September flew by like crazy. Days are getting shorter and I am starting to feel cold all the time again. Summer has quickly turned into fall. This months I actually didn't experiment much with makeup. Here are just some products that I reached for over and over again.

Nivea Soothing Oil Face & Eyes With Natural Grape Seed Oil Sensitive Skin

I mentioned in new in that I don't think this is my new favorite cleansing oil, but I've grown to love it. It's very liquid, but feels more oily than some other oils I have tried which is actually a good thing for removing makeup, because you need less of it to break down makeup. More oily feel is especially nice for colder months when you want something heavier. However, it leaves layer of oil behind even when you cleanse it off and it becomes milky. I go in with a second cleanse anyway so it doesn't bother me that much. I like that it has no scent and isn't irritating on the eyes.

SVR Cicavit+ Creme

I've repurchased a bigger tube since I have tried several small ones. This is my go to for whenever my skin is acting up with atopic dermatitis and I have red dry patches that itch. Inevitably, there are some scars from scratching and I feel like this one speeds up healing process. It's not fragranced and doesn't irritate my skin.

Catrice Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer 020 Light Beige

Cult favorite that I always go back to. I use my "darker" color still, because I still have some tan. This is good medium coverage concealer which isn't drying and doesn't look cakey. It's been my staple ever since it came out and I hope Catrice never discontinues it. This one works great on more mature skin as well as it's more hydrating than other good coverage concealer and it doesn't catch into fine lines.

Catrice Glow & Care Primer

Unfortunately, this primer is discontinued and I got it when it was on sale. I don't use it as primer rather as a highlighter or to mix in with matte foundations and give them more sheen. It's perfect natural highlighter for no makeup days when you just want a bit of that sheen. Shimmer in it is fine and the color is somewhat of a peachy champagne which actually blends into nothing, but leaves behind natural looking champagne sheen. I don't like the scent, because it smells like plastic to me.

Avon 2 in One Cushion Cloud Cream Lip & Cheek Colour Sugar And Spice

Cream products are really growing on me, especially for those natural makeup days when you don't want to look like you've tried. This is the perfect muted mauve shade that will fit so many skin tones. It's a thicker cream like consistency which blends into skin effortlessly and leaves matte finish on the skin. Color looks so natural and the fact that it's a cream it blend into the skin without leaving additional layer on top. I really like this blush.

NYX Epic Ink Liner Black

I think this is now my favorite liquid liner. Reason being it has brush applicator with fine tip and it's always very saturated. I noticed that it can be a bit runny, if you store it upside down, so you could probably store it laying down as well. It sets quickly and once it does, it doesn't budge at all. This stays on for the whole day and doesn't transfer which is all I ask from it apart from precise application.

Catrice Brow Definer Brush Pen Longlasting 040 Ash Brown

Catrice revamped their range again and in the new line up is this brow brush pen. I believe this is the closest and cheapest I'll get to the popular Glossier Brow Flick. It has brush applicator which comes to a fine point and if you have light touch you can create very thin hair like strokes. There is a learning curve with this kind of product, because you have to apply very little pressure to draw believable hair like strokes. Color is medium brown, but it's still a bit warmer than my natural brows which are very grey toned. If you have descent brow this helps you to draw in brows where you have bold parts and you can create that very fast and it looks quite natural.

Avon Creme Legend Lipstick Iconic

When did I not like Avon lipstick?! Their lipstick formulas are just always on point and in my opinion lipsticks are their best makeup products in general. They just came out with new formula called Creme Legend which is basically a creamy lipstick with very good pigmentation and a build in hydrating primer. It's your perfect everyday formula that wears so comfortably. Currently they offer only 10 shades, half of those are nude and half reds. I am actually impressed with nude selection, because usually Avon only offers two to three nudes, but here are five to choose from. I got Iconic which is medium brown mauve and it's one of those nudes that will suit many skin tones. I can see this being the most popular option. It goes with pretty much any makeup look.

Chestnuts

Falls is probably my favorite season right after summer. It has the best colors. If my clothes would be a season, it would be fall. There is just something about crisp air, leather jacket, cozy sucks and chestnuts. Fall isn't a fall for me, if I don't eat chestnuts. I already had one batch this year and I'm just about to go make some right now. My parents also have a vineyard and we already picked all the grapes this week. It's another fun seasonal chore.

Calluna Vulgaris

This year I've started to garden quite a lot, because we moved to out own house and I've sort of fallen in love with plants. Apart from my garden, which was pretty successful this year, I've also gotten into decorative plants or flowers. I am trying to reproduce roses as well as having a few bushes of hydrangeas. I am also adding new plants into pots little by little like this calluna vulgaris. I just think this bright green plant with metal pot and brown leather hooks it's a vibe. It was also super cheap. I got it in Lidl. Sometimes it's all about the small things that make you happy.

Review: Bronx Colors - Eye Products

$

Continuing my review of Bronx Colors, here are all the eye products I got the chance to try out. There is a bit of everything from brushes to mascara.

Eyebrow Pen & Smooth Brush - Auburn

Packaging

It has black plastic packaging. On one side you have slanted triangular shape of pen which you don't need to sharpen. On the other side there is a brush which looks like a soft toothbrush in oval shape with which you can brush through your brows. I still prefer regular spoolie when using eyebrow pens.

In it is 0.25 grams of product and it costs 10.99€.

Formula

It's a soft creamy formula which has very good pigmentation. You really don't need to go over one line. It's that sort of product that you apply and blend out wit a brush for a soft haze of color all over your brows. It's not super precise where you could draw individual hairs.

Colors

You can choose among 6 shades. Auburn is the second lightest and for me a bit too warm. It's medium brown with redish undertone. In the bullet it looks grey toned, but on my skin tone it turns warm redish. I prefer cooler tones to match my natural brows, but this would be a good color for those with copper or red hair.

Performance

I didn't have any problem with how this wore. It stayed on for the whole day and there was no smudging.

3 in 1 Full Body High Volume Mascara

Packaging

It comes in a signature yellow plastic packaging with some fun New York design on it. Natural bristled brush has wavy shape to it and the bristles are sparse.

In it is 12 ml of product and it costs 9.99€.

Formula

It's regular formula which means not too dry nor wet. I find it to be fairly thin so you really need to build it up, if you want to achieve more volume.

Colors

It comes only in black color.

Performance

One coat made my lashes longer and darker looking. You loose definition as you're building it up, but don't gain any significant volume. It's definitely lengthening mascara. I prefer something with more volume. There was no smudging or flaking. The curl was also still there.

Urban Line Beauty Stamp & Eyeliner - Heart

Packaging

Another yellow packaging paired with black. On one side you have felt tip eyeliner and on the other side you have heart shaped stamp. Felt tip is stiff, but has a nice point to it so it's easy to apply.

In it is 1.4 grams of product and it costs 11.50€.

Formula

It has classic liquid formula which doesn't run all over the place and has intense black color from the start so you don't need to build it up.

Colors

It comes only in black, but you can choose among three stamp designs - heart, star and Bronx Logo.

Performance

It applies smooth, but dries fast and can look crunchy, if you go over the line a lot. Which means it can also start to flake off, if you overdo it. Otherwise it stayed on my lids for the whole day and there was no smudging or transferring. It just doesn't look as smooth on the lids and felt tip is a bit stiff for my liking as I prefer brush tips.

Stamp side is cute as well. I wouldn't necessary wear it on my eyes, but it would be a fun product to use for any festivals. It stamps evenly, but blends just a little.

Single Slide Blush Body

This is small black compact with transparent lid in which you can place two single eyeshadows or blush from Bronx Colors. I actually quite like this as it's so compact and great to travel with.

It costs around 5€.

Single Slide Shadow and Baked Shadow - Venus and Amethyst

Packaging

These come in pans which you can then slide in their compact or any empty magnetic eyeshadow palette, which I really like. Customization is always useful.

In each is 2 grams of product and single slide shadows cost 3.99€ and baked version costs 4.99€.

Formula

Both eyeshadows have slightly wet to the touch formula. Pigmentation is very good

Colors

I can't find single slide shadows online anymore, but I know there are plenty of shades to choose from. There is also 12 baked eyeshadows you can choose from.

Venus is baked formula and has a mix of several pigments in a marbled design. It's perfect shimmery medium warm bronze shade which leans a bit on copper red side. I really like this color for just an easy all over the lid look.

Amethyst is regular single shadow formula. It's shimmery medium purple with cool blue sheen on top. Purples are hard to make, but this one is very pigmented. I really like these kind of pops of colors. This is a unique color in my collection. It may not be for everybody, because it's quite a statement.

Performance

With eyeshadow primer these wear like any other shades - stay on for the whole day without fading noticeably. They both blended out lovely and applied smooth as well.

Magnetic Urban Brush - Blending Brush

Packaging

It's a yellow black plastic design brush. It has small tapered tip which looks like a smudging brush to me, but they named it blending brush. Bristles are soft, but densely packed. Bottom has magnet in it which means you can put it on top of any magnetic surfaces and it will stand. Bronx Colors also sells magnetic plate which you can use to store all your brushes on top of.

It costs 6.99€.

Brushes

You can choose among 13 magnetic brushes, some are for the face and some for eyes and lips.

Performance

I use this for my bottom lash line or to smudge anything out, because it's so dense, but still soft. It picks up color good and smudged it out well. I wouldn't use this for blending though, it's too small and too dense.

Eyeshadow Palette Australia

I also received this eyeshadow palette called Australia, but I didn't test it, because I have so many similar colors in my other eyeshadow palettes that I know I won't use this one. Instead I might give it away to someone that actually will use it.

In it is 12 grams of product and it costs 16.99€.

Out of all eye products I tried single shadows are definitely my favorite. Baked formula is so unique, because it mixes several pigments and creates gorgeous shimmery sheen on the lids. Amethyst is another very unique shade and they both have great pigmentation and blendability. I would definitely get more of these, if there are shades that I miss in my collection.

With brow pencil I prefer something more precise and the color wasn't up to my liking. Eyeliner isn't bad, but just feels a bit marker like. It doesn't have super smooth tip and can look crunchy so you can't really build it up slowly. But the color is intense black and it wears good too. Mascara is definitely a no no for me, because there just isn't enough volume for my liking. If you want something solely lengthening, it might be ok. Brush is nice as well, I have nothing bad to say about it.

Review: Bronx Colors - Lip Products

$

Here is the last part of Bronx Colors reviews and it's about two of their lip products. Matte Lip Tint and The Legendary N°2 Lipstick. One was love at first try and the other one complete opposite.

Matte Lip Tint - Naked

Packaging

It comes in matte black packaging and the bottom is transparent so you see the shade inside. It has doe foot applicator which holds enough product for one application and is pretty precise.

In it is 5 ml of product and it costs 7.99€.

Formula

It's very liquid formula which has great pigmentation. One swipe is more than enough. You can even wipe applicator down for a more sheerer application that doesn't look as thick.

Colors

There are 18 shades available - some nudes, pinks, purples and reds. Naked is pale cool pinkish nude. It has sort of a lavender cool tint to it. It's so light that it makes me look dead, sort of like those concealer lip shades that were so popular back in the days.

Performance

It dries down in few seconds to a complete matte finish which feels drying and looks quite obvious, but that maybe because of this light shade. It feels heavy on the lips and is definitely transfer proof. I put this in one of those cement like matte lip formulas, which I dislike, as they are not comfortable to wear despite surviving almost anything.

The Legendary N°2 Lipstick - Nutmeg

Packaging

It has metal black packaging which is sleek, long as feels quite expensive. You need to twist the bottom to pull out the lipstick. Bullet is oval and thin so it's very easy to apply lipstick precisely.  There is no need for lip liner.

In it is 2.2 grams of product and it costs 9.99€.

Formula

It's a very creamy formula which just glides on the lips with such ease. It's got that creme finish with a bit of sheen. Pigmentation is very nice. You don't need to keep going over the lips.

There is so sweet vanilla like fragrance to it.

Colors

There are 8 shades available. Nutmeg looks like the most wearable shade out of all of them.

Nutmeg is light to medium muted coral pink which has a mix of some peach, pink as well as some dirty brown tone to it. It's the perfect everyday shade with just a hint of color to brighten up complexion. I love it.

Performance

This feels so comfortable on the lips. It applies like a dream and doesn't emphasizes dry patches. It feels soothing on the lips. As it dries down it becomes less shiny. It's creamy, so not transfer proof, but doesn't bleed and stays on well. If you blot it down, it's more of a satin finish.

The Legendary lipstick is my favorite product out of all Bronx Colors products I have tried out. It's so comfortable to wear and the shade is also lovely for every makeup look. Their Matte Tint is my nightmare lip formula as it's so drying, but I know some will love cement lips, because it means it doesn't move. The shade is too light even for me and the cool undertone clashes with my warmth.

Review: Viseart Paris Edit Eyeshadow Palette

$

After purchasing Warm Edit palette by Viseart, I knew I would want to get more. Luckily, Paris Edit was also on sale and I though this shade selection was perfect to add to my collection. It's a very romantic colored palette with which you can create variety of colorful or more muted looks.

Packaging

It comes in a pink cardboard packaging. There is a small ribbon attached to it which makes it easier to open up. It has magnetic closing and small mirror inside. I would prefer one fold palette, because it folds three times and you can sometimes scratch pans with the third wing.

Pans can be taken out and placed into empty magnetic palette. That is a big plus as well as downfall of their packaging. I love that I can transfer these into my own empty palette, but it also means pans can fall out, because they're not glued in which means broken eyeshadows. Like it happened to me.

In it is 12 grams of product and it costs 33€. I got it for 28.35€ on Beauty Bay when it was on sale.

Formula

Matte shades are drier than shimmery ones. Some shimmery shades are very creamy and they transfer foiled looking on the lid. In general pigmentation is good, but I've written which are drier or wetter next to each shade description.

I have to point out these eyeshadows are lightly pressed which means they have good color payoff, but also crack easily. Palette dropped down from my shelve and most of the shades turned into dust. I lost half of pans of some of these just a few days after purchasing it. You can imagine how mad I was at myself. Pans can be taken out, so they all dropped out.

Colors

It's a romantic pink and mauve toned palette. Most of the shades are pretty neutral toned, but there are also some warm and cooler tones. In general this is a very wearable palette which would suit many different eye colors and skin tones. It was inspired by the most romantic city in the world - Paris. It would make a great bridal palette

Petale - matte neutral pastel dusty pink
Champs-Elysees - shimmery light white gold - very light white base with yellow gold shimmer on top (dry texture)
Creme Brulee - matte medium neutral caramel brown
Fleur - matte medium neutral dirty mauve
Opera - metallic/foiled medium neutral pink with cool silver glitter (wet texture, amazing pigmentation)
Beaux-Arts - shimmery medium warm copper bronze with good amount of gold sheen (wet texture, amazing pigmentation)
Tulle - matte medium neutral salmon pink (the most dusty and least pigmented)
Cerise - matte dark neutral redish brown with silver specks of glitter
St. Germain - shimmery cool charcoal grey with denim blue undertone, sheeny (wet texture, amazing pigmentation)
Marais - shimmery medium warm brick bronze, sheeny (wet texture, amazing pigmentation)
Pirouette - metallic/foiled medium warm copper bronze with silver shimmery sheen (wet texture, amazing pigmentation)
Tuileries - satin dark neutral purple with berry pink sheen (wet texture, amazing pigmentation)

My favorite shades are Creme Brulee (one of those rare neutral camel browns), Fleur (perfect mauve for fall), Cerise (such a lovely alternative to black as liner), St. Germain (party shade, because it looks dimensional and has nice sheen) and Pirouette (foiled copper shade perfect for all over the lid as a shiny statement).

Performance

I always use eyeshadow primer underneath any eyeshadows and those wear all day without creasing. They are long lasting and don't fade much. They blend out with no problems.

I was so disappointed with the fact that I broke most of these eyeshadows and lost so much product. They are very delicate, but the quality is there. Pigmentation is good, they blend like a dream and the price isn't as bad when you calculate how much product you get compared to some other high end brands. Paris Edit is a very romantic color scheme. You'll like it if you love pinks, mauves, coppers and neutrals to pair them with. I might get some more palettes from Viseart in the future, but right now no color scheme speaks to me. I sort of wish for one with more cooler neutral tones which I'm missing in my collection.

Review: Avon Creme Legend Lipstick - Iconic

$
0
0
I am almost always impressed with Avon lipsticks. Every new range that they come out with, is usually a success in my book, especially if I like the general description of formula. Creme Legend is their newest range of lipsticks with creme finish and build in primer. It's your best bet for everyday creamy comfortable lipstick.

Packaging

This packaging is the same as the first ever lipstick I bought from Avon, except that one was silver. It's gold geometric packaging with sleek design. Bullet has tear shape on the top which should mimic makeup brushes to make application as easy as possible and it works.

In it is 3.6 grams of product and it usually costs 4.90€.

Formula

It's creamy formula which goes on in one swipe and leaves good payoff of color. Pigmentation is very nice. It's one of those lightweight formulas. Finish is creme with a bit of a sheen which tends to fade, if you have very dry lips.

Lipstick has that signature sweet fruity Avon scent

Colors

You can choose among 11 colors and it's the usual roundup of some nudes, reds, pinks and mauves. I took a closer look of three nudes and based on online swatches decided that Iconic will suit my taste the most, though Adore seemed nice to.

Iconic is light to medium dirty mauve with brownish tone to it. It's one of those shades that will suit most skin tones.

Comparison

Avon Creme Legend Iconic - light to medium dirty mauve with brownish tone
Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor Forever - the most similar to Iconic, just slightly more brown toned mauve
Avon True Supreme Nourishing Lipstick Nurturing Nude - lighter and warmer brownish pink mauve
Avon Plump It Lipstick Choco Latte - darker chocolate brown with mauve tone to it
Avon True Perfectly Matte Lipstick Nude Suede - also similar to Iconic, but more pink tone

Performance

It's one of those lightweight modern lipstick formulas which fees very comfortable and soothing on the lips. It glides over any dry patches and sticks to the lips well. Because it's creme finish it won't be transfer proof and you need to touch it up after a meal, but that doesn't bother me at all. I prefer comfort over staying power any day.

I absolutely adore when Avon does these creamy lipsticks, because they always feel so comfortable on the lips, have good color payoff and are in general lightweight. I just wish their range would include more nudes. After all, those are the ones that sell the best. Creme Legend is another formula that I love to wear and Iconic is one of those wearable nudes that goes with every makeup look. I love it. I may get Adore as well.

Review: SVR Laboratoire Dermatologique - Liftiane Creme, Sun Secure Fluide SPF50+ and Xerial 30 Creme

SVR is a french dermocosmetics laboratory which understands sensitive skin and how problems with skin can affect your emotions and well-being. I, as a person with skin problems my whole life, can completely relate to that. Brand was created by Simone and Robert Veret. They believed that dermatology makes you more beautiful. SVR offers products to accompany you every day to help you feel good about yourself.

I first came upon their products when researching for good eczema daily creams without mineral oils and found their SVR Topialyse Baume Intensif which is for eczema prone, very sensitive and itchy skin. I used two or three of these tubes before using my current A-Derma Exomega cream. It was such a nicely moisturizing and nourishing cream that smelled subtly of coconut which was part of the reason I liked it so much. But it was very gentle and non-irritating.

I also purchased their Topialyse Bume en Spray which I didn't like as much as my Bioderma Atoderm SOS Spray. Another favorite from them, that I still use and have already used about 5 tubes of, is their Cicavit+ Creme which is such a good nourishing and repairing cream for either scratches, dry skin or blemishes. I use it on my eczema hands as well as blemishes to help them heal faster.

I got the chance to try out more of their skin care products and I was really excited for that. It's those pharmaceutical brands that I don't experiment much with, because their prices are higher and you can't really get testers to try before committing to buy. I've been testing three full size products of theirs as well as some other products that I got testers of.

SVR Liftiane Creme

Packaging

It comes in white plastic tube with silver details. Opening is very small so there is no need to waste product. In it is 40 ml of product and it cost around 31€.

Formula

Liftiane cream should visibly plump out wrinkles and firm the skin. They promise smoother and more radiant skin in just one week.

Liftiane combines two powerful anti-aging ingredients in very high concentrations. Those are resveratrol and hyaluronic acid. Resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant to help combat free radicals and it activates sirtuins - proteins that boost cell longevity - for an overall anti-aging effect. There are two hyalurnic acids, one high molecular weight for an instant micro-plumping action and one medium molecular weight for a long lasting regenerating effect.

It is recommended for sensitive, normal to combination skin and can be used on face and neck. There is also a rich version available of this cream for a more drier skin.

INGREDIENTS: AQUA (PURIFIED WATER), COCOGLYCERIDES, PROPANEDIOL, DICAPRYLYL CARBONATE, DIMETHICONE, ALUMINA, GLYCERIN, POLYMETHYL METHACRYLATE, C12-16 ALCOHOLS, C10-18 TRIGLYCERIDES, DIPALMITOYL HYDROXYPROLINE, GLYCERYL STEARATE CITRATE, BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA) BUTTER, DIETHYLHEXYL SYRINGYLIDENEMALONATE, HYDROLYZED HYALURONIC ACID, RESVERATROL, SACCHARIDE ISOMERATE, SODIUM HYALURONATE, TOCOPHEROL, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, AMMONIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYLTAURATE/VP COPOLYMER, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, CAPRYLYL METHICONE, CITRIC ACID, HYDROGENATED LECITHIN, HYDROXYETHYL ACRYLATE/SODIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYL TAURATE COPOLYMER, PALMITIC ACID, PEG-12 DIMETHICONE/PPG-20 CROSSPOLYMER, PEG-40 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL, PENTYLENE GLYCOL, POLYSORBATE 60, PPG-26-BUTETH-26, SODIUM CITRATE, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, SORBITAN ISOSTEARATE, PARFUM (FRAGRANCE)

It's light white gel cream with great spreadability, it has good slip to it. You need very little of it to cover the whole face. It leaves a bit of diffused sheen on the skin and just a slight tacky layer which turns more velvet in time and works good as a makeup base.

It has subtle powdery floral scent.

Performance

I find it great for normal to combination skin, because it leaves a slight healthy looking sheen on the skin which turns velvet in time, but it feels lightweight enough. It moisturizes the skin well, nourishes it a bit, but also makes it plumper looking. This worked for me in the summer and it works for me now when it's colder, I just use serums underneath to add to the moisture level.

I have almost used it up and my skin agreed with it. I didn't see major anti-aging effects apart from my skin looking well moisturized, plump and clear. Fragrance in it doesn't bother me, because skin on my face isn't as sensitive as on my other parts of the body, but it's something to consider, if you have easily irritated skin.

SVR Sun Secure Fluide SPF50+

Packaging

It comes in orange colored tube with the same small opening as the Liftiane Creme which is great for dosing the product as you can really control the amount. In it is 50 ml of product and it costs around 13€.

Formula

This is high protection SPF in a fluid with a dry feel. They say lightweight texture is suited for normal and combination skin. It penetrates instantly, leaving skin matt, non-greasy and non-sticky. It has summery scent and is resistant to water, sweat and towel-drying

It offers wide range of UVB and UVA protection. It also repairs cellular damage caused by sun exposure thanks to niacinamide.

It's sunscreen with chemical filters.

LAB 15.28/G. 09-INGREDIENTS (CONTAINS): AQUA (PURIFIED WATER), DIISOPROPYL ADIPATE, ETHYLHEXYL METHOXYCINNAMATE, DIETHYLAMINO HYDROXYBENZOYL HEXYL BENZOATE, HOMOSALATE, METHYL METHACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER, METHYLENE BIS-BENZOTRIAZOLYL TETRAMETHYLBUTYLPHENOL [NANO], BIS-ETHYLHEXYLOXYPHENOL METHOXYPHENYL TRIAZINE, C12-15 ALKYL BENZOATE, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, SILICA, BEHENETH-25, ETHYLHEXYL TRIAZONE, POLYMETHYL METHACRYLATE, DIMETHICONE, GLYCERYL STEARATE CITRATE, POLYESTER-7, NIACINAMIDE, AMINOMETHYL PROPANOL, BETA-CAROTENE, CAPRYLHYDROXAMIC ACID, CETEARYL DIMETHICONE CROSSPOLYMER, DAUCUS CAROTA SATIVA (CARROT) ROOT EXTRACT, DECYL GLUCOSIDE, GLYCINE SOYA (SOYBEAN) OIL, HYDROGENATED PHOSPHATIDYLCHOLINE, LECITHIN, LEPIDIUM SATIVUM SPROUT EXTRACT, PHENETHYL ALCOHOL, GLYCERIN, SQUALANE, TOCOPHEROL, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, 1.2-HEXANEDIOL, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, CITRIC ACID, DISODIUM EDTA, HYDROXYETHYL ACRYLATE/SODIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYL TAURATE COPOLYMER, LYSOLECITHIN, NEOPENTYL GLYCOL DIHEPTANOATE, PENTYLENE GLYCOL, POLYSORBATE 60, SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE, SORBITAN ISOSTEARATE, XANTHAN GUM, PHENOXYETHANOL, FRAGRANCE (FRAGRANCE)

It's a white yellow tinted cream which is slightly thicker, but still spreads well, though you need to massage it in fast, because it sets quickly. On my combination skin it leaves a bit of sheen which gets shinier through they day, but is manageable with some powder. On drier skin it may look more velvet. It sits good under makeup as well.

There is a very strong fragrance to it which smells sort of sweet powdery and I think it's too strong. I've gotten used to it and doesn't bother me, but I still get surprised by how strong it is. This won't be for those sensitive to fragrance.

Performance

I noticed that while I am applying it, it seems to burn a bit and I have no idea why, because my skin doesn't look or feel irritated, it's just a slight sting that I feel. Might be because of some ingredients. It's a lot thicker cream than I am used to with Asian sunscreens, but it's still comfortable to wear and I find it more lightweight on the skin than other European sunscreens. I still think it's more suited for normal to combination skin. Oily skin will hate it.

When I posted about SVR products I go so many recommendations for their Blur version of Sun Secure. Apparently it's more mousse like and perfect for combination to oily skin. Now I kind of wish to try that one too.

SVR Xerial 30 Creme

Packaging

Another plastic tube packaging with bigger hole opening perfect to be used on the body. In it is 100 ml of product and it costs around 16€.

Formula

POLYISOBUTENE . OCTYLDODECYL XYLOSIDE . PEG-30 DIPOLYHYDROXYSTEARATE . POLYSORBATE 20 . SORBITAN ISOSTEARATE . PROPYLENE GLYCOL . DISODIUM EDTA . CITRIC ACID . POTASSIUM SORBATE

It's thicker muted colored cream which still spreads with ease. There is that occlusive feel of urea which is nourishing and moisturizing on the skin. After all, there is combination of lots of moisturizing ingredients in it like urea, glycerin, mineral oil and shea butter. It leaves velvet sheen on the skin.

There is no scent to it.

Performance

I wanted to use this under my arm pits to see, if it would help with ingrown hairs, so I always applied it on freshly shaves pits as well as the next day. I noticed that it stung a bit on fresh cuts which is probably due to salicylic acid which is BHA - acid that helps to exfoliate pores. My skin was well nourished and moisturized, but I didn't see any major change with my ingrown hair. I think BHA concentration is too low for it to work on my skin. When I used other products with higher concentrations of acids, I noticed more difference than with this one.

PR was so kind and also sent me a lot of testers from other SVR products. There was so many of testers that I got a pretty good idea about each product and could test it out fairly well and am still using them. Here are my short thoughts of these other products.

SVR [A] Amouple Lift - 30 ml, around 35€

Ampoule is targeted towards uneven skin, skin with imperfections, enlarged pores and wrinkles. It's serum concentrated in vitamin A to retexturize skin and make it smooth. Day after day the quality of skin should improve and look younger.

SVR combines two retinols in combined concentration of 0.3%. In it is pure retinol 0.1% and pure retinol encapsulated 0.2%. Combination of both should gently smooth skin surface and regenerate the epidermis. It contains 92% natural-origin ingredients.

Some of the main ingredients in it are glycerin, squalane, ascorbic acid, grape seed oil, retinol, shea butter and some peptides. It's fragranced.

It's lightly yellow colored serum which has slip to it and feels surprisingly nourishing. It's squalane in it that gives the skin dewy sort of greasy look and makes it look nourished and moisturized. I am fairly sensitive to active ingredients and I had no irritation with retinol in it, so I'd say it's gentle. It's so nourishing that I don't use anything else on top on my combination skin. After using it few night in a row, I noticed my skin got smoother and it definitely helped with imperfections like blemishes. This is one formula that I really liked, because mostly retinols irritate me, but this one didn't.

There is a subtle scent to it and I can't point of what is smells, but it's not too strong.

Ampoules from left to right - A, B and C

SVR [B3] Ampoule Hydra - 30 ml, around 36€

Ampoule targeted for sensitive, dehydrated skin with discomfort and wrinkles. Serum is highly concentrated in vitamin B3 and should soothe and strengthen the skin. Combination of three hyaluronic acids provides skin with moisture. Tightness and discomfort are reduced.

Vitamin B3 or niacinamide is known for strengthening and restoring skin barrier. In serum there is concentration of 5% of niacinamide which with help of hyaluronic acids moisturizes intensely, reinforces and plumps dehydrated skin.

They say formula is minimalistic with only 12 ingredients and no fragrance to suit sensitive skin. 91% of ingredients are of natural-origin. Niacinamide is the third ingredient on ingredients list, right after water and glycerin. Right after it are the three hyaluronic acids.

It has viscose liquid texture which reminds me of those Asian essences in sheet masks. There is no scent to it. It spreads with ease, leaves behind a slightly sticky layer. It makes skin look instantly plump and gives it a hydrating sheen. I can see myself wearing just that in hot summer days and it would be enough hydrating for combination skin. Paired with other products, it's suitable for even drier skins.

SVR [C] Ampoule Anti-ox 30 ml, around 35€

Amouple is targeted towards dull and tired skin with unevenness and wrinkles. 20% optimized vitamin C concentration of this serum gives the skin radiant complexion and reduces the signs of fatigue. With the use skin should be toned, luminous and even.

SVR talks about instability of vitamin C which is the reason they chose 20% optimized vitamin C which is equivalent to 17% of pure vitamin C. Their optimized version is more stable and offers effectiveness over time. This ampoule can be kept for 9 month after opening.

It uses a form of ethyl ascorbic acid which is the second ingredient after water. Next are propylene glycol, alcohol denat and glycerin.

Texture is slightly thicker then water, but very runny. It has good slip to it, despite being so runny. If you apply it heavily, you can feel that very moisturizing layer on your skin which almost has a bit of greasy feel to it, which is weird since there is no oil in it. It feels like it's evaporating a bit, which might be due to alcohol, but it's surprisingly not irritating on my skin at all. I think dry skin would love it as well since it's pretty moisturizing. For me it's more of an evening product. If I use it in the morning I don't use anything else on top, because it's moisturizing enough.

It has that citrus scent to it which I always associate with bathroom cleaners, but this one is actually nicer than in some other vitamin C products I've had in the past.

SVR Liftiane Serum - 30 ml, around 37€

It's illuminating serum which lifts the skin, smoothes wrinkles and refines skin texture. It uses the same active ingredients as the creme - resveratrol and two hyaluronic acids.

It's a liquid serum like consistency with a pearl white pink color to it. It spreads easily and leaves a slightly tacky feel on the skin. There is some sheen to it as well. It's like a lighter version of the cream and it also instantly brightens complexion because of its pearl color and sheen. It has the same scent as creme.

L: Liftiane Serum, R: Hydracid C20 Creme

SVR Hydracid C20 Creme - 30 ml, around 42€

It's a gel cream concentrated in vitamin C and hyaluronic acid to energize skin that is tired, creased and lacking in color. Skin is smoothed, unified and radiant. It is suited for sensitive skin, those with sallow complexion, wrinkles and lack of radiance.

It contains 20% optimized vitamin C, powerful antioxidant which protects against aging and brightens the skin. There is also high molecular weight hyaluronic acid to boost skin's moisture for hydrating and plumping effect.

In it is ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate as a form of vitamin C right after water. There is also some glycerin, alcohol, silicon and shea butter in it.

It's lightly nude colored cream. Texture is more on the liquid side, it spreads easily, but absorbs fast. It's definitely nourishing and leaves the slightest sheen on the skin, but the finish is more satin to velvet. Skin feels plumper to the touch. I had no irritation with vitamin C in it.

It has sort of powdery oriental scent to it, subtle though.

I also got tester of one of the Uriage products and that is one for the hands.

Uriage Bariederm Insulating Repairing Hand Cream - 50 ml, around 7€

Barrier cream for hands that soothes, softens and nourishes very dry hands and those exposed to aggressive factors. It's non-sticky, quickly absorbent, invisible and water resistant. In has ingredients like Uriage thermal water, polymers, phytosqualanes, glycerin and manuka honey. It's fragrance free.

It's mineral oil based with silicons and glycerin.

It's thicker white cream which spreads well. It sinks in fast, but leaves that nourishing moisturized layer on the skin. I wouldn't say it's invisible, because it leaves slight velvet sheen, but it doesn't feel particularly greasy. You can feel it though. This is perfect for those with drier skin on their hands. I notice hint scent to it, but this might be natural scent of manuka honey.

I like it, but on my very easily irritated eczema hands, this felt irritating at times. I think my skin didn't like manuka honey in it. After looking up other Uriage ranges, I have my eye on Xemose range. Especially their Lipid-Replenishing Anti-Irritation Cream as I've read comments saying it helped with their eczema, which I also have major problems with right now.

You can purchase SVR products in most Slovenian pharmacies, wither online or physical stores as well as in Nama and on Notino. You can also find their products on Lookfantastic and Feelunique.

If you want to read more in-depth about these products you can go on their official SVR online page. It was so refreshing to see real life skin on some of their models instead of overly retouched campaigns that you see on every other media.

Conclusion

To conclude, after trying out some of these SVR products I came to conclusion that I like their formulas. They are refined and feel so good on the skin. Some formulas could use less fragrance in my opinion - especially their sun screen. I like using more than one product in my skin care routine, but applying five scented products can sometimes result in irritation. There wasn't a single products I didn't like texture wise. For some of these products, I would need to use for longer period to see any long term results. But those instant effects were visible after just few applications. It's a high end brand, but I feel like you pay for elegant formulations with interesting ingredients list not just the brand.

Out of all three full sized products I liked Liftiane Creme which was just the perfect finish for combination skin and it moisturized my skin well without irritating or clogging it. My skin liked it. Their Sun Secure Fluide was nice too. I prefer it now that it's colder, because it leaves quite a lot of sheen on my combination skin. It's a bit much for summer on me and I could do without heavy scent. But it actually wears good under makeup and sinks in fast. I would like to try Blur version in the future. Xerial 30 Creme was a bit disappointing, because I didn't see any major difference with my ingrown hair. But I will use it up on my legs and elbows.

After trying out some testers, I really like retinol [A] Ampoule Lift formulation which is gentle enough for my skin, but makes my skin smoother and clearer. This is one of those retinol formulas that I could see working for me without irritating my skin. I also really liked non-fragranced [B] Ampoule Hydra which is nicely hydrating and great to layer under moisturizers. There was also something about Hydracid C20 Creme which felt so elegant on the skin and I like using it during the day as it has some vitamin C to it (nice anti-oxidant), but is nicely moisturizing with a velvet finish that works well under makeup.

Colorful Melting Face

I wasn't going to do Halloween makeup this year, because the situation is just what it is. Let's be honest, most of the world is staying in at home and there aren't any activities. But hey, maybe I'm wrong and there will be Zoom parties going on. Anyway, I got last minute idea to include face mask into my look, as masks have become the new norm in Western world. I didn't know what to call this look. It sort of reminds me of ninja in a way,  but then the face should look like it's melting.

I had black face mask at home, which I use when I go outside. So I included it into this look. I painted eyes in a colorful explison, added some rhinestones for extra bling and painted black drips on top and bottom to make it look like everything round the eyes is melting down ( I just mixed Inglot gel liner with Duraline). I also added some white cartoon like highlights to make it just a tad more interesting. This is actually Halloween idea that you could potential go outside with.

Review: October 2020 Favorites

October has been a month of testing several new products that I received and I am featuring some of them in my favorites. Autumn is in its full swing and I've also brought out some of my seasonal favorites that I am falling back in love with.

SVR sent me so many of their testers along three full size products that I have been testing them all month and am still using them. I've talked about this in my review post, but I had to update my experience with [A] Ampoule. I guess retinol isn't as gentle as I thought in the beginning. After using it for few days in a row, I've noticed my skin got more irritated and flaky. It wasn't anything I couldn't handle, I just thought it was super gentle, but it's actually stronger. So I've cut back on it and I'll slowly introduce it back. I loved how smooth it makes my skin and it also helps with breakouts. [B3] ampoule is niacinamide and hyaluronic acid serum which makes it nicely hydrating. I love viscose texture of it which coats the skin and feels so soothing. I especially loved using it after that retinol to help rehydrate my skin and it did the trick. I like this more and more and am thinking of investing in a full size bottle.

Wet n Wild Coloricon Eyeshadow Palette - Nude Awakening

I mostly wore this and Catrice's eyeshadow palette this month, because I've been testing them both and neither disappointed me. Mattes are super soft to the touch and blend out well. Shimmery shades also have nice payoff and you don't need to build them up. I really like this color combination, it's perfect for fall. First transition shade is actually one of my favorites, because it's the perfect neutral medium brown for the crease. As the palette also has black for eyeliner and blinding inner corner shade, it makes it so well rounded and just lovely for everyday use.

Catrice The Coral Nude Collection Eyeshadow Palette - 010 Peach Passion

I haven't had many experiences with Catrice eyeshadows in the past, so I didn't know what to expect, but they are quite nice and at a good price point. These are definitely a bit dustier and there is kick up in the pan, but that's mostly because they are so finely milled and not pressed in hardly. Which means you can pick them up quickly, but you'll use them up fast. Mattes are incredibly smooth and soft. They blend out effortlessly and sometimes that means you'll need to build lighter shades up. Metallics have one swipe intensity and pick up great with a brush or fingers. There are some really reflective shades in this palette which I love. Color scheme is a bit odd to me. Most matte shades are neutral (apart from that brick orange), some leaning cool, but metallic shades are more on the warm side.

Catrice 24h Brush Liner With Coconut Water Longlasting - 010 Ultra Black

Catrice knows how to make good eyeliners and this one is one of my favorites. It reminds me a lot of their felt tip eyeliner - I think it's Joe Black named, but with a brush version. It's just liquid enough and dries down fast and doesn't move. There is no transfer and no cracking. Brush is small enough and thin, but it takes some getting used to, if you're more familiar with felt tips or brush pens. But you can create thin lines. It sort of runs a bit between the lashes which is for some reason quite hard to take off in between them. I also love the fact that it has completely matte finish, most of these eyeliners tend to have a bit of sheen, not this one though.

I don't know what is it with me and cream products?! I've just been using a lot more cream makeup products than ever before. This is one of those blushes that I would use on those minimal no makeup days for when I want to look just a bit put together, but not like I'm actually wearing full face of makeup. It's the perfect redish brown color that just adds a bit of autumn color to my cheeks and isn't too pigmented. It has sort of sheerer look to it and slight sheen to it. I pair it with some concealer and maybe liquid highlighter and I'm good to go.

As you can see, this has been heavily used and looks a bit abused already. I think it's coming to an end and I feel I need to share it in at least one more favorites, because I love it that much. It's one of those smooth to the touch bronzers with slight sheen to it, but not as buttery as Physicians Formula for example. That one is also more cool toned, while this one has more warmth to it despite its name. It does still have just a slight grey tone to it. It was almost a bit light for me in the summer, but in the winter I have to use it with light hand. I like how effortlessly this applies and that it gives me just enough color, but doesn't look too warm nor too cool or completely matte. I was thinking for repurchasing it, but I'm not sure yet. I feel like I would need something lighter for winter, though their lighter shade looks too warm for my liking.

Catrice Plumping+Maxi-Lip Lip Liner - 020 What A Doll

This is such a nice color. It's that perfect medium mauve pink that will suit most skin tones. It has creamy formula which applies smoothly, but isn't too waxy or slippery. It also doesn't feel particularly drying, but has matte finish. I sense some mint in it which tingles just a bit, but fortunately it just lasts a few seconds and then it's gone.

I got this one in mini size with a purchase few years ago from Colourpop and to be honest, I haven't used Satin Lips from Colourpop that much, because they always felt too drying on me. But I have been able to wear more matte lipsticks now and I used that chance to bring out some of my favorite shades and Frick N' Frack is just that. It's that perfect muddy redish brick brown shade that speaks autumn to me. I prefer using these kind of matte lipstick in a more sheerer way. I usually apply them with a fluffy eyeshadow brush and diffuse the edges for a more laid back look. It also means lisptick is more lightweight on the lips and thus not as drying.

Ortenia Apartments

We went on a three day getaway to eco apartments called Ortenia in Podčetrtek (Slovenia). It has been such a nice way of taking some time for ourselves and just enjoying each others time and spoiling ourselves a bit. The package included some nice perks like massage (did I mention I loooove massages, but unfortunately my budget doesn't allow me to enjoy them often), 5 course dinner at a near restaurant which has a whole herd of deer and some private spa time. I always thought I would dislike sauna, because sauna is a daily thing for me in the summer. I can just sit outside and sweat like a pig. So the thought of doing this intentionally was just crazy to me. But thanks to Corona, Ortenia personnel scheduled private time in their spa with two saunas and jacuzzi, so it was an enjoyable experience in privacy. We've also spend some time in surrounding nature and apartment itself was so nice. I loved nature inspired design and huge windows with lots of natural light. It was small, but had everything - kitchen, shower, couch and bed. I can't recommend it enough, if you're ever considering going there. Personel is also very nice and ready to help with anything. You can read more about Ortenia here

The Good Fight

I have just discovered this TV show and now I'm hooked. If you love shows like Suits, you'll probably like this one too. It follows lives of lawyers at a diverse law firm, but what makes it so much fun is the fact that there is so much current politics included in it. Along law cases you're also following side story of how to prevent Trump from winning next elections and all other society issues like black lives matter for example. There is also lots of comical dialogues and I find it perfect mix of laugh, disgust and intrigue.

Review: Wet n Wild - Nude Awakening Palette, Balm Stain, Lip Liner and Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick

Wet n Wild isn't a new brand in Slovenia. It was here already, but then it sort of disappeared for a while and now it's back. I remember their lipsticks being really popular back in the day, especially Bare It All shade, though I never tried any. I have quite a few of their face products - highlighters and blushes which I really like.

It's one of the brands that has been cruelty free from the beginning, they came out with first drugstore black nail polish and keeps their prices as low as they were in the beginning, which is one of the reasons I love them. Their products are affordable, but the quality is also good.

Wet n Wild Coloricon - Nude Awakening

Packaging

It comes in black plastic packaging with transparent lid. In it is 10 g of product and it costs 6.29€.

Formula

Some of these shades are very smooth to the touch, buttery and they have good pigmentation. Some feel drier to the touch and those need to be build up. In general mattes are just as good as shimmery ones, some even better, because they are smoother.

Colors

I think in Slovenia there are available 8 different palettes. Nude Awakening is selection of mostly neutral nude shades with some copper and burgundy. I love that there is everything, nude matte, shimmery inner corner highlight, neutral matte browns for the crease and even black for eyeliner. It's a well rounded color scheme. I took this palette on a short vacation, because it has everything you may need for a look.

1 - matte medium neutral camel brown
2 - matte pale neutral cream
3 - shimmery medium warm copper
4 - light satin neutral camel brown
5 - matte dark neutral burgundy
6 - shimmery neutral champagne with silver glitter particles
7 - satin dark chocolate neutral brown with purple berry sheen
8 - satin to shimmery light warm brownish copper
9 - matte dark black with a more blue tint
10 - matte medium cool taupe

My favorite shade is 1 which is perfect neutral medium brown to put in the crease. I also love 2 as an all over shade to set eyeshadow primer and 9, because it's nicely pigmented and works great as a liner. Shimmery shades are on the softer side, I like something wetter and more metallic looking, but out of these my favorite is 6 which perfect for inner corners and 3 which is great for all over the lid. I think shade 4 is quite unique, because it has such a subtle satin sheen that picks up just a bit of light and is perfect for all over the lid one shade look.

Performance

Most of these shades blend out nicely, but those that feel drier to the touch like shade 5 can be harder to blend out and apply evenly. However, I was surprised by mattes like 1 and 10 which blended really well. Shimmery shades are best applied with fingers for ultimate impact and color payoff. I also tried to apply them with some setting spray and it looked more opaque as well. They last descent on the lids, though I notice some fading through the day.

Here are some looks I did with this palette.

Megaslicks Balm Stain - Coral of the Story

Packaging

It's one of those plastic chubby pen formats with bullet that comes out by twisting the bottom. In it is 3 grams of product and I am not sure how much it costs. I forgot to look it up in the store.

Formula

This is that balmy comfortable formula that just glides on the lips with ease. It leaves a bit of sheen on the lips. Color payoff is pretty good for a balm, it looks very vibrant with a few swipes over the lips.

Colors

I am not sure how many shades are available. I have Coral of the Story which is coral pink, quite vibrant. It looks more pink on photos, but looks more coral on me in person.

Performance

It's indeed very moisturizing formula that feels comfortable on the lips, but I sense some sort of menthol on the lips though it doesn't say it's in it on the packaging. But it has to be, because I feel it on my lips almost evaporating. It's not uncomfortable though and fairly faint. As it wears off or you take it off, it leaves strong stain on your lips. So even though this isn't long wearing because of balm formula, it leaves behind strong color which lingers on the lips until you take it off with an oil cleanser.

Coloricon Lip Liner - 717 Berry Red

Packaging

This is one of the longest lip liners I have seen in my life. It will probably last me a life time. It comes in the color that's inside with plastic cap. This is regular pen that needs to be sharpen. In it is 1.4 grams of product and it costs 1.99€.

Formula

It has smooth and creamy formula which applies very evenly. I love how it glides on the lips and feels modern, not at all waxy.

Colors

In out stores you can choose among 6 colors. I hear shade 666 is quite iconic as it should complement many skin tones, though it looked dark in the store. I 'm kind of intrigue now to try it.

717 Berry Red is a classic medium neutral red. It's that perfect red that will pair well with most classic red lipsticks.

Performance

It leaves just slight sticky layer which also makes it fairly lasting. There is some transfer, but very little.

Megalast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick - Berry Recognize

Packaging

It comes in small plastic transparent tube.Applicator is fluffy and shaped to hug lips better. In it is 6 grams of product and it costs 4.99€.

Formula

It has creamy formula which isn't too liquid and not as thick as most matte liquid lipsticks and has really good smooth glide to it. While it's still wet, you can adjust it and move it. In the matter of few seconds it dries down to complete matte finish. Pigmentation is somewhat of a medium. It's not full on as most such lipsticks. It might be just with this shade, I can't say for sure.

Colors

Here in Slovenia we can choose among 7 shades. Some neutrals, pinks and reds. Berry Recognize is medium to dark berry mauve shade. I really like this kind of color in a matte formula, it looks so good especially for autumn.

Performance

It's matte liquid lip which means it's transfer proof. There is slightest bit of stickiness which isn't bothering. If you have dry lips, you will find it drying as with most such lipsticks. I like that it's a bit thinner formula than usual, so it doesn't feel as heavy, especially if you apply it sheerer, though I can still feel it on my lips as with most matte lipsticks. It's long lasting, if you avoid greasy foods.

I really liked this eyeshadow palette. Colors are all pretty neutral and there is good selection of lights, darker shades and even black. For this price, you really can't go wrong at the drugstore. Mattes are definitely stars in it, shimmers are more subdued, but perfect for everyday looks, I just prefer my shimmers more metallic.

You can buy Wet n Wild in Slovenia here: Interspar Citypark Ljubljana, Leclerc Maribor, Tuš drogerija Planet Celje and Ljubljana Moste, parfumerija Beauty World Maribor and drogerija Ilirija. Online it's available on Beauty WorldTuš drogerija, Zate and Petrol Eshop.

Lip liner is another no brainer. You get huge lip pencil, lots of product and it has such nice creamy formula that applies so evenly. I'm kind of sorry I didn't get more shades when I had the chance. Especially that famous 666 shade. Balm stain didn't impress me, but that is because I don't like these kind of coral shades. If it came in a nude brown and without the annoying menthol in it, I would like it. Matte liquid lipstick is thinner in formula than most such drugstore lipsticks which I really like. It's still a bit drying on me, but this berry shade looks so good on the lip I might sacrifice my dryness and actually wear it this autumn. If you apply it in a sheerer stain like application it wears more comfortably.

I would love to try their Coloricon Bronzer in Ticket to Brasil, though I don't know how shimmery it would actually look like on the skin. I also had their Photo Focus foundation on my wishlist for a long time, but I recently took it off as I'm not sure it would suit my skin. I definitely recommend highlighters, if you like metallic shine.

Review: Avon Naturals Aloha Monoi Coconut & Tiare Flower - Scrub, Lotion And Scented Spritz

$
0
0

I'm a little late posting about this Avon Naturals collection named Aloha Monoi. It was released in summer and features very summery scent of coconut and tiare flower. The whole collections includes shower creme, bubble bath, body scrub, body lotion and scented spritz. I tried out three of those.

Packaging

Collections is packaged in transparent plastic tubes and bottles. Design is inspired by Tahiti featuring white sand and turquoise water. Very tropical and pretty.

Body Scrub

It's white cream which contains small scrub particles. Those are even smaller than sugar, more like regular salt. You can spread it well and massage into the skin easily.

It's quite gentle scrub for the body, I am used to bigger scrub particles. But it still exfoliated skin physically and leaves it nicely soft after you wash it off. Scent of it linger for a bit as well.

In it is 150 ml of product and it usually costs 2.20€.

Body Lotion

It's one of those light gel cream lotions. Texture is very spreadable and so lightweight that it almost feels like you're applying gel on your body. You need very little of it to cover your whole body.

It sinks into the skin fast and leaves velvet finish with the slightest sheen, which is perfect for hot weather. It feels just enough moisturizing, but lightweight. Milky tropical scent lingers on the skin for a while.

In it is 200 ml of product and it usually costs 2.20€.

Scented Spritz

These scented spritzes are basically scented alcohol waters. You spray them on your body or even use it to refresh the room. It gives you scent, but isn't as powerful or long lasting as proper perfumes, though it still lingers on body and clothes for a descent time.

Out of all three products this one has the most prominent scent. To me it doesn't smell that much of coconut, it's more like a creamy coconut milk base on top of tropical floral scent which must be tiare flower. It's very creamy and sort of cozy, but very much summery scent. I liked this for using at home when I wasn't going anywhere and I still wanted to smell nice.

In it is 100 ml of product and it usually costs 2.50€.

I think this is fun summer collection of body products with creamy tropical scent. Scrub is gentle, but helps to remove that upper layer of dead skin cells, body lotion is lightweight and sinks in fast and spritz is just scented enough that it lingers long enough, but won't make your head hurt.

Avon also sold all three of these products in a set for 5.90€. They have many different scents of Naturals sets as well, so you can choose more season appropriate scents like cranberry & cinnamon. I have gifted some of them to my friends already in the past. They are fun, because scents are more one to two dimensional, so if you know someone that loves vanilla for example, you can't go wrong with vanilla sandalwood body set.

Review: Catrice Brow Definer Brush Pen (040 Ash Brown) vs. Essence Tiny Tip Precise Brow Pen (02 medium brown)

$
0
0

I think you might have noticed by now that I love to try out brow products. It's one of those fields that I'm never quite satisfied with when it comes to doing my own makeup. If you have sparse brows like I do, you need all the help you can get. I was so excited when two of my favorite drugstore brands - Essence and Catrice came out with their brow pen versions that I had to try them both. Here's comparison of them.

Packaging

Essence comes in matte black packaging with colored cap to represent the color. Catrice has brown colored packaging to represent color inside.

Essence has 1.1 ml of product and costs 2.79€. Catrice has 0.7 ml of product inside and it costs 3.79€.

Applicator

Essence has thin felt tip and Catrice has brush applicator. Essence's felt tip is thinner than Catrice's brush which is fairly thick. The tip is pointy and if you have very light touch you can create very thin hair like strokes. You would think with Essence you can create super thin lines and you could, but I feel like it doesn't transfer as well as Catrice's, so you have to press it to the skin more and therefor loose preciseness. With Catrice you can create hair like strokes, but with Essence it looks more powdery and not as defined.

Essence's felt tip is usually well saturated if you store it upside down (like you should these kind of products), but sometimes it doesn't stick to the skin where there is no hair. You have to press it down a bit more

Catrice's brush is more saturated than Essence, it's always ready. After some uses product may collect between brush hair, but you can just wipe it off. I also noticed that sometimes Catrice's formula spilled from the sides which might be packaging problem or the fact that I store it upside down and the product creates pressure and leaks out on the sides as well as through the brush. That really bugged me, because there was so much product spilling out I couldn't draw thin strokes, it all got blotchy. I'm not sure if this is just problem with mine or all of them.

Formula

Both of these have liquid formula, but Essence has sheerer pigmentation. With Catrice you can build it up to look pretty dark, but with Essence it stays looking sheerer.

Colors

They both offer 4 shades of pens.

Essence 02 medium brown is lighter medium brown with grey tone to it. For some reason it looks a bit redish on my brows in person and I can't say why, because it has definite grey undertone.

Catrice 040 Ash Brown is darker medium brown with warm yellow tone to it. I've heard some say it leans green on their skin tone, but on me it actually looks more natural than the one from Essence. Probably because of my warm to olive undertone. However I don't notice any ash tone to it, so the name is pretty off.

Let's talk finish. Essence looks sort of satin, more blurry and almost powdery like while Catrice's has definite shine to it which reflects light (makes your brows look sort of shiny/oily) and is much more defining.

Performance

With Catrice you can create hair like strokes which makes your brows look dimensional and more real like. However, there is that shiny finish that may bother some. Also, if the color doesn't match your brows perfectly, it can look a bit obvious up close.

Essence gives your brows powdery softer look sort of similar to brow powders or smudged brow pencils. It looks more matte, more filled in and less defined.

Neither is wateproof, but they both stay on well if you don't sweat or rub your brows.

Conclusion

When it comes to brow pens, I think most people like how defined your lashes can look with them and the fact that you can draw individual hair like strokes. If this is the case with you then obviously, you'll prefer Catrice's version, because it lets you create those thin lines and gives your brows definition without it looking too smudgy. Essence's version creates more of a filled in brow which looks like you've applied brow powder or smudged brow pencil in between your brows. It looks softer and more filled in. If I forget about the annoying leaking of Catrice's packaging, I'd say I prefer Catrice's version.

Now there is still room for improvement. For starters, I would like Catrice to have thinner brush, not as bulky, so you would get thin hair strokes without needing to learn to put as little pressure on your hand as possible. The color is also off for being called ash brown as there is nothing ashy about it. I would like the formula to be a bit sheerer as Essence's, because it would make my brow color look much more natural. And they definitely need to consider that leaking of the product, if it happens to others, it's a big packaging problem.

Classic to Shimmery Smokey Eye

I rarely do classic black smokey eye, because in general I prefer lighter colors on my eyes. But I thought I'll do tutorial of how I like to do classic smokey eye since I know many love this style of makeup. You can use same application for any other colors like purple, brown or orange smokey eyes.

I like going from lighter to darker colors, which means I start with my crease. For better longevity I apply eyeshadow primer which I set with powder or nude matte color close to my skin tone. Then I start building up colors by firstly using the lightest neutral brown in my crease and a bit above it. If you have hooded eyes make sure your lightest shade is above the actual crease, but not touching the brow.

Then I go in with more of a cooler medium brown and start to apply it in the crease and just a bit above it. Here you can make your shape. If you have smaller eyes which are more close together like me, you can concentrate more on the outer corner which you can pull up and out. On contrary, if you're eyes are more wide set, you can take that medium brown and apply it heavier in that hollow close to your inner corners. You can also make your shape more wide and pulled out or keep it rounded.

As the last step of eyeshadows I use black matte shade and apply it on the entire lid and just a bit into the crease and blend it just a tad above it. I have hooded eyes, so I want some of that black shade to show up even when my eyes are relaxed. I also applied more black on the outer corner and used much less in the inner corners because I don't want to further darken my already sunken in inner hollows where I naturally get shadows.

I used the same steps around my lower lash line. With lighter shade you can apply it in a more blown out way, lighter and more diffused. Then the darker you go with the shades the closer to your lash line. That's the general rule of smokey eyes - darkest around your lashes and lighter going outwards.

You could leave it like that, but in my opinion there is no proper classic smokey eye without dark water line. So I used very soft gel liner in pencil shape and lined my upper as well as lower water line. You can definitely apply gel liner on your upper lid close to your lashes, but if you have hooded eyes, apply it only in the waterline. That way you save lid space for eyeshadows. If you eyes are very small you can skip gel liner step as it will close up your eyes even more. That's why I avoid it on my eyes as well, but for the purpose of classic smokey eyes, I used it. Apply mascara and you're done. You can also apply false lashes which will make this look even more dramatic.

I find that classic smokey eye looks best on lighter eye colors like blues and greys. Black frames light eye color so well and makes it much more dramatic. You can use colorful smokey eyes to bring back other eye colors like purple smokey eye for green eyes or blue smokey eye for dark brown eyes.

If you're like me and you love shimmery eyeshadows and need something to sparkle, because matte is just too flat for you then you can upgrade this from matte to party festive shimmery smokey eye. You can use either creamy shimmery eyeshadow, shimmery pigment or shimmery powder eyeshadow.

I used creamy shimmery eyeshadow which is so easy to apply. I usually apply some on the brush and lightly tap it all over the mobile lid up to the crease. This way you can also create cut crease. But if you blend the edges you get shimmery smokey eye.

If you use shimmery pigments you can mix those with liquid mediums like Inglot Duraline or apply them on the brush and spray the brush with setting spray to make it stick to your eyeshadow better. The same goes with shimmery powder eyeshadows. You can also apply a bit of glitter eyeshadow primer and then press pigments and powder eyeshadows on top of that.

I don't know about you, but this shimmery version is more up my alley. It's so much more fun and dimensional because of all the shimmer. I also think, if you have hard time creating perfect matte smokey eye and you feel like your blend just isn't there or your eyeshadows may not be as pigmented, applying shimmery shade on top always makes everything look more put together, because shimmery particles hide any mistakes you may have had under it as long as they are opaque enough. I find it easier for beginners at makeup.

Whether you prefer matte or shimmery eyeshadows, smokey eye is technique that many love or at least know of. It's one of those classic eyeshadow applications that you can use with any color scheme and adjust it to your eye shape. Once you know how you would like your eye shape to appear, it's just the matter of blending from darker to lighter shades.

November 2020 Favorites

Very uneventful month is behind us and I only hope December will be a merry one. I've been testing lots of new products this month and I am featuring some of those that I liked the most. I don't apply much makeup these days, because I don't leave the house much anyway.

I started using this again, though it's so old that they've since changed the packaging. It's one of those super cozy sort of sleepy scents that I spray in the room to give it a more cozy smell. You can also spray this on your pillow to help you sleep better. I prefer to spray it just in the air, because it can be quite strong. Surprisingly, I don't smell much lavender, which I hate, it's more camomile.

This is one of my favorite fragrances for colder months. I bring it out every year whenever I start wearing stronger and cozier scents. It's got that lovely sweet woody scent which smells so cozy and actually lasts really well on the skin for being a fragrance mist. I think this lasts just as good as eau de parfum.

Joico is my favorite high end hair care brand and this is definitely one of those products that is great for damaged hair. It's treatment that you apply like a mask and it makes my hair look healthier. It rebuilds and improves structure of hair, so this is for all of you that either color your hair or use a lot of heat and have damaged it. I color my hair regularly and this type of treatment always helps to bring hair back to somewhat descent state. I also enjoy other products from that same K-Pak range.

Catrice Soul Searchers Eyeshadow Palette 020 Namaste All Day!

Palette came in Catrice DIY Advent Calendar for 2020 and it's actually one of their older palettes that I believe isn't available anymore. I like it, because it's fairly creamy formula, so you can apply it just with your fingers for when you want really quick and one shadow look. All shades have very fine shimmer which makes them almost more satin like than metallic, so those are great everyday shades. I think there should be more color variety, since a lot of those shades are similar, but it's good for simple quick look. Lighter shades are great for inner corner or even as highlighter.

I think I've almost used up this product, because there's barely and on the wand. I love this tiny brush so much and the color medium is good brown for my brows as well. I apply it on its own, if I want to look put together, but wear almost no makeup. It makes my brow hair look thicker and denser. My brows look fuller with it and I like that there is texture in the brows so they don't look flat. It also works great on top of other brow products. I'm contemplating ordering it again, if I see a good deal on it.

Catrice LE Catrice Advent Calendar DIY Powder Highlighter C01 Soft Candlelight

This is another product from Catrice's Advent Calendar. Texture is wet, almost creamy, like formula of LE Glow in Bloom highlighters. Because of wetter texture it's harder to pick up with a fluffy brush, but with fingers you get very pigmented swatch. It's one of those light shades which is perfectly neutral, since it's champagne with just a hint of gold to it, but it almost reflects silver too. It's very reflective, but the shimmer in it is fine, so you won't get glittery shine. I really like these kind of shades, though more powdery formulas from Catrice apply better with brushes.

Catrice Light Correcting Serum Primer Candlelight

This was also in Catrice Advent Calendar and previously it was available in their regular range, but I'm not sure if it still is. I've grown to quite like those Catrice primers with pearly textures. This is like a thicker serum with pale off white color that has tiny shimmer and gives your skin pearly finish. The base is very light and white vanilla, so anyone with darker than pale or light skin tone will probably look ashy with it. I like this under my foundation to give it some luminosity, but I prefer to just mix it in with foundation or use it as a highlighter on no makeup days. It dries to complete matte finish which is fine for my combination skin.

It's probably one of my favorite blush shades of all time. I think H&M blushes are underrated. I've just ordered one more, because it was on sale and I already have four. Brown Sugar is the most perfect light brown with warm peach tone to it. It's that perfect warm brown to pair with any more neutral look and especially nice for those that hate pink blushes or bold blushes in general. It's soft powdery formula that can be build up and gives your cheeks slightest healthy satin sheen. Plus the formula lasts forever. I have been using it for a long time and it looks like a barely touched it.

Catrice Plumping Lip Liner 010 Understated Chic

I already have this lip liner in shade 020 What A Doll which is a more pink nude. I immediately liked its creamy pigmented formula and went and got another shade, this time a more warm peachier brown nude. It's exactly the kind of nude I like for warmer makeup looks. This formula glides on the lips like a dream and actually stays on my dry lips well, but doesn't make them look or feel dry. Catrice always made great lip liner and this is another great formula.

Lidl Crelando Watercolour Pencils

I like crafts, but I am not up to date to all the tools that are now available. I also don't know about watercolour pencils before I saw these in Lidl. I have more time on my hands, since I don't do much around the house now, so I try to find relaxing creative ways to entertain myself. They are basically water colors in pencil form, so you can draw something like you would with a pencil and then wet that color with wet brush to make it blend and give the effect of watercolor. It's such a fun way to fill this time with something creative that doesn't cost a fortune either. I think those were like 7€.

Sex Education TV Series

Colder months bring more time for tv series and I've been enjoying watching Netflix's Sex Education. This is such a fun series. It's happening in British high school. Otis, an insecure teenager and Maeven, the rebel, start sex therapy clinic. Otis' mother is sex therapist so he has the knowledge, though not practical experience. There is a lot of funny teenage sex scenes as well as high school love and drama. It's one of those easy comedy series that you'll enjoy, if you like these kind of themes.

Review: Essence Hello, Good Stuff - Serum, Primer, Tinted Beauty Cream (20) and 3in1 Face Mist

Essence is slowly introducing a lot of vegan products into their regular range and I had the chance to try out few skin care and makeup products from Hello, Good Stuff collection. From what I've tried, I liked. I think it's a very descent drugstore vegan option for those interested.

Face Serum

Packaging

It's glass bottle with dropper. I like dropper systems for skin care products as they allow you to apply the exact amount of product you want.

In it is 30 ml of product and it costs 4.89€.

Formula

It's made of 97% natural ingredients. There is water, pineapple fruit water, glycerin, panthenol, sodium hyaluronate...so basically water based with lots of nice hydrating and moisturizing ingredients

Yellow tinted viscose serum texture is very smooth and spreads with ease. It leaves nice glow on the skin and is a bit tacky in the beginning, but later sinks in completely

Sweet pineapple scent to me smells like pineapple hard candy and gives me cravings whenever I smell it. There is no added fragrance, the scent is from pineapple fruit water.

Performance

I like how lightweight it feels, but still has that viscose smooth texture to it which sticks to the skin and leaves a slight glowy layer on the skin. It makes skin look hydrated and moisturized with a very healthy looking glow. As it's such a lightweight products, I feel this would be suitable for most skin types.

Face Primer

Packaging

It's small plastic tube with tiny hole. You can squeeze out tiny amount of product.

In it is 30 ml of product and it costs 4.29€.

Formula

It's like a white gel cream formula which again has that very smooth spreadability, but is still light. It contains 98% natural ingredients. It leaves more of a velvet finish on the skin and sinks in fast.

Scent is natural herbal which for some reason reminds me of green tea.

Performance

This is basically lightweight moisturizer. You could call it hydrating primer, but it's a moisturizer and moisturizers are in fact primers for makeup too, you don't need a separate product. It moisturizers skin and leaves it nourished, but isn't heavy. It's again one of those products that would probably work for most normal to combination skin types.

Tinted Beauty Cream - 20 Medium

Packaging

This also comes in a small plastic tube with small opening.

In it is 30 ml of product and it costs 4.39€.

Formula

It's lightweight cream, with 90% natural ingredients, which spreads well and applies like a tinted moisturizer - very sheer. This gives you light coverage and leaves that hydrated creamy finish on the skin.

It smells the best out of all these to me, because it has such a cozy sweet powdery scent. It's artificially added fragrance though.

Performance

Sadly, shade 20 Medium is too dark for my skin tone, so I only used it as cream bronzer on top and under foundation, I can't really say how this performs on its own. But it seems like a lightweight cream which seems a bit moisturizing.

20 Medium is warm yellow to orange medium shade.

3in1 Face Mist

Packaging

Mist comes in plastic transparent packaging with spray dispenser that actually gives quite nice mist. It's not the finest, but better than some I've had in the past.

In it is 50 ml of product and it costs 3.29€

Formula

It's hydrating spray. Third ingredient is glycerin. They say it has matte finish, but it's definitely not. On my skin it leaves sort of a satin sheen

Fragrance is added and it smells of sweet watermelon candy.

Performance

You can spray this before applying makeup, after or just whenever you want to add a vail of moisture. This on top of makeup gives me that worn in look, meaning like my natural oils have come through and my skin looks very hydrated and a bit shiny

Did it blow my mind? No. Is it good? Yes. Ingredients are actually nice, all products apply super smooth and perform well. Serum is very basic hydrating serum which smells amazing and it's all natural scent. Face primer is good basic moisturizer to put under your makeup. Tinted beauty cream didn't impress me, because I dislike this kind of products in general, but I think it would be nice for someone that wants something very light with just a tad of color. Face mist is also very basic hydrating one, but can be used before or after makeup. I think this collection is for anyone that wants cheap, vegan option and doesn't wear much skin care or makeup or is fairly new to it. Perfect gift for teenagers, if you ask me.

All products are part of regular Essence range and are available in most drugstores that sell Essence.

*Products were sent to me.

Wishlist 2020

I rarely do these wishlists posts, probably once a year around holidays. It's just one of the more fun blog posts that I get to do more for myself than anyone else really. This is sort of like my shopping list for when I have the budget to invest and some of these never get to my home and that's ok too. I just love doing these sort of lists so that I make better choices when sales come around and I don't just buy whatever is on sale.

Sometimes these also serve as gift guide ideas for you that are reading them. You might wonder what to buy your loved ones and my ideas may help. I feel like holidays are canceled this year anyway, since we aren't suppose to mingle because of the situation, so I don't know how much of this is actually useful to most of you. But let's just have fun and look through some of interesting makeup, skin care, hair care and other products that I wouldn't mind trying out.

I already have Viseart Warm Edit and Paris Edit and I'd like to add a more colorful as well as darker palette to my collection. Dark Edit seems like an odd choice, but that's part of the reason I find it interesting. I'm still debating on if I actually would use these colors, but they don't have any more interesting palettes in those mini formats. I'll probably just wait for some new releases.

I only have one Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed from Becca and it's in Moonstone, probably the most beautiful light champagne gold. I've been eying their other shades for a while, but I have so many highlighters I just can't justify buying any more. This set however, is priced so well and you get three mini shades C Pop, Vanilla Quartz and Rose Quartz. Their pressed highlighter formula is so smooth and has such fine shimmer that looks very elegant and wearable.

Once I included Natasha Denona into the category I will never buy, because it seems to be so overpriced. Since she came out with mini eyeshadow palettes, I sort of want to try out at least one to see if her formula could really be as revolutionary as it seems. I've seen this palette on sale for 17€, but I still couldn't justify buying. If I would choose one shade, it would be Nude, which is a very basic and boring warm nude combo, but I feel I want something I would get the most wear out of for that price.

I am always on a search for new creams that could work on atopic skin. I have eczema on my hands and atopic dermatitis on upper part of the body. Though I'm pretty satisfied with my A-Derma Exomega cream, I fond this one just as interesting according to description, because I haven't had the chance to try it out yet. But I also read some reviews people raving about how good it is for eczema, so I'd love to try it out in the future.

I want this set mostly for the Diamond Bomb All-Over Diamond Veil in its first shade which is supposedly one of the most amazing highlighters as it looks super glossy and shimmery. I'm still not sure how I would like those small glittery particles in it, but I just can't shake it out of my head, because it always looks so interesting on others. This set also comes with Mini Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in Fu$$y which is their more pink rose shade of lip gloss.

Velvet Ribbon is the only shade that I have from Lisa Eldridge and it's a classic red which I rare on special occasions. I want to own at least one nude shade from her velvet collection which I know I would wear more often. Muse and Fawn look like most my kind of shades. Muse is that classic pinky brown nude that suits everyone and Fawn is 90's brown nude that I would probably wear a lot with my neutral looks. Lisa's Velvet lipsticks have amazing velvet matte finish and aren't drying. They also have amazing color payoff and the packaging is just pure luxury. This is something to really treat yourself with.

I still have some of Gimme Brow+ Gel in 03 in mini version, but I'm scratching empty bottom of the bottle already. This was such a nice brow gel with just the right medium brown color. Formula has small fibers so it makes your brows look thicker and bushier. I really liked mini version and tiny wand. I've also hear their clear brow gel is amazing as it holds the hair up so well and I think that one would work just as nice on my brows paired with some eyebrow pen.

I have Beauty Sleep Pillow Mist with lavender and camomile scent, but it's very old already. They've since changed the packaging. This is such a relaxing scent, mostly camomile and very cozy. I love to spray it around the room to relax better. They also have Energise version with bergamot and lemon oil which is for the body, but I would probably use all of these as room sprays. I really want to try out Calm version which has eucalyptus and peppermint oil. I feel this combo would be ultra soothing.

Me and my dry lips would probably love this. I hear only great thing about this sleeping mask. So far I am good with my Bepanthen as my lip sleeping mask for the night, but I would sure love to try that one by Laneige as well. They have different scent versions, but for the start I would go with the classic berry in pink pot.

I know I'll never spend that much money on a face palette, but I keep including Hourglass products in my wishlist just for the fun of it. Is it worth it? I can't say, but it looks super cute and the color selection seems nice. I like this mini version as it's easier to use up and there is a bit of everything - powder, highlighter, blush and bronzer all in one.

This is exfoliating body lotion with lactic acid (AHA) and I want to try some sort of AHA product for the body to help with my ingrown hair. AHAs exfoliate surface of the skin and ingrown hair basically happens because the upper layer of skin is too thick and hair can't come through. So I hear great reviews of this one, though it's expensive and I don't splurge on body products, ever.

Instead of Ameliorate I actually consider buying this one now, because it seems like a cheaper alternative. This one contains salicylic acid as well as lactic acid which means you get AHA as well as BHA, even deeper exfoliation. I think this cream would be perfect for my armpits and ingrown hair there. Tube is big and I like combination of both acids. I have their smoothing cleanser for the face and I like that one, but I use it sparingly, as it can be a bit drying on daily use.

This is actually known product to me. I still use tester of it that I received along some other full size products and I really liked it. It contains retinol. I don't own any full size retinol product in my routine currently, so I'm considering in investing in this one. Formula is nice to apply, feels quite soothing and gentle, if you don't use it every single day. When I did, I noticed some irritation around my eyes, so this is more of every other day products for me, but it's still gentle enough for my skin tone as well as effective. My skin was always very smooth after I used it and there was less breakouts.

Many beauty gurus swear by this to give them the best blowout. I've never been able to do a blowout at home with a hair brush and a hair drier, because I'm just not good with hair anything. I also don't go to hairdresser, so it's all up to my home tools and me. I'm intrigues by this, though the brush looks massive for my short hair, but I hope I could achieve that bounce and lift that I can't by just blow drying my hair with hair dryer. You know...that Hollywood blowout. It's a bit expensive at 60€ (I found it on sale now) and I'm not sure how well this would actually work on my fine short hair.

This is one of those things that I wish to invest in the most, but the budget just doesn't prioritize it right now. I hear so many great benefits connected to sleeping on silk from your skin drying out less to your hair being less damaged and less wrinkles from sleeping on your face. There are many Slovenian companies that sell silk pillowcases, but the prices are still pretty hefty. I would opt for a classic white.

If you know me, then you know I am a coconut lover. I like coconut in my food and my scents. I didn't even know we have Slovenina shop selling these cute coconut bowl until I saw one of beauty bloggers mention them on Instagram. I find these bowl so cute for preparing breakfast in them or serving snacks. It's just one of those fun products to gift any coconut lover.

Another Slovenian company that makes these gorgeous chic water bottles. I've been eying their products for a while as well and I keep seeing them on sale, but just never buy. I am one of those people that carries bottles of water with them, but I usually just repurpose the plastic ones from store. I like bigger 750 ml glass bottle in Ginkgo design which is sort of muted beige with gold design. On their site you also have option to personalize cap with engraving like your name or anything else you would like. I find that super cute as a gift.

I'm sure most of you know of Olaplex and I too hear great reviews of this treatment for damaged hair. However, I never convinced myself to actually buy it, because I enjoy my Joico K-Pak range so much and am not sure, if I need Olaplex as well. But I would sure love to try this bond builder that should revitalise and regenerate my damaged strands which are broken due to hair coloring and heat being used on them almost daily. I'm always a bit baffled by the high price for only 100 ml, but I figure I won't use as much product on my fine hair.

I would love to try out just every single product from Joico, that's how much I love this brand. I mostly just use their K-Pak range, but I've had some from Moisture range in the past as well. I am not sure, if this is the same mask I once used or if this is new product (it's been a very long time since I used it, probably 10 years ago). I like that this is suited for fine hair as well. I have fine hair with oily roots, but my ends are dry and damaged, so I think I would like this mask, if it didn't weigh my hair down. Gelee to me implies to a lighter formul anyway.

I included the whole range of Defy Damage products, because I would love to try any of these and the price for set is actually pretty good. This is range designed to protect your hair from damage made by environmental aggressors and heat styling - which is my main concern. It should make your hair silky and soft. I'm not sure how much this collection differs from K-Pak range, but I would still want to try it out maybe in between. Shampoo is sulphate-free, conditioner repairs, mask nourishes and shield is leave in product.

I hear one makeup artist raving about this product so much that I really want to try it out on my hair. It's basically heat activated treatment for the hair that eliminates frizz, waterproofs your strands, repels moisture and leaves your hair ultra smooth without weighing them down. I feel like this is the type of styling product that would make your hair look super sleek, but you should use nourishing leave in spray underneath it to prevent your hair from further drying out. My hair isn't sleek and smooth, so I'm wondering if this would make them look better than they actually are.

Review: Catrice Advent Calendar DIY 2020

Catrice has made Advent Calendar for 2020 that is DIY, so you can do it yourself. They've included 24 product, each for every day leading up to Christmas and you can arrange them into small bags in your preferred order. You can also gift some of these products to others, if you know you won't be using them all. I believe this isn't the first DIY calendar by them, they've had one last year as well.  I'm a little late to posting it, but I hope it helps, if you're still considering getting it.

Packaging

You get 24 products in paper box with geometric design. It's denim blue, blush pink and gold vibe. Inside you also get paper bags and metallic gold number stickers so you can create your own calendar. I find this also good idea to gift others. If you want to buy calendar for yourself, but you won't use all the products, you can gift them to others buy wrapping them in those little cute bags.

Price of advent calendar is 34.99€.

Most of the products in this calendar are the ones that have been regular on Catrice stand, but have been discontinued. so there is a chance you already own some of them. 8 of those products are actually limited edition and you can't buy them on their stand. I always thought all of the products in calendar would be either their best sellers or completely new products, but to include basically old stock in it, is just weird. Why not include all of their best sellers so you know you're getting the best and therefore promote the brand further.

I am going to list the products in order that I would apply them. I haven't tried them all out, because that would be a waste. I know I won't use all of these products, so I might give them away untouched to those that actually will get more use out of them. The ones I have tried I will write how I liked them.

Light Correcting Serum Primer Candlelight - 010 Candlelight

Nude liquid primer which massages into a complete matte finish, but tiny shimmer in it gives your skin quite opaque nude white sheen. This is pretty pale and will look dusty on anyone that isn't pale or light skin toned. It makes my skin white looking. But the sheen it gives it's so lovely. It's a proper sheen with no visible shimmer. This won't work well with dry skin, because it's not moisturizing. It has sort of a fruity sweet scent.

HD Active Performance Primer SPF30 - 010 Active Life

Cool blue toned white liquid that massages into transparent veil of slightest sheen. It doesn't do much for my skin, I think it's just a very thin layer of SPF. It's scented.

I have a review of two other shades. It's not my favorite. Coverage isn't all that high and it can look cakey on my skin, plus it's not hydrating for under the eyes.

Allround Colour Correction Palette

I have had other versions of this kind of palette from Catrice, so I can't say what the formula is on this one. I find their color correctors nice in terms of color, because it's not too bright so you can cover it, but sometimes formula is to slip to stay in place.

LE Advent Calendar DIY Multipurpose Brush

It has shorter, like mini version, gold plastic holder and white synthetic bristles. Bristles are tapered, very soft, slightly dense and create rounder top which is great for multiple uses. I actually like it as foundation brush to really extend foundation around my whole face in a light layer. It works good with cream blushes or bronzers and can be used for powder products as well, but it's denser, so you won't get the lighter application of blush with this.

Golden Dust Highlighter Drops - 010 Spacegold

Pale golden liquid which dries down to a matte finish. It gives the skin elegant sheen with no visible shimmer. Sheen is golden, but with a copper mixed into it, so it reflects almost a bit duo chrome, but copper undertone is very subtle.

Arctic Glow Highlighting Powder - 010 Jupiter's Glow

It looks like this is very cool toned shade because of the cool purple blue marble design in white highlighter. I haven't tried it though.

LE Catrice Advent Calendar DIY Powder Highlighter - C01 Soft Candlelight

It's wet powder texture highlighter with pale champagne shade and slight gold tone to it. This could be worn on cool to warm skin tones, but would look best on light skin tone. Formula is very wet, so harder to pick up with a brush. Shimmer in it is very fine, but reflects light almost metallic. It's very similar to LE Glow In Bloom highlighter in C01 Jasmine Blossom , though the one from Glow In Bloom seems to maybe be a tad more golden or yellow and just a tad less reflective. But if you have that one, skin this one.

LE Catrice Advent Calendar DIY Powder Blush - C01 Blushing Excitement

Powder blush with soft formula that is very pigmented, too pigmented in my opinion. I can't seem to apply this without it looking very intense on my skin and it's not the easiest to blend out. You have to use it with very fluffy blush and apply light pressure. It's medium muted brick red shade that will work on medium to dark skin as well.

Superbia Vol.1 Warm Copper Eyeshadow Edition - 010 Bronze Upon A Dream

Warm toned palette with matte, shimmery and satin shades.

Superbia Vol.2 Frosted Taupe Eyeshadow Edition - 010 I Cy Fire

Neutral and cool toned eyeshadow palette with matte, shimmery and satin shades. On a first look this one reminds me a lot of Crystallized Amethyst Eyeshadow Palette.

Soul Searchers Palette A Porter Eyeshadow - 020 Namaste All Day

Very slim eyeshadow palette with all shimmery shades. Formula is either very wet or almost creamy.

1 - pale warm shimmery beige
2 - pale neutral shimmery beige
3 - medium warm shimmery copper brown
4 -  medium warm shimmery bronze
5 - medium cool shimmery taupe brown
6 - medium neutral shimmery blue with slight green undertone

Shades 1, 2 and 3 are all on the wet side of the formula, but shades 3, 4 and 5 are practically creamy to the touch. Those look lighter in the pan, but once you swipe your finger across them, you notice the base layer is a lot darker.

The Blazing Bronze Collection Eyeshadow Palette - 010 Call It What You Want

Rose toned eyeshadow palette and it looks like all shades are shimmery.

Eyeshadow Stix - 090 Beautista's Choice

Cream shimmery taupe shade in a stick form with triangular shape.

Liquid Metal Longlasting Cream Eyeshadow - 070 Less Bitter, More Glitter!

Creamy eyeshadow that you apply with a soft fluffy flat applicator like you would lip gloss. It's very pigmented and opaque with just one swipe. Charcoal base has lots of intense silver shimmer and small glitter which reflects light amazingly. Its's the perfect party eyeshadow. It also sets in place and doesn't move or crease. I applied it on top of black powder eyeshadow here.

Rock Couture Extreme Volume Mascara 24h Lifestyle Proof

I haven't opened it, but it says on the back it's waterproof and should give extreme volume.

I actually have this in another shade. I love tiny precise brush wand which coats each lash. Formula isn't supper pigmented and it's a bit wet, so you have to wait for it to dry down. It has fibers in it so it makes your brows look thicker and gives them color. I would like it too also set them in place, but it's not the best for that.

I also have this product in another shade. It's thicker lip gloss with fun duo chrome reflections and metallic finish. It's a bit sticky, but feels very comfortable and you can't feel shimmer in it. It looks most interesting applied over colored lipsticks. Shade 030 looks like copper red duochrome.

Generation Matt Cofortable Liquid Lipstick - 090 Girls Bite Back

Medium mauve pink shade.

LE Advent Calendar DIY Glitter Lip - C01 Blushing Excitement

It's cream lipstick that doesn't apply smooth It's a bit thicker formula that is very opaque in one swipe. Small shimmer in it gives it velvet metallic finish. It's not all that comfortable to wear. Shade is medium neutral red with tiny gold and red shimmer.

LE Advent Calendar DIY Nail Polishes

I rarely apply nail polish anymore, so I haven't tried these, but I have many Catrice nail polishes and in general I like their formula. It's mostly creamy and opaque in two layers.

Shades from left to right:
C01 Unwrapped Nude - light taupe
C04 Blushing Excitement - medium classic to warm red
C02 Soft Candlelight - shimmery pale champagne gold
C03 Sparkling Flakes - transparent base with bigger rose gold hexagons and smaller glitter

Here I applied one of the Soul Searches eyeshadow shade on the lid. I also applied LE highlighter, blush and lipstick from this Advent Calendar.

The price is good for the amount of product you get, I am just not convinced by the fact that there are mostly just older products in it that aren't even available anymore in their standard range. If you can't do all new limited edition products, at least include best sellers that you know most of people will love. I am not advent calendar buyer, because I never like all the products that are in one of these. Now, if you have a lot of makeup lover friends than that's not a problem, you may gift the things that don't fit you style to others, but I still think there needs to be the best of the best in calendars. I will say all of these products are full sizes which is a big plus and there isn't any annoying products in it like a nail file (who likes that?!). There is also a nice range of products for the face, eyes, lips and nails. However including concealer is wasteful, because the shade won't apply to all skin tones.

Catrice Autumn Winter 2020/2021 Products

I have had these products for quite a while now, but I just couldn't come around to write the actual review. Then I realized I accidently deleted my previous notes on these and their comparisons, but I managed to save most of my thought and write them all down. It's all about the new products for autumn and winter 2020/2021 that have been added to Catrice range. Catrice is one of my favorite drugstore brands so I am always looking forward to trying new products.

True Skin Hydrating Foundation - 010 Cool Cashmere

Packaging

It comes in a glass bottle with gold plastic top. Pump lets you control the amount you pump out. In it is 30 ml of product and it costs 7.09€.

Formula

Liquid texture is very spreadable and it blends out well. Coverage is medium. It evens out skin tone and covers most imperfections. Finish is sort of satin as it has a bit of sheen and it leaves behind sticky layer which I have to powder down.

It contains hyaluronic acid and watermelon seed oil. There is slight powdery scent to it.

Colors

It comes in only four shades and most of them are light to medium toned.

010 Cool Cashmere is cool pink toned light shade, but it almost adopts more neutral on my skin tone. Though it's definitely not a match for my yellow olive tone, I can make it work with warmer bronzer. So far, I'm not sure there is a match for light yellow to olive tone.

Comparison

This is definitely the most pink cool toned foundation I own. Revlon Colorstay Combination/Oily in 150 Buff is much more yellow olive toned and Catrice HD Liquid Coverage in 010 Light Beige is more of warm neutral tone and the darkest out of these three.

Performance

As I mentioned, you have to powder it down or it will transfer easily. It looks a bit obvious on my skin, even over the smallest texture and it catches in fine lines. My pores also look bigger with it as the foundation doesn't really go over them, but rather accentuates them.

My problem with this formula is also that it lets my sebum come through and I can look very shiny with the combination of texture which looks unpleasant. Sometimes it seems to look better, but only if I apply it in a very thin layer. But it's definitely not for oily or combination skin. It's also not all that long lasting and that's mostly because it transfers easily, it doesn't really dries down and locks in.

Poreless Perfection Powder Universal Shade - 010 Universal Shade

Packaging

It comes in plastic packaging with nude design. In it is 9 grams of product and it costs 5.09€.

Formula

It's a pretty classic powder formula, not too wet or dry to the touch. Powder isn't as finely milled as some loose powders I've had. It gives a bit of coverage, but mostly just mattes down any foundation you have under.

Colors

It comes in one shade which is supposedly universal. It's not white, like most of their powders were in the past, but has warm yellow tone to it. However, on the skin it doesn't give much color, it just blends into my skin tone.

Performance

It definitely sets and mattifies foundation underneath, but I find it a bit heavy, meaning it can look obvious if you apply a lot on. Plus, it doesn't keep my skin matte for a long time, so this isn't perfect for oily skin. It's just a very classic powder. I prefer something finer and lighter on the skin.

More Than Glow Highlighter - 020 Supreme Rose Beam

Packaging

It's plastic packaging with transparent lid, so you can see that beautiful embossed flower design through it. In it is 5.9 grams of product and it costs 4.19€.

Formula

It's wet to the touch formula which is a bit harder to pick up with a brush. But with fingers you get very intense color payoff with metallic finish. Shimmer in it is fine and the shine is amazing.

Colors

It comes in three shades light champagne gold, champagne rose and lighter medium gold.

020 Supreme Rose Beam is light neutral rose toned champagne shade with metallic sheen. The formula is very similar to LE Glow in Bloom highlighters and this shade is almost the same as C03 Magnolia Blossom. That one is just a tad more pink toned.

Performance

It's very reflective, so it will emphasize texture. It's also pretty opaque in color, so it will look ashy on anyone medium to dark toned. Fluffy brushes pick up less product than anything denser or fingers. It blends fairly well and the staying power is definitely good.

The Coral Nude Eyeshadow Palette - 010 Peach Passion

Packaging

It comes in transparent plastic with peach base to compliment color selection. In it is 9.5 grams of product and it costs 5.09€.

Formula

These are extremely soft buttery eyeshadows to the point that mattes are almost too buttery and blend out too fast. Pigmentation is descent, but you need to build mattes up. Shimmery shades are more creamy and more pigmented.

Colors

There are 9 shades in this palette. At a first look I wouldn't say this is coral selection, it's mostly just neutral and warm nudes and one vibrant orange. I like that some of the shades are more neutral and there is a good mix of mattes and shimmery shades

1 - pale matte neutral bone nude.
2 - light shimmery warm gold.
3 - light matte warm camel brown.
4 - light matte neutral taupe.
5 - medium shimmery warm copper.
6 - medium warm brick orange.
7 - medium warm bronze brown.
8 - medium to dark neutral taupe.
9 - pale shimmery neutral champagne.

You have matte nude, shimmery inner corner nude, matte browns for the crease, pop of orange to warm it up and shimmery neutrals to put on the lid. My favorite shade is 7 bronze color and 5 shimmer copper shade which looks deceivingly neutral in the pan, but swatches much more copper warm. I also really like shade 4 for a basic contour in the crease.

Performance

Some of these mattes blend out too easily which means they blend into each other and you loose intensity. There is a lot of kick-up in the pan. Shimmery shades are best applied with finger to get full intensity. Vibrancy fades through the day and I find shimmery shades also don't stay as shimmery through the whole day. But it's one of those formulas that you don't need skills with it, shadows blend out like a dream, so it's a foolproof for any makeup beginners. All the shades compliment each other and there aren't any too metallic finishes or bold colors.

24h Brush Liner With Coconut Water Longlasting - 010 Ultra Black

Packaging

It comes in matte plastic black packaging with gold design. It has short thin brush applicator which can create thin or thicker lines, depending on the pressure. In it is 3 ml of product and it costs 3.09€.

Formula

It's liquid formula which dries down fairly quick to complete matte finish. Pigmentation is good.

Colors

010 Ultra Black is indeed very intense black color

Performance

You can create very thin line or press it down harder and create thicker line. I like brush applicator, because it's more precise than a felt tip, but can be harder to work with for beginners. You have to control the pressure to get desired thickness lines. It's also harder to not touch your eyelashes with it. Because it's pretty liquid it will seep between the lashes and that's harder to clean off.

Once it sets it doesn't move. There is no transferring or smudging and in general this lasts on my lids the whole day. However, it's not waterproof

Plumping Lip Liner 020 What A Doll

Plumping Lip Liner + Maxi-Lip - 020 What A Doll

Packaging

It comes in black plastic packaging with the cap and bottom being in the color of the product. It has fine sharpened tip which doesn't need to be sharpened. You just swirl the bottom and it comes out. In it is 0.35 grams of product and it costs 2.59€.

Formula

It's a creamy formula which glides on the lips, but isn't too waxy or slippery, so it sticks to the lips well. It's got good pigmentation and the finish is completely matte.

It contains peppermint oil which you can smell and feel just a bit once you apply it and then it sort of goes away and I don't find it irritating on my lips.

Colors

There are 10 shades available, mostly nude mauves, some pinks and a red and a brown.

020 What A Doll is that perfect medium warm dirty mauve nude that will be the perfect nude color for many skin tones. I actually really like this color to pair with any makeup look.

Performance

It's matte, so this won't make your lips feel hydrated, however I also don't find it particularly drying. It's creamy enough that it won't emphasize dry patches too much and it sticks to the lips and is pretty long lasting on my dry lips.

Volumizing Lip Booster - 140 Rosewood Hills

Packaging

It's small transparent tube with silver cap. Applicator is fluffy and flat. I find it easy to apply lip color on the edges with it and I don't need a separate brush or lip liner to get it perfect. In it is 5 ml of product and it costs 3.79€.

Formula

It's very creamy formula with good slip to it. You can spread it with ease and the pigmentation is very nice for lip gloss. It leaves that shine on the lips, but the base is almost like a liquid lipstick.

It contains menthol which you smell and feel on the lips as it tingles them and sort of feels like it's evaporating on your lips. This doesn't actually make your lips any bigger - the shine of gloss may make them just appear bigger. I actually hate any plumping lip products, because they can be irritating on sensitive lips and I just don't like the feeling. However, I suffer through it with this one, because the color is so nice. It's definitely unnecessary to have in formula, if you ask me.

Colors

You can choose among 7 shades. They are all in the neutral to mauve pink spectrum.

140 Rosewood Hills is that perfect light warm dirty mauve brown nude. It's one of those my-lips-but-better shades that will suit many. Applied over What A Doll lip liner, it's the perfect combination.

Performance

In the formula is also jojoba and almond oil which give it that nourishing and soothing feel and it would be just perfect, if it didn't contain menthol which ruins comfortable wear of this formula. If you're lips are not sensitive then definitely check it out, however I much preferred their Dewy-ful Lips formula which were one of the best products ever.

Volumizing Lip Booster in 140 Rosewood Hills

Iconails Gel Lacquer - 100 Party Animal

I haven't tried this one, because I rarely apply nail polish anymore and I rather give it to someone that will get more use out of it. But I have tried Catrice Iconails formula before and I really like it. This one seems to have a metallic finish. 100 Party Animal is mauve shade with silver shine through it. I also like their wider rounded brush which applies nail polish so much easier around the cuticles without too much effort.

It costs 2.99€.

I am most excited about Brush Liner and Plumping Lip Liner. Those two are worth checking out. Liner is so black and matte. It applies and wears like a dream. Catrice lip liners are always great and this formula is just as amazing.

I definitely would avoid True Skin foundation if you have oily or combinations skin. Volumizing Lip Booster may not be for you, if you hate plumping ingredients and have easily irritated lips. Such a shame for menthol in it, because the formula and colors are really nice.

Highlighter is nice, but their more powdery formulas apply much easier, however this one gives that intense metallic shine, if you're more into that. Eyeshadow palette is great for anyone that wants something that blends out like a dream and is effortless to apply. Just something subtle for everyday wear. I am not a huge fan of powder, but it's descent - I still use it. I would like it to be finer and more lightweight.

New In (31)

I am very late on my New In posts, so this one features mostly the products I already have full reviews on. There is a few skin care bits that I haven't talked about yet, but I am trying out as well. Expect another new in very soon with some more new products I got.

Inglot Set Travel Size 2*

So I received this travel size skin care kit from Inglot and to be honest I didn't even know Inglot has skin care. I have some of their makeup products which are amazing, but I never heard of their skin care before. Inglot is now also available in Slovenia which is lovely, but I am still waiting for a physical store nearer me, so I can go see makeup shades in person. They have to travel size skin care products and this is set 2. It costs 49€ which is definitely expensive in my eyes. You get 25 ml of micellar water, 10 ml of day serum, 10 ml of night serum and 9 ml of oil. You can buy it here

Inglot Micellar Water*

Micellar water is transparent and liquid as most are. I didn't like it. Yes, it removed my makeup, but wasn't the best at removing long lasting or waterproof makeup. I didn't like that it made my skin around the eyes irritated and red. I'm not sure if it's something in the ingredients list, but nevertheless I am loyal to my Bioderma micellar water which never irritates me. I dislike most other micellar waters in general, because they always seem to irritate my skin. This one isn't scented.

Inglot Hydrating Day Serum*

This is water based serum with glycerin, lots of oils and some hyaluronic acid as well as Q10. It has milky white serum consistency. Viscose slip to it makes it easy to spread and it feels very smooth, but also nourishing and moisturizing on the skin. It's also a great base for makeup, because foundation sticks to it well. Texture is really nice, because it moisturizes skin, looks smooth on the skin and still provides nourishment through the day that isn't heavy feeling or greasy looking. There is no added scents.

Upper photo: Hydrating Day Serum, Lower Photo: Revitalizing Night Serum

L to R: Hydrating Day Serum, Revitalizing Night Serum, Dream Drop Oil

Inglot Revitalizing Night Serum*

Another water based serum, but this one has more argan oil in it and there is also some hylruonic acid and Q10 in it. It's runnier than day serum and it has yellow tinted color. It has that same very nice slip to it which spreads lovely. It also has that nourishing layer aspect, but it's even more lightweight than day serum and sinks in faster. On skin it leaves the slightest nourishing and moisturizing layer, but if you have dry skin you'll definitely need to go in with another moisturizer on top. This one also doesn't have any added scent, but the natural scent is quite strong.

Inglot Dream Drop Face Oil*

This is mix of multitude of oils like cotton, jojoba, coconut, chia, strawberry and some more. It's pretty runny yellow tinted oil which feels sort of thinner and lighter than natural oils. It spreads easily and leaves that shiny oily layer, but in general feels light on the skin. Natural herbal scent to it is pretty strong and it's not my favorite. On the skin it feels good, but oils are more occlusive, so don't expect any hydrating from it. I use oils to seal in all my other lighter skin care underneath and to give my skin that protective layer.

This was summer collection that I just got around to testing. Avon Naturals products usually focus on one or two scents at most. This is more milky coconuty with floral tiare scent to make it more tropical. It's standard shower gel, body scrub and scented spritz which I use to refresh room with, but you can also use it as perfume.

I have review of those two as well. Brush pens apparently became pretty popular and now drugstore brands do them too. I tried both of these and they are different. Essence is more transparent in color, has thicker felt tip and gives you more soft powdered look, while Catrice is brush tip, more precise, more pigmented, but it leaks out of the packaging and spills all over. I preferred Catrice version, but since it's been spilling out so much, I don't want to use it. None of these are a hit for me.

Catrice's advent calendar for 2020 is full of their discontinued products from regular range and there are also eight limited edition products. I have tried limited edition ones, but most other products I will give to others that get more use out of it. It comes with cute paper bags that allow you to create your own advent calendar.

Hello, Good Stuff is a regular range that has joined Essence family as vegan, more natural alternative that features some skin care as well as makeup products. I have already wrote full reviews of these products. Skin care in this range feels very smooth on the skin and all products have really nice scents, some natural some added.

I also had the chance to try some of Wet n Wild products. I already had some previously, but these were all new to me. My favorite out of these is Nude Awakening eyeshadow palette which is the perfect nude palette for autumn. You can read full review in a separate post.

It's my favorite lip oil that I have tried so far and I keep repurchasing this one. This must be my fifth bottle already. It's feels very soothing, nourishing and gives you nice shine, but also sticks to the lips well.

This is now my favorite mascara, because it gives me lovely volume, but keeps definition of my lashes and slight makes them longer as well. I like that this isn't as clumpy ad L'Oreal Paradise. It dries out a bit faster, because it's not very wet formula. I ordered another in brown black which I loved as well as blackest black which is your ordinary black.

This has be renamed since my full review of it, but the formula is the same. I like this oil, because it's thinner in consistency, so it spreads easier and I don't use it as much. It breaks down makeup well, but isn't recommended to be used on the eyes. I don't mind that, because I use micellar water to remove eye makeup anyway. I have repurchase it many times.

I love Avon lipstick formulas and this is another amazing one. It's cream finish with lovely creamy pigmented formula. Shade Iconic is one of those very wearable mauve nude shades that are my-lips-but-better shade which will suit many skin tones. I keep reaching for it for an effortless nude shade that goes with everything.

Balea Straffende Hydrogel Gesichts Maske Mit Diamant-Puder und Hyaluron

This is hydrogel mask with diamond powder and hyaluronic acid. It comes packaged among two plastic papers, so you can unfold hydrogel mask easier. Hydrogel is thin, soaked in essence and sticks to skin well. It has tin foil color to it. Mask comes in two parts one for the chin and one for the upper face. It's fairly good fit, except mouth hole is a bit big for me.

It feels cooling and soothing on the skin. Artificial scent is quite subtle. There is a lot of leftover essence, more than in any other mask I have tried so far. My skin looked plumper after I used it, moisturized and there was slight tacky layer left on my skin. Skin had nice sheen to it. But in general this is your basic hydrating mask. There were also some silver shimmer particles left on my face, which might be diamond powder?! Whatever that may be. I found it a bit annoying and unnecessary.

Balea Vital+ Intensiv Serum Mit Calcium und Sojaöl

This is serum that is moisturizing, nourishing and should strengthen your skin. It contains anabolic calcium, soybean oil and hyaluronic acid. There is also some panthenol in it which is great for soothing the skin. It has milky serum texture, that isn't too runny. There is such a smooth glide to it which spreads with such ease and makes your skin look very smooth. I think this is perfect for makeup application as it sort of wears as a good primer. It gives the skin a bit of sheen and moisturizing layer which is enough for normal to combination skin. There is also like fabric softener scent to it which is very soothing and comforting in a way.

Here is a few of new products that have been added to Catrice range for autumn and winter. These are al very nice it all depends on which texture you prefer. My favorite is new Plumping Lip Liner formula which I already purchased in another shade as well. I have a separate post with full review of these products.

Afrodita Clean Phase Sensitive Solution Cleansing Oil Fluid

When I was in Rogaška Slatina I stopped at the headquarters of Afrodita, because they also have store their. I didn't really need anything and the professional range products were quite expensive, so I just bought some testers and one body peeling which I haven't tried yet. This is very thick balm like texture, which squeezes out like a gel, but is very hard to spread on your dry face. However, if you let it melt between your fingers a little, it's easier to spread. It melts makeup fairly well, though isn't good for anything more long lasting or mascara. Once it gets in contact with water it turns milky and washes off, but still leaves that nourishing a bit greasy layer on top so you have to go in with second cleanse. I heard that on the full size of the bottle it says to apply by wetting it, but that way you get a milk and you can't really melt all that makeup with it. So I'm not sure how this is supposed to work. I like that it didn't have any added perfume.

Afordita Clean Phase Sensitive Solution Tonic

I just can't seem to get along with Afrodita tonics. I bought this one that it says it's for sensitive skin and it still sort of burns my skin and I don't understand why. Based on the ingredients list I thought I would like it, but no. It's just a regular liquid tonic which doesn't really do anything for my skin, because it sort of irritates it and adds another layer that isn't particularly hydrating either.

Afrodita Clean Phase Hydra Solution Tonic

I haven't tried this one yet, I just hope it won't be as irritating as the one from Sensitive range.

December 2020 Favorites

It's the end of this year, which if you'd say it was a shitshow, it would be understatement. I'm finishing with my December favorites which were lots of creamy makeup and some new skin care I loved.

Skintegra Infrared Concentrate

I always hear only great things about Skintegra skin care, but I never tried anything before. On Black Friday I decided to try Infrared serum which was on sale at the time on Superskin. It just read so well, there are all ingredients in it which I love - azelaic acid, niacinamide, panthenol, Centella asiatica, madecassoside and many more. I haven't had any azelaic acid, but I hear it's great for brightening and I can almost say I see results on my sallow skin around mouth. This is calming serum which calms inflammation, hydrates and corrects skin imperfections. It's even recommended for sensitive skin. I noticed just the slightest sting on my skin sometimes when I applied it over freshly opened blemish wounds, but I don't find it irritating at all and my skin seems to love it. It hydrates well, soothes the skin and helps it heal faster. I can't say about any long-term brightening effects, because I would need to use it for longer, but there is slightest difference or maybe I'm just imagining it, I can't say. But this is great serum for anyone that wants something very soothing yet effective at calming the skin and repairing it in a gentle way. It's transparent, slightly viscose texture which soaks in fast, but leaves that nourishing protective layer on the skin. Now I am very interested in trying more skin care from Skintegra.

Balea Vital+ Intensiv Serum Mit Calcium und Sojaöl

I keep liking and using this serum. I use Infrared in the evening and this one in the morning. It's milky white serum with super spreadable silky finish which gives your skin healthy glow and is perfect as a light primer under makeup since it makes the skin feel so smooth. It's also moisturizing. It has faint sort of creamy scent to it and I don't get any irritation from it. This is one of those lightweight smooth serums perfect for under the makeup.

I've been using this primer almost as a highlighter and sometimes I even mixed it in with more matte foundations to give them some sheen. It's slightly thicker creamy formula which dries matte, but has tiny shimmer in it and a bit of champagne color to it which gives your skin very natural sheen. On no makeup day this is that undetectable highlighter and mixed with foundation it gives you a bit of sheen without the greasy feel. I think this sadly isn't sold anymore, but Catrice probably has a replacament already.

This is foundation, but it's much too dark for my skin tone, so I use it as a creamy bronzer instead and it's perfect for that. This is that creamy thicker formula, but it has good slip to it, so it's easy to pick up with synthetic brushes. I apply it as a bronzer over foundation. It's just dark enough for my skin tone and has that warm undertone to it which matches me well. Lately I've been loving creamier products, because my skin can get dehydrated in the winter from all the central heating.

I've made it my mission to use up as much older products as I can, since I have tendency to just use whatever is new and rarely finishing some products. This is another product that is too dark for my skin tone. It's just slightly too dark compact powder which I now use to set Max Factor creamy bronzer shade to just stay in place. I use it lightly. Sometimes I even use this on its own as a powdery bronzer, but it's very light bronzer shade for me and has that yellow tone that matches me well. This is also a good tip for anyone, if you can't find bronzer to match you, try to find darker powder, because those usually come in more shades and shades are more similar to natural skin tones anyway, so you'll find a better match for your fake tan shade anway.

H&M Pure Radiance Powder Blusher - Cameo Pink

If you haven't tried H&M Pure Radiance Powder Blushes, you're sleeping on a very affordable and good blush. This is my fourth powder shade and fifth H&M blush. I love these blushes, because they have lovely soft powdery texture, they aren't too pigmented (so you can build them up slowly) and they have the best muddy or dusty shades of blushes I have seen in drugstore range ever. Cameo pink is that muddy pink that isn't too pale and is fairly neutral in tone. It gives light skin tone that perfect flush of pink cheeks that look so natural and will go with any look. If you hate vibrant and bright blushes, you will love these. And they are often on sale for 4 or even 2€, which is just a steal.

Nabla Liberty Twelve Customizable Palette

This was part of my Black Friday order on Beautybay. I have large Z Palette and Beautybay used to had these, but now I can't find them anywhere. So I was desperately searching for another empty palette that I could depot my Viseart mini palettes in. I found this Nabla palette which holds 12 of their larger pan single shadows and it worked out great for my Viseart Warm and Paris Edit eyeshadows. I deliberately deppoted these in a way that they have the same shade position as in original palettes, but I could fit at least 11 more Viseart mini shadows in it, one would be left out. Other brand single shadows have larger ppans, but for Viseart this turned out well. I just don't like the original three fold packaging. This way it's easier to reach and I use it a lot more.

Catrice Plumping Lip Liner + Maxi-Lip 010 Understated Chic

I have this pencil in 020 What A Doll which is more mauve pink nude. I love this formula so much that I also got a more warm peachier brownish nude which is 020 Understated Chic. There is a descent choice of nudes in this range and I like that all of them are more muted so they look very natural on the lips. I've been wearing this shade a lot. Formula is nicely creamy with a bit of mint feel to it, but it fades quickly.

Legendary matte lipstick formula with velvet design on it that most makeup artists love is also one of the best matte lipstick formulas I own. I only have it in shade Velvet Ribbon which is classic neutral red that will suit all skin tones. It's highly pigmented and feels surprisingly light on the lips and doesn't make them any drier. It's a very comfortable and very pigmented formula. I've work this red around Christmas days. It's truly the perfect classic red.

Avon Lucky Me Eau de Parfum

Avon also does minis of a lot of their perfumes and I like to buy these to try out the scent. It gives you enough uses to really make your mind up about the scent and I love Lucky Me. It's one of those great oriental sweet perfumes that Avon does so well. Base notes are exactly what I love the most - vanilla, amber and white sandalwood. In the middle are jasmine, vanilla orchid and gardenia and on top are champagne, Italian mandarin and white currant. This is a bit fruity and very faintly floral in the beginning and it's drying down to that sweet oriental base. Another very sophisticated oriental fragrance. Full size bottle is gorgeous with its purple blue bottle.

Remington Keratin Protect S8540 Hair Straightener

I had about 10 years old Remington hair straightener which died on me, so I had to buy another one. I am a cheap ass when it comes to investing in hair tools, so I decided to go for a middle cost option and got this one which is actually really nice. Ceramic plates are wide enough to put large enough hair strands in it and it definitely straightens the hair well. It has several heating options, but I don't go pass 160°C anyway on my fine hair. It also heats up in the matter of a few seconds. I was most in awe by the fact how smooth my hair ran through it, boy did I have damaged plates on my old one. My hair kept stuck in it and I could never get a smooth line. But this one is like 100% better than that old one which was ready to be thrown away about 5 years ago.

I am a huge coconut lover and these bowls always looked so cute to me. The one I have on a photo came in set with two bowls and two spoons which are made of coconut palm. It's Germand brand Pandoo that those these. They are cute to use for breakfast, snacks or even as decor.

Kaviar Gauche is German bridal couture brand that Catrice collaborated with already and I feel they'll do more together in the future. These collection always have the prettiest design and very wearable shades.

Pressed Pigment Palette C01 Crystal Collection

Packaging

I can't tell you how gorgeous this packaging is, because photos don't do it justice. It's fairly well made, thicker packaging with metallic gold color and statement 3D lid made of rhinestones and studs. It looks gorgeous in person, a true collectable piece. This has to be one of the most impressive packaging I have seen from Catrice so far. Inside is also mirror which is pretty big.

In it is 10g of product and it costs around 10€.

Formula

Eyeshadow palette has 9 shades, some are matte, some shimmery, others satin and two glitters. Mattes are extremely soft and buttery. Shimmery and satin shades have the same buttery formula, but some are even wetter to the touch, more creamy. Two glitter shades come in a creamy base. Top layer is dry and you immediately think this is loose glitter pressed in, but once you get through the top layer, you notice creamy base underneath.

Pigmentation in general is good, but none of the shades really pack a punch - then again, they are all very neutral everyday shades, no crazy vibrant colors.

Colors

It's a very neutral everyday colored eyeshadow palette that will suit most light to medium skin tones. There are mostly neutral browns, with some pinks and mauves and two glitter shades to glam it up.

1 - cool silver glitter
2 - satin light warm dusty pink
3 - satin medium warm coral pink
4 - matte light warm saddle brown
5 - matte light warm bone nude
6 - satin medium neutral brown with mauve sheen
7 - shimmery light neutral champagne
8 - neutral champagne pink glitter
9  - medium neutral chocolate brown

I love all matte shades which are perfect for a simple crease look. Satin shades are nice too, but I would prefer something more shimmery and metallic, that's just more my personal taste. Glitter shades don't perform as I thought they would, so I probably won't use them.

Performance

All shimmery, satin and matte shades blend out like a dream, which also means they can look a bit blended together and similar. Satin shades are perfect for subtle everyday sheen on the lids that is very understated. Two glitters that come in creamy base crease badly. I applied them over eyeshadow primer and it didn't seem to help. I even put some Duraline on top and it still creased. If you have hooded eyes you will hate them. For me those two glitters are a waste in that palette, I would prefer some more metallic shades. I was most excited about these two, but they just don't work on my oily hooded lids.

With eyeshadow primer they stay on the lid (except for glitters), but the intensity fades and shades blend together - tend to look similar.

Highlighter C01 Glow Couture

Packaging

Another really pretty designed packaging with gold metallic and shimmery gold lid. Inside is also a descent sized mirror

In it is 8.7 grams of product and it costs around 6€.

Formula

This is that new highlighter formula that Catrice came out with recently. It's very wet and creamy, but harder to pick up with a brush. Pigmentation is good

Colors

It looks rose in the packaging, but it's actually more of a champagne color with rose base. Sheen on top is fairly neutral and leans more on silver side. The base of it is more rose toned, so if you apply it heavy you can get that rose undertone that will be too dark for fair skin. But with a brush you mostly pick up just that neutral champagne shine

Performance

Shimmer is small enough, but it's very reflective, so it will emphasize any texture. It has good staying power, but definitely fades a bit through the day

Multipurpose Brush

Packaging

Brush has plastic gold metallic holder and synthetic dark brown bristles. Bristles are very soft and fairly dense. It has straight cut top. Essentially, it's a small kabuki sized brush.

It costs around 6€.

Performance

It says it can be used for liquid and powder formulas, I only tried it with powder and it applied nicely, but I prefer tapered brushes, because they blend product easier. I think this one would actually be better for creams, especially light application of foundation. It's also perfect for mineral powder.

This is a very well designed collection. Packaging is a statement piece, but the formulas are fairly basic - in a good way. If you like very everyday eyeshadow shades which blend without any effort and there aren't any crazy shades, you will love eyeshadow palette. Highlighter is also nice, but the formula is very creamy, so it's harder to apply it with a brush. If you have a lot of texture on your skin, you won't like this one. Brush is ok, but I personally prefer something more tapered. Eyeshadow packaging is just so pretty that I definitely won't get rid of it, I'll try to repurpose it even when the eyeshadows go bad, because it's that pretty.
