishing

I have to say I am most satisfied with bronzer and body butter. Bronzer has that natural looking tone to it and I love the fact that it's so light in shade. This will be absolutely perfect in the winter, but also works for me now, I just need to build it up more. The matte finish, silky texture and fairly nice longevity makes it a product I would definitely recommend, especially to all us paler girls.

Body butter has that perfect thicker, yet melting consistency that is a joy to apply, especially if you like nourishing body products like I do. The scent is definitely not as sweet as I expected it to be, but it's very true to proper real life coconut. I am definitely interested in trying some other scents like Mango or Fuji Green Tea. Lip juicer is OK, but I personally wouldn't buy it for me, because I prefer my lip balms to be more nourishing. I love the color and stained look, just the formula could be more nourishing.

What's next on my radar from The Body Shop? One of those products that is still on my wishlist has to be Lightening Shade Adjusting Drops (hear only good things and I always need something to lighten foundations), Seaweed Deep Cleansing Wash Gel (my skin loves anything see inspired), Coco Calming Face Mist (duh! coconut), Coconut Exfoliating Cream Body Scrub and Mango Body Butter or Sorbet.

You can buy The Body Shop products in their online stores or physical storesnear you.

Review: Sally Hansen Color Therapy Nail Polish - 180 Chai on Life

$

0
I have only one Sally Hansen colored nail polish in my collection (sadly, no review of it) and their Insta-Dry Top Coat (which didn't impress me). But their formula is something I liked immediately, because it's a thicker formula that covers nail quickly. Recently, I got two new Sally Hansen nail polishes in my mail box, but one came completely shattered. It broke while transporting, so I can't show you that one, although it was a fun electric purple shade.

Packaging

They come in glass bottles with plastic metallic colored top. It's one of those brands that gives you a huge amount of 14.7 ml of product at the price of 8.99€. You can get them in Slovenian DMs and I think also in Müller. I've also seen them in Austrian DM as well as Bipa.

Brush is wider and a bit rounded at the edges. These kind of brushes give you that quick application with perfect rounded shape around the cuticles.

Formula

Sally Hansen has a few formulas among their ranges. This one is called Color Therapy. It gives your nails color and cares for them with argan oil formula which provides your nails with nourishment and instant moisture for healthy looking nails.

Formula itself is thicker and creamy. It has great pigmentation. You can apply one thicker coat and it almost covers the nail completely. I prefer applying two coats for that perfect opaque look. Finish is creamy. It leaves a bit of shine, but I prefer applying shiny top coat over it anyway.

I had no problems with applying it. It glides smooth over the nail and deposits color evenly

Colors

In the range you can choose among 38 shades. I've counted only 19 shades in our DM. A lot of nudes, pinks, reds and some metallic as well as darker colors.

I received the shade 180 Chai on Life which is one of those perfect warm nude shades for light skin tones. On medium skin this would look much lighter and brighter. It's that perfect beige brown nude with a hint of peachiness to it.

Performance

Sally Hansen promises you 10 days of fade-proof and chip-resistant wear. I naturally have weaker nails, but they have been growing well these days. Average nail polish lasts about 2 to 3 days on me and this one definitely lasted longer, 4 to 5 days without any visible chipping. That is with the top coat on top, because I never wear colored nail polishes on its own.

It needs a bit of time to dry down, but I take care of that by just applying fast drying top coat over it. If you don't, you'll need to let it dry thoroughly, because it's a thicker formula and any dent will be quickly visible.

After you take if off, nails look and feel ok, so there must be some truth to their claims. For true test I would need to use this nail polish for longer period of time to see any real results.

It takes a lot for nude nail polish color to impress me, but I fell in love with this one immediately. I think I've applied it once, took it off, when it didn't look pretty anymore and applied it on again. Which doesn't happen all that often. I've also wore it on my toes and it looks just as pretty. Formula is thicker, but applies evenly and is well pigmented. Wider brush helps you with quick application. With a good top coat it lasts above average on my nails and the color is just perfect for light skin tones. I'm sad I didn't get to try the other formula from them.

Hidden Glam

Cut crease makeup is extremely popular on Instagram these days and I've been seeing it paired with glittery liner outline for that extra pop of glam. Naturally, I wanted to try it for myself, although my eye shape is definitely not made for these kind of looks. I made it to fit my preference and eye shape. It looked so much prettier in real life, because glittery anything just doesn't look as nice on the photos as it does in real life.

I started my eyes by applying a few warmer matte brown shades in the crease. Then I took more chocolate brown and applied it only on the outer corner. On the lid I used high coverage concealer to carve out cut crease. I went above my natural crease, because I have small and fairly deep set eyes. This step you'll need to figure out for yourself on how high up you want to go. I've seen it being really high, but on my eye shape this would look too out of place. I set cut crease with a matte bone colored shadow (so that shadows on top won't grab on it and look patchy) and applied a mix of two highlighting gold and rose gold shades over it.

Then I went back with matte brown colors and diffused the edge at the outer part of the lid. I wanted sparkle to only be in the inner part of the lid. I took shimmery metallic mauve liquid shadow and applied it as a glittery liner with small tip brush to two thirds of my lid. This part looks so much prettier in life, because glitter never translates as nice on the photos. For my winged liner I chose very dark brown color.

I applied lots of mascara and skipped falsies, because otherwise this crease liner would be hidden on my lids. On the lower water line I also applied peach nude pencil to make eyes look more fresh awake. In the inner corner I applied that mix of highlighters that I used on the lid.

Because my eyes are so deep set, I get a hint of that glitter liner when I look up, so it's essentially a hidden glam effect.

On my face I used glowy primer, foundation, concealer and powder. I used very pale bronzer all over and bronze pink shade as a blush to look very natural. I went heavy with my highlighter and applied mix of that champagne and rose gold that I used on the lids.

On my lips I mixed baby pink and light brown liquid lipstick to give me that nice glow as well as color.

I will definitely do this kind of look again, because that hint of sparkly glitter looked so cute. I kept all my shadows very subtle and neutral looking on purpose. Because they all look similar, I don't get any harsh lines that would accentuate my eye shape, which as I said before, is not ideal for making intricate sharp eye looks. This kind of look would be nice to edge up your daily makeup for when you have a special occasion, as it still looks very soft.

My Avon Box From Nude to Glamour

$

Beauty boxes have been on the scene for a while. However, not at Avon, at least not until now. So far, I know for two beauty boxes and I'm showing you what's inside the first one. It comes in this pretty square paper box with a black and peach design. In it you get 6 full size products. With it you also get instructions on what's inside and how to use it to create three different looks from day appropriate to an evening look.

These are new eyeshadow quads by Avon and I've actually already reviewed it here. Art of the Nudes is warm toned nude palette. It's one of those everyday selection of shades that are sheerer and will look good on most eye colors. Understated and great for those that are afraid of too much color on the eyes. I only miss some matte shades in this palette which would act as transition shades in the crease.

In it is 5 grams of product and regular price is 13€.

Avon Mark The Big Graphic Longwear Liquid Liner - Black

I've actually had this liner before it was re-marketed under Mark range and didn't like it. I'm very particular with my liquid liners and this has to be one of the worst I have tried so far.

Packaging

It comes in plastic pen packaging with white top. Sponge applicator is cut at an angle and looks like one of those markers. I don't like this shape personally, but to each his own. In it is 1 ml of product and the regular price is 6.50€.

Formula

Formula is the reason why I dislike it so much. Applicator is not saturated enough and once you go over an eyeshadow, you can't even draw one straight line without the tip getting dry and unsaturated. It's a night mare to apply. Something went very wrong with formula here. In general it's a drier formula, so once you go over the line twice, you're actually taking it off instead of putting on more.

Pigmentation is poor, you would need to go over the line a few times to make it opaque. It has black color, but doesn't go on nearly as nice as it swatches.

Angled applicator gives you two options, to draw wider or thinner lines. If you apply it at an angle you might get nice winged liner without too much effort, if you know what you're doing and how to angle it.

Performance

If you get it in touch with water or sweat a lot, it will move and smudge. It's definitely not one of those long lasting liners.

Avon Mark SpectraLash Mascara - Black

In my drawer of unopened makeup products, you'll find about 5 Avon mascaras. All of those that I've tried so far from them, have been OK, but nothing special. Hence why I don't really have a lot of reviews of them on my blog. But this one was a lovely exception.

Packaging

It comes in a plastic black and white packaging. In it is 9 ml of product and the regular price is 12.90€.

It has that regular bushy natural looking wand that usually gives you a nice amount of volume, but this one also combs lashes fairly well.

Formula

On the contrary to most Avon mascaras that I've tried so far, this one has a slightly wetter creamy formula. It's not too wet that it would clump your lashes, but it's not as dry as for example most waterproof formulas.

Pigmentation is good and the color is actually nicely black.

Performance

On the bottom of mascara you have white button with which you can adjust how much volume you would like. Essentially, number 1 gives you the least amount of product on the wand, while number 3 gives you a lot more product on the wand. I've applied 1 first, went over with 2 and tried 3 on top of both of these. As you can see, the final result is quite volumizing, but doesn't look clumpy either.

It reminds me a bit of L'Oreal Paradise Extatic Mascara, but that one feels drier and looks just a bit less clumpy. I think you'll like this one, if you like volume and fairly nice separation. It makes the lasheslook slightly longer as well. I would go in with two coats maximum, otherwise it can start looking clumpy and the clumps will fall down.

It lasts fairly well on the lashes, there is just a few small dots of fallout, if I apply a lot, but it doesn't smudge. It also holds the curl very nice and it's easy to remove

I have a review of all of their Epic Lip lipsticks, so I won't go into details. These have pigmented formula that has build in primer. It feels super comfortable on the lip and gives you great color payoff with a bit of sheen. It's basically one of the best regular creamy lipstick formulas that I own.

In each lipstick is 3.6 grams of product and the regular price is 8.50€.

Avon Mark Epic Lip Transformer Lipstick - Guilty Pleasure

Avon added three lip transformers in their Epic Lip range which you should essentially use as toppers on top of regular lipstick or you could just wear them on their own as well.

Packaging

It comes in a black and white design like their other Epic Lips in plastic packaging. Transformers have a half and half top packaging. One half is white with black writing and the other half is black with white writing.

In it is 3.6 grams of product and the regular price is 8.50€.

Formula

It has that regular creamy Epic Lip formula, but the pigmentation is a bit sheerer. It's meant to be used as a topper, so it has to be sheerer to let the color underneath show through.

Colors

They have three colors. One is holographic, another is sparkly pink and Guilty Pleasure is shimmery yellow gold. I think it might be a bit too yellow, but it all depends on which color you use it over. It looks best applied over darker colors, while on nudes it won't have much of an effect. It gives you that slightly metallic sheen.

Performance

I've tried it on its own and it seems like it's just slightly more waxy than regular Epic Lip and it might feel just a bit drier (probably due to metallic pigment in it), but it's still comfortable to wear. I just don't find the effect to be that visible and I personally am not too keen on metallic finishes on the lips.

Guilty Pleasure applied over Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte Lipstick in Berry Blast

Art of the Nudes palette - shade 3, Avon Mark Liner, Avon SpectraLash Mascara and Avon Mark Epic Lip in Blushing Beauty

Avon Mark Gel Shine Nail Enamel - Cosmic Flush

I love Avon's regular Gel Shine formula and color selection. They've now added 6 new shades that should give you mermaid vibes as well as 6 chrome shades.

Packaging

These have glass square bottle with white plastic top. In each is 10 ml of product and the regular price is 6.50€

Brush is thinner and longer, straight cut and it applies nail polish fine.

Formula

It's a more liquid gel formula that is sheerer than regular Gel Shine formula. You will need at least two coats to cover the nail well. I usually start with one thinner coat and then go in with a thicker second coat. You can wear it without top coat and it has nice shine to it, but I always apply top coat over it anyway.

Colors

Cosmic Flush is medium pink with multi colored small shimmer. It's from that mermaids vibe range. Under the sun it actually reflects something that looks like holo, but it looks warmer. The effect is really pretty and even though I'm not much for pink nail polish, I love these multi colored shimmers in it and the holo effect.

Performance

It applies evenly and it lasts well on my nails - 4 to 5 days. Longer than the usual, but most Avon nail polishes last well on my nails anyway. Shimmer in it is small enough that is easy to remove

My favorite products from this beauty box are Blushing Beauty lipstick, SpectraLash Mascara and Cosmic Flush nail polish. All of these perform really nice and I love the shades as well. Transformer in Guilty Pleasure is nice too, but I'm not big on metallic looking lips. Art of the Nudes palette is great for someone who likes more understated colors. Formula is sheerer, but it gives you that effortless daily look. The only product in here that I really dislike is their liquid liner. Avon has so many better eye pencils that I would prefer over this one. It just doesn't perform.

This beauty box is on sale in Avon (Slovenia) for 24.90€. Total value of the box is 55.90€, so if you like most of these products, I'd say it's worth getting it. Avon will also have one beauty box in their next catalog and I have that one already, so stay tuned for that review.

Review: Essence Fresh & Fit Awake Primer

I've been hearing about Essence Fresh & Fit Awake Primer Healthy Glow Pore Minimizing Effect a lot, especially in relation to one of the Charlotte Tilbury products and since Essence is an affordable drugstore brand, plus my primer collection is fairly limited, I decided to give it a try. Boy, this is definitely one of those great surprises from the drugstore.

Packaging

It comes in pastel peach plastic squeeze tube. Opening has a little hole through which you can control the amount of product. In it is 30 ml of product and it costs 3.79€.

Essence says that it has ultra-smooth texture with wake-up effect. It gives your skin healthy glow and visibly minimizes pores for an even skin tone. They also claim it contains complex of vitamin B3, E, provitamin B5 and cranberry water. It can be used alone or under foundation.

Formula

I hear this is being described as a dupe for Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow Instant Soft Focus Beauty Flash. You can see swatches of both here. They sure look very similar.

Primer has a thicker creamy lotion texture that is firm, but blends out with ease. It has that glide to it that makes it apply smooth on the skin (I notice silicon in the formula as well). It absorbs fairly quick and doesn't feel sticky, just a bit dewy to the touch.

Formula contains very fine shimmer which gives it that pearliness. It makes the skin look glowy, but without any obvious shimmer, just a healthy sheen. Finish is very much skin like, but with a pearly transparent sheen and glow. It truly looks like you're glowing from within and it catches light so beautifully, yet looks like part of the skin.

Color

It comes out as a pale peach pearly color and once you blend it out, it gives you more of that pearly sheen with a slightly cooler silver glow. I think the peach base is perfect for light to medium skin tones, as ti gives you that natural color to cooler sheen, so it makes it look more skin like and not frosty.

Left: only my skin care, Right: Essence primer on top of the skin care, all over the face

Essence primer with foundation on top

Performance

This can definitely be worn on its own as a very natural looking dewy part-of-the-skin highlight. If you have even skin tone, you can apply this on the high points of the face and you're good to go. Or just wear it on its own for those no makeup days, but with added healthy sheen.

I also use it under foundation as a primer. It made my skin look plumper and hydrated. It's not a skin care product, so don't expect miracles, but it definitely makes your skin look better. The glow doesn't show through high coverage foundations, but it should show through a more thinner consistency foundations or BB creams. Foundation sticks to it good and it makes it last well through the day. I also like mixing it in with foundation to give it a bit of that glow, especially if something is too matte looking.

As far as the pore minimizing claim goes, anything that has a sheen to it, will not blur your pores and this one doesn't either. For blurring out my pores I much prefer typical silicon matte primer which also controls sebum production around those areas. If you have a lot of texture on your skin, I would avoid this.

It has a floral sweet scent which is actually pleasant and fairly subtle.

Usually drugstore products lack refinement when it comes to skin like formulas, but not this one. This really looks like it's part of your skin. It gives your that glow, but without any visible shimmer or opaque base that would give it away as being too fake. It has light peachy base which fits well on light to medium skin tones. Under foundation it wears well, but will not be for those that have a lot of texture or huge pores. For those areas I recommend a more traditional pore blurring matte primer. This is also great worn on its own. For the price, you get a really nice product that could easily be mistaken for something more high end. If you like how this sounds, I'd say - get it, since you never know with Essence when they might discontinue something from their range.

June 2018 Favorites

I feel like I have been testing mostly new products this month, so those made it to my favorites. My makeup was either more colorful or very basic. There have also been some new products in the body care range that have impressed me enough to talk about them in this month's favorites.

Catrice Prime And Fine Smoothing Refiner For Invisible Pores And Lines

This is one of those typical silicon primers that is super smooth to the touch and fills in your pores. My pores around the nose area are quite large and I feel like they look larger in summer with all the sweat and excess sebum. Catrice primer really helps to create smoother base and fill in pores so that they don't stand out as much. I've been seeing this primer going around and everyone seems to like it. But apparently Catrice has decided to discontinue it. Why?! I don't understand. Maybe they'll just repackage it in a tube version which I saw is coming to their stand now.

Finding light shades of bronzer that fits warm skin tones is a challenge. 01 Light Matte is that perfect warm matte bronze shade with a hint of redish tint to it to give you that natural looking sun kissed skin. I like all matte formula, because it looks more believable and the shade is just perfect. Light dusting of this all around my face gives me some color and shape. It also has the cutest packaging ever.

I was always avoiding putting eye pencils or kohls in the water line. Partly because I have dry eyes and partly because most of them just didn't feel comfortable. This one from L.O.V. has that perfect skin like nude shade with a bit of peachiness and the formula is so soft that it actually feels comfortable to wear. It instantly gives your eyes that fresh and wide awake look. I've been using it a lot this month. Plus the pencil is bigger than the usual in drugstores, so you get more product.

Surprisingly, this is one of those single eyeshadows that is constantly in my rotation these days. I would have never thought that this would get so much use out of it. But it does. It's that perfect yellowish almost a bit mustard warm light brown. I adore warm eyeshadows and this one just seems to have one of those unique yellow muddy undertones to it that makes any combination of eyeshadows on the lid warmer. This is my to go crease shade for whenever I want something warmer in the crease as a transition shade. Formula is also very pigmented and blends nicely.

Dermalux Lash Serum

I won this in Nina's giveaway. Usually, I'm very hesitant to try out eyelash serums. Mostly because they are expensive and I don't believe they work and also because if they actually work, I'll get hooked on them and will have to spend more money to maintain that gorgeousness. This might just happen now, because I see this working. You also get a measuring system with which you can measure the results and I'll do a separate full review of it. I hoped for more lashes, but I think it mostly just made mine longer. They suddenly seem bushier and once I curl them, they almost touch my brows since I do have slightly hooded eye shape. I'm positively surprised by the results.

Balea Icy Berry Body Peeling

Oh the smell of this! It smells exactly like Softies Raspberry flavor. Whenever I open or use this, I'm tempted to lick it. It's a fairly rough almost sugar like body scrub that also has some added oil which makes my skin ultra smooth and nourished after I wash it off. I can skip moisturizer after using this and that is one of the main reasons why I love it so much. Unfortunately, it comes in this tiny pot that I have to use sparingly. Balea you need to make this bigger. I believe it's a limited edition product and I'm not sure for how long it will be in DM.

I finally get the hype around these body butters. The formula is so nice to use as it melts under your fingers, but is otherwise in a solid texture. The scent is of that true coconut with fresh acidic coconut water to it and could be a bit sweeter for my taste, but it wear so nice. This sticks to your skin and will be there until you wash it off. It's one of those perfect products for colder months, because it acts as a protective as well as nourishing layer.

Nivea Magic Pearl Anti-Transpirant Soft Silk

I've mostly been using roll on antiperspirants, but those leave my armpits wet and it's a problem when you have to get dressed quickly. Right when I decided to try one of those spray versions, Nivea sent me this one. I always avoided spray version because of the alcohol, which this one doesn't have. I've also tried Balea spray deodorants, but those just don't seem as powerful in preventing the sweat. This one by Nivea keeps my armpits drier for longer (although it can't block everything when it's really hot) and the most important thing, it makes me smell nice. Magic Pearl is one of those typical Nivea deodorant scents, slightly floral and almost a bit powdery. It's been working great so far.

I'm getting excited over a nude nail polish, who would have thought. I always preferred more colorful nail polish choices, but this one grew to me. It's the most perfect nude for my skin tone, because it has warm peach undertone to it, yet it's that basic creamy beige color. It looks so lovely either on hand nails or toe nails. Formula is thicker and creamy. It applies nicely plus I love their slightly wider brush for quick and neat application.

Review: Hemptouch konopljina mazila

Hladno stiskano konopljino olje vsebuje veliko antioksidantov, ceramide in maščobne kisline. Konopljino olje pridelujejo kar sami.

Tekstura

Ob redni uporabi (ko sem doma in si ju mažem na nekaj ur), koža izgleda lepše in mazilo ščiti pred zunanjimi dražečimi faktorji.
